I grew up eating Dear Franks and have traveled the country extensively with bands--so lots of fast food. Dear Franks is some best fast food I've come across and the easily the best burgers and cheddar fries anywhere, hands down.

My partner has been coming here since he was a kid so I had to try it during our visit. GREAT hotdogs and don’t worry I didn’t put ketchup on it.

I grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago with the staples of Poochies, Wolfy's, Irvings, U Dawg U and of course Dear Franks. Dear Franks is my Go To Gourmet Vienna Beef products supplier on the whole North Side whenever I am in town. And I have been known to take road trips just to stop by and fill up the coolers for the returns trip to Virginia. Randy and the entire staff are the best and never forget a friendly face and also always make us feel right at home no matter how long we've been away. The Polishes, dogs and Gyros are great appetizers but the Italian Beef, dry and with lots of HOT giardinera is the main dish. If I could have one a day I'd be happy for the rest of my life. I've been coming to Dear Franks since the early 1980s and it's still great. Really it's my second favorite place for food in the entire state (losing out only to Paradise Pup). Great burgers, dogs, fries (esp extra well-done). VERY nice workers, nice atmosphere, although I'm not really fond of the ice cream area addition. All in all Dear Franks is a real gem!

The fellas at Dear Franks were great. We're from out of state and it was our first time there. Customer service was excellent. They were patient as we were indecisive about what we wanted. Everyone loved their food. We all got something different and we loved everything. It was our first time having a Chicago dog and it did not disappoint....the snap on my chargrilled dog was so good! They have ice cream and milkshakes the oreo milkshake was so good! We'll be back when we return!

Legit Chicago-style char dog, with cheese fries. And, that good merkts cheddar. The owner and his staff were very friendly and nice. You know it's a gem when they know people on a first name basis. ❤
This is the best hotdog stand in the chicago area. These are the nicest people who have owed the establishment for over 20 years. The cheese fries are the best, they have their own cheese. It’s an even better merks if that’s possible

The Italian Beef sandwich is the bestbat Dear Franks. We live in Georgia so when we visit family in Highland Park we make sure to go to Dear Franks at least once during our visit. Yesterday the gentleman that handed me our food even offered to help me out to my car since I had 3 drinks and food. Wonderful customer service. He even chatted me up as he could tell I was from the south, not Chicago. Great place and great food. We will continue to come during every visit.
Dear franks is an institution in Deerfield. The workers know the names of all the customers, it's got a big neighborhood joint vibe. I've only been a few times, but the food has been great each time. Everything is cooked to order so you get it fresh off the grill. The burger was great, and I'm personally a fan of hand cut french fries, so that was an added perk. There's limited seating, but there's a door inside to the ice cream shop next door for overflow.
If you have the time to wait for a fresh cooked meal, Dear Franks has high quality stuff.
I’ve tried cheesy beef which was really good . The last what I tried was Double Bacon Cheeseburger 🍔 which was the best burger in the area. Perfectly cooked, juicy and it was huge. Staff always friendly and get you the best experience. Also try their shakes, bubble tea and ice cream - delicious. They even have protein shakes. Thank you guys!
I have been going to Dear Franks since 1984. It us always delicious. The super chicken sandwich is great. The Chicago style hot dogs are fantastic - can't miss these if you are new to Chicago. My personal favorite thing to order are the cheese fries. I traveled in today for just a day in Deerfield and had to make sure I went to Dear Franks for some cheese fries.
Best char dogs in north/northwest suburbs and i tried lot dif places!!! Going there since 2017 and never ever been disappointed . Very good chicago style hot dog as well 👌
Stop reviewing this place as if it's a gourmet restaurant and enjoy it for what it is. A hotdog stand! The cheese they use for the cheese fries tasted like "Merkts" cheddar which is delicious (in my opinion). Some ingredients definitely tasted frozen but it's ok (again it's a hotdog stand folks). The fries were not your typical skinny (McDonald's type fries) they're thick and crispy and you can see the potato skins on them which is a good thing 👍 owner is super friendly and always greets me and staff is not trying to rush anyone, they're just attentive to my needs. The menu has pescatarian and vegetarian options (impossible burger/fish sandwich ect) which is lovely considering most places in this genre don't have many options like that. Happy to see this place survived COVID. That says a lot about what it means to the community. Solid hotdog joint.

Dear Frank’s is a great restaurant with amazing staff & great food. Their burgers are 🔥, especially the mushroom & Swiss. Don’t forget to add the seasoned waffle fries either because those are bussin bussin!
This place is still going strong, haven't been here in 15/20 years. It is still the same, even the same guys working the counter. It was so nice that the food has the same taste, even though it has changed ownership since I was a kid, they haven't cheaped out and used lower quality products like other Hot Dog places in the area. Fries are still the best in town!!
It was delicious!!! Best boba tea I’ve ever had. My family loves it, and the employees were super nice! At first it didn’t seem convincing, but if anything shouldn’t be judged by it’s cover it’s this place.
