This place was almost amazing..... So I walked in and was not invited to be seated anywhere. I had to ask the waitress if I could seat myself at the bar. I was immediately served a margarita. The color of the margarita was an interesting shade of green, but it was by far one of the best margaritas Ive had here in Dayton. I ordered the chimichanga with shredded beef, black beans and rice, as well as refried beans. The black beans and rice had jalapenos as well as corn and tomatoes in it. The refried beans tasted like they were out of a can. The chimichanga was absolutely amazing. The beef was tender, shredded perfectly, and seasoned efficiently. I was very impressed with the flakiness and texture of the deep fried tortilla. The flavor profile of the meal melded nicely with the margarita. I was tempted to taste other drinks but I will definitely be back for another visit!
Voted "like" only bc of bad wons if your not going to give good food or service at least get people drunk enough to forgive it
Gotta love it. Great bartenders and serivce, fun atmosphere, trivia and sports on the multiple tvs, and Elsa's fun food and Bad Juans. What more could you ask for!?!
Elsa's is a great restaurant that's well known for their margaritas. There menu is pretty small and varies by location. The linden ave has the best menu options by far. While the food is more like a high quality taco bell than authentic Mexican cuisine it's made well and a little more bland than traditional Mexican. The Bad Juan's (famous margarita) are pre-made and can range in potency depending on how well they keep it mixed. They aren't very good at it so it can escalate quickly. There's also usually a 3 drink max on the Bad Juan's. They're known for their potency and is definitely a must try. The only reason I don't vote it 5 stars is if you're looking for authentic Mexican restaurants this isn't what you're looking for. Now if you're looking for Mexican street food. This is where it's at. Also, It's always packed and crowded there just isn't enough space for the demand at the linden location though the other locations have more room.
They don’t have taco salads any more. The waitress did not tell me. She just brought me a bowl with only had black beans and rice and a little chicken you couldn’t even find it the chicken. Then she try and tell me that’s what I ordered. and said I order it I told her no I order a taco salad. Then she told me oh we don’t sell those any more. She did not bring me my sides or sour cream. I asked her for it she said oh you want that too. It’s on the menu I paid for it. Terrible sevice will not be going back
Just love this place staff wonderful friendly and up beat the food was great the only bad thing was the Drink Bad Juan it was so bad ( just kidding it all in the name) but sooo darn GOOD👍all at the same time. It is a must have try 2 if you're brave 😆 so please stop by enjoy the vibes it will be all good
This is by far the cleanest and most visually attractive of the Elsa chain! There was only one glitch during our visit--the ladies' bathroom was out of soap. However, it was quickly replaced after one request.
My recommendation about Elsa's -- not matter which location -- is that you go for fun and drinks, not food. The food is fine, but it's not what the restaurant is known for. If you want an excellent and authentic Mexican meal, you should go elsewhere. But if you're looking for a fun place to meet friends, any of the Elsa's are a good choice (but the original is very much cramped for space, especially since the regulars camp out there for the entire evening!)
Them frozen BAD Juan are the best drinks in this area.. pare that up with some crispy wings or nachos and you straight
Food was good "Americanized" mexican. The Bad Juan cocktail were amazing!! Tried both, on the rocks and blended, LOVE the blended raspberry. Service was great!!
