My first visit was last night, and I was in the area to see my friend Ron shoot fireworks from the Continental Ave bridge. Not only was the venue the best place ever to catch the show, the crab cakes I had while I waited for it to begin were a breath of fresh air. Lots of Dallas places claim to do an authentic one, and few fail to disappoint, especially if you've had one in Baltimore. Larry and his crew not only wowed me with a dish that was crab cakes three ways, but sitting at the bar, the place was just fun to watch happen. Great upbeat vibe! I'll be back.
This is literally my favorite restaurant. I've eaten here many times and always gotten good service, and the food is spectacular every time. I'm a seafood fanatic and this is the best seafood in Dallas in my opinion.
The prices are market prices so they may seem high for someone unused to eating at a high end fish market style restaurant, but it is consistent with the pricing of that type of establishment.
I always order off the specials board and I'm never disappointed. The jalapeño cheese grits are my second favorite in Dallas, and the hushpuppies come with a remoulade and are to die for. I always get a hurricane too.
HEAVEN!!!!
Today I was invited by friends at our church to have lunch here after church today. The welcome by Nikki (GM) was very nice and our waitress, named Dallas, was friendly and outgoing. The lemonade is really great and free refills, not fountain lemonade and not freshly squeezed but very close to it fresh squeezed. I ordered the lemon pepper grouper, with grits and greens. The greens were seasoned too strong with spices; almost like a double dose of pepper sauce was already cooked in it. Good greens should not include a lot of over powering seasoning. As I was eating the grouper, noticed that it was under cooked and was tough. We let our waiter know and they immediately fixed the issues by giving me broccoli and advised the chef of the seasonings in the greens. The main chef also cooked me another serving of pan seared grouper....and it was AMAZING....melt in your mouth. I applauded Nikki and Dallas for turning a bad situation to 100% better. They also provided desert and the home made cobbler was "da bomb" it is a family recipe. The gumbo is great...very different with potato salad and a half boiled egg on the side....a Louisiana specialty. This is a great restaurant with good food and people!
First time there! Food was great! We had a family style meal. Now, my family knows I'm will not just eat anyone's gumbo! This place has the best I've tasted, out side of mine!! Will go again!!!
First time here and will definitely be back!! Fresh delicious seafood, everything we had was fabulous... our waiter Noe was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We had snapper, tuna tartar, gumbo, oysters, and shrimp cocktail, all delicious, even my toddlers kids menu grilled cheese.
The food was fresh, the drink was on point and our server Daphane was great. Great food, great friends, who could ask for a better day!
I loved the food and the service was great. Our waitress Kate was the best. I would highly recommend this place. Don't forget to ask for Kate.
We had dinner at Amberjax last night and absolutely loved it!! The food was delicious and so fresh. We also had the pleasure of having Jenna as our server. She is so friendly and attentive!! I highly recommend trying this place! :)
We had a fabulous meal and Daniel was such attentive waiter... knew what we needed before we even asked!! My fish tacos were perfect and the oysters were too!!
Hands down the best service and food I have had in a long time. If you are ever craving seafood do not go anywhere else. Never disappointed here.
The fish taste very fresh! Great food and service! Highly recommend to people who are seafood lovers
Great food and drinks! I hate the greens weren’t on the menu yesterday. Listen! When you can eat the cornbread with just butter...you know that some deep southern style cornbread.
Fantastic service provided by Katey!. She amazed me with her highly detailed knowledge of the menu and daily specials. Kudos to her!. She deserves a raise and excellent tips!.
I ordered the Creole Crab Cake Entree; and though I was shocked by the size once delivered; I was full before I even finished my plate!. 😂😂 It was muy delicioso and satisfying; nearly melted in my mouth. As side items; I chose the Mac & Cheese as well as Squash. I enjoyed every bite of the creamy cheesy mac and cheese and the mouth watering perfectly seasoned squash. Amberjax definitely exceeded my expectations during our Saturday afternoon visit. I will return!. 😍😍
Absolutely amazing selection of the highest quality seafood, delivered fresh twice a day, 6 days a week. The environment is open and inviting with a great view of the Trinity river.
The prices are on the higher side, but you get what you pay for when it comes to seafood. The food portion was just enough for my wife and I to share. Amberjax is worth it. The cocktail prices were a bit high as well, and the portions small. Overall, a great experience.
Just came here for happy hour for the $2 oysters and they were delish! I couldn't drink much due to the fact I had a run the following morning, but hopefully I can come back here during happy hour when I have no following morning responsibilities. Definitely recommend this place!
Fantastic food, flavors were all on point. Great atmosphere and service. Will definitely visit again!
Order: 1:Cajun Crab cake w/ red beans & rice. 2: Clams & Muscles in a white wine sauce.
D: Bread Pudding w/ Ice Cream
M: I got order 1. The crab cake was amazing! Fresh crab meat & seasoned perfectly. Our waiter was great & brought me both the house made remoulade sauce & house made lemon butter sauce. They were both yummy , but I prefer the lemon butter! It complimented the crab very nicely. The red beans & rice were good as well & soft corn bread. Not too much of a spice too it though.
C: 2nd Order. Keeping it light today, I decided to get the tasty Muscle & Clams. They were prepared in a white wine butter sauce. They were perfectly tender & melted in your mouth! I wish I had more! The French bread was a great side, dipped into the sauce was amazing.
We visited on a Sunday evening with reservations for a larger party. Celebrating a birthday with family.
Our waiter (Noah I believe his name was) was very nice & explained everything to us new-comers. Good atmosphere & helpful staff. They way they keep your drinks fresh is an awesome trend. They place a bucket with pebbles of ice & self serving spoon next to a fish shaped water craft on your table. If you get sodas, they will bring refill in a mini craft. The entire family enjoyed their food & service. Food is on the high end of the money spectrum, but with everything being fresh, you can certainly tell why. Other dishes enjoyed were: Fried shrimp basket (AMAZING! Better then Pappadeaux’s), Shrimp & Grits (good flavor, needs a few more shrimp) Gumbo, & Blackened Tilapia. We also shared some flaming bread pudding & ice cream. It was pretty good too, a little heavy with the alcohol to make it flame. It absorbed into the dessert, but Some may like it ha!
I had salmon, mashed potatoes, & green beans. It was all insanely delicious! I even tried my dad's fish & a friend's fish & they were also so delicious. I will DEFINITELY be coming back to eat & telling more people about this place. Top notch food!
The Food and The service from Mark was great! This was our first time here and being new to the area we just googled a nearby restaurant and walked on in.The manager let us know they just had a shift change so it would be a slight wait. Shortly thereafter we were seated and our kids were greeted with goldfish crackers at the table, we loved the whole experience!! 👍🏼👍🏼
One of the best seafood places to visit and experience. I highly recommend their crab cakes flight.
And regardless of the fish dish you select, if available, I highly recommend the sweet potatoes mash and jalapeno cheese grits as your two sides.
I really enjoy Amber Jack's house salad with the Louis dressing. The tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers are always very flavorful. And the bread is so awesome...so flavorful and grilled just right to perfection..and nice big slices. And the Shrimp and Grits I love. Its really enough to feed 2 people..yummy..hardly ever a wait..all the staff are very professional...oh and the sugar water for the Iced Tea? Magnificent! Very nice to go containers and carry out bags...Parking is very convenient also. Best seafood place in this part of Dallas.
Friday and Saturday were mother-daughter night for me and my eldest child. It was nothing short of pure joy to go traipsing through Cedar Hill, Dallas, and Fort Worth with her at the helm. She knew all the great dining haunts throughout this tri-city area of Texas. However, I identified Amberjax as the place to settle down and enjoy a spectacular meal!
We actually ended up in the vicinity because my daughter wanted to take me by an establishment in close proximity to Amberjax. I lost my footing on the curb in an attempt to identify the restaurant emitting such a succulent aroma. I was helplessly bewitched as the rich odor beckoned m ! We could not correctly identify Amberjax that evening due to there being myriad restaurants in this compact strip mall, of sorts. We vowed to go back the next day though to enjoy the promise of great food and ambience! Am I glad that we were relentless in our pursuits.
Saturday was our lucky evening. We traveled back to the strip mall in question. After much deliberation we decided Amberjax had to be the scrumptiously guilty party! We walked in and were seated in an area of our choosing. I ordered the Parmesan Encrusted Habilut and my daughter had the Seafood Boil. Both of these meals were more delicious than we could have imagined. My halibut was golden and crusty on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. My sides: mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens were equally appetizing. The smell was exactly what had drawn me into an odoriferous intoxication the previous night. My daughters shrimp were plump, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned. She had a comparable array of shrimp, sausages, crab legs, and potatoes.
We were met with amazing service. We were prompted at just the right time to refresh our beverages; inquire about our satisfaction with the meal, and soliciting feedback on the menu reccommendation! We were both so pleased with the meal, service, and atmosphere that I have it in my head to go back the next time I travel to Texas. If you visit the Fort Worth Dallas area and fail to stop in at Amberjax you are doing yourself a great disservice! In case you were wondering, yes, the staff were adhering to COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing was in force!
Food was well seasoned and hot off the pan. Staff was helpful, and courteous. Mid to upscale feel.
Our food was so good! I had the blackened mahi-mahi, broccoli and the sweet potato mash. The SP mash was to die for, literally, heavenly.
Showed up 2 hours early... on Valentine’s Day 🙄... and they sat us despite it all! Manger was a gem. Took the time to chat with us and talk shop. The Star ⭐️ of the show was Mixtress Christine from LA. Although she would NOT share her 5 generation secret Margarita recipe (fair) she was a delight. By the end of the night we wanted to adopt this LA transplant. Go there. Seafood is great. Service is A+.
I always have a great experience when I visit. Every server is knowledgeable of the menu items and I'm never disappointed
Unexpected surprise! The bartender was very knowledgeable and the cook was absolutely awesome!! Food was fantastic!!
Best seared blue fin tuna I've had, and OMG thier mashed sweet potatoes is to die for!!! Great service, waiters are polite and pleasant.
