Went on my birthday with my fiancé and was floored by everything. Upon entering I was comforted by the open line of the kitchen and the aroma of the wonderful things cooking in it. There is a television mounted above the main dining room that respects said kitchen by showing only the symphony of cooks playing their respective parts. The host greeted us warmly as did the bar staff and we settled at the chefs counter to get a front row seat. We started with Focaccia do Recco, a wonderful balance of salty prosciutto with tangy crescenza cheese and bitter arugula in a flaky crust finished in a traditional wood fired oven. Also had grilled oyster that are very difficult to STOP eating. I tried a cocktail called "apri tua boca", made with fig vodka, which I had never had before and is now on my list of favorites. Great wines by the glass, house made pasta with a fantastic lamb braise and constantly changing fish and meat specials all cooked over a wood fire. Chef Wiggins has used her collective Italian experience to really bring something great to the table, no pun intended, and it shines through in every dish. Service was organized and clean, as if they had been doing it for three years, not three months. We will be back frequently.

All I can say is WOW! We went on a Italian food tour last night and it was absolutely amazing!!! Chef Elisa Wiggins was just awarded Chef of the Year from the Eater Awards and we had to try her food. From the minute we walked in the ambience was so welcoming. Our table was ready on time and our servers were over friendly and extremely attentive. We started with dirty martinis (they made them perfectly, am a stickler) then we had the charbroiled oysters, um these were beyond delicious. We moved our way though our tour to the Focciata di Recco I LOVED this dish, I could live off the crescenza cheese!!! We continued with the Shagliozze it was super crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, they drizzled it with 12 year old balsamic(I would love to steal a bottle). We tried two tartares the tuna and the steak, our whole table agreed that was the best we have ever had. They were both super fresh and packed a ton of favor. Jeff one of servers explained every meal to us as it was brought to our table. He told the best stories of where all the food was inspired from and we truly enjoyed it. He elevated our customer experience. For entrees (yes we had this much food, it's so good) we tried two of the specials. They had fresh white truffles in so of course I had the try the sage butter with fresh made pasta and finished with shaved white truffles. I think I went to food heaven!! Our friend had the other special which was Rabbit Leg confit with homemade gnocchi( ridiculously amazing). And my husband had the Pastichio holy meatball and cheese! So amazing!! We finished our food tour with house made tiramisu. We truly enjoyed every plate and the conversations with Jeff. We highly suggest putting Cattivella on your must try restaurants list.

There were 12 of us at Cattivella for dinner last night. It was wonderful! The food was excellent!! I had the pizza special: steak and mushroom with gorgonzola = delizioso! Interesting, highly tempting menu options at many different price points. The service was wonderful, too. Not only do I highly recommend this venue, I will definitely be returning soon myself! Note: If you enjoy an aperitif, I found their signature (upgraded!) negroni cocktail to be superb!

The food is not only super tasty, but unique. Such a special place in northeast Denver. And, the service is top notch. We got to spend a nice dinner on the patio visiting with out of town family — absolutely perfect.

Bob and I loved our first meal at this restaurant with chef Elise. We had the lobster and Pasticcio. Excellent. As was the fried polenta starter. Stephen was an excellent server and told me how to make their homemade ginger beer. I will try it. We will come back. Tiramisu was outstanding, too!

Every single thing we had was seriously the best dish I've ever had! The pasta in the lamb ragu was perfection and the lamb was so flavorful and melts in your mouth. The pizza.....WOW! Best in Denver! Can't wait to go back!

I love everything about this restaurant, the huge chef’s counter, the service, the happy energy of the staff, the hot (temperature) food and Elise is so calm and welcoming and takes interest in my teenage daughters. Thank you.

A fun evening with friends; outstanding dishes: Pastichio and the Rabbit gnocchi with mushrooms. Our table shared the apple crustada and the chocolate-hazelnut torte; they were excellent choices recommended by our server, Eric. We are waiting patiently for Chef Wiggins to add Budino di Caramello to the dessert menu!

Writing a review for this restaurant will be easy, the hard part is not spreading the word to be entered for a James Beard award or having The New York Times be aware of the fantastic food their reviewer is missing. I felt transported to taste bud heaven. The staff felt like old friends visiting and explaining every ingredient as though it was their own story. Superb service. What a pleasure to know Elise Wiggins is respected and treasured as their leader. I will leave the review with these words. A story in food was found at Cattivella''s. A must experience in your life. Thanks Bobbi E.T.

Finally tried this neighborhood place this past week. I’m still talking about the truffle mushroom lasagne which was perfection and well worth the price. Please make it a regular item as often as possible—know the seasonality of the truffles. We popped in so didn’t have a reservation and ate at the end of the bar at the chefs table, but Still great service. Would love to see more options on the wine list and have more specialty cocktails that didn’t have bitters as an Ingredient (seemed 4 out of the 5 had butters and they were sold out of the 5th option). Will be back for sure.

Such great food made by passionate chefs. Every time I’ve been to Cattivella the food has been nothing short of incredible. It’s best to make reservations but you can usually find a seat at the kitchen bar (chef’s table).

Exceptional experience. Food and service was perfect - we had a larger group as well (12 people) and they were able to accommodate adeptly. Would recommend to anyone looking for a personal or group experience.

So glad to have a restaurant to dine at under the direction of Chef Elise again. The food was terrific, as was the service and wine. Each night they do a 'theives' pour of some great wine at an amazing value. On my first visit I tried the Chicken Pate, Grilled Oyster, Sgagliozze, and two pasta entrees: Taleggio Casoncelli with crispy sweetbreads & agro dolce raisins and the Veal Angolotti with sage/leek/parmigiano. The Friulian Pinot Grigio is great, and tonight had an amazing barolo to accompany the pasta course. Great value/hospitality. I will definitely be back with friends.

Chef Elise is a great teacher. I cannot wait to try some of the recipes she formulated on the spot during our cooking class. She is a very funny person and has a very exuberant personality. Definitely will be back for another private cooking class!

Food definitely stands up to the reputation. The calamari was the only thing that was iffy being a little too salty. Drinks were top notch. Presentation was great. Good service and lively atmosphere.

My friend and I were in town for the weekend and had the best service and food here last night. The drinks and atmosphere were amazing! Tim, our server, and the gentleman at the bar and in front of the (totally mind-blowing) open concept kitchen were fast, friendly, and polite. If I could give 11/10 stars I would. Everything was perfect.

Amazing, amazing, aaaamaaaziing!! Each dish we had was incredible. I only wish I had more stomach capacity so I could have tried more of the menu. The restaurant itself is moderately sized- not huge. The tables are kind of close together but it doesn’t matter with food like this. We won’t return for the buffalo burrata alone. We were surprised at the quality and flavors. The food came out quickly despite it being a busy night. It is an open kitchen with seating around the line area. The kitchen staff is in full view of the restaurant and work incredibly efficiently and skillfully. Our server Marissa was so warm and friendly, she made us feel welcome and showed a sense of urgency with getting us out when our toddler started getting fussy. We will be returning for special occasions to come. Best Italian in Denver.

We have been to Cativella numerous times and have had a wonderful experience every time. They have amazing staple dishes but their nightly specials are really what makes this place special. Their rabbit gnocchi remains my all time favorite dish of theirs. They also have a fabulous bar staff that is super friendly.

That "Italian restaurant" is not bad,but if you allow me to give some suggestions. Pasta was a bit overcooked, but the sauce was very nice. Calamari: no complaints at all. It was very well cooked and presented. The crostini di Fegato: too much bitter. The liver is already bitter, when you cook, you need to add some seasoning. Pizza: ingredients were excellent, but need to be cooked a bit more, and prosciutto should never be cooked. Should only be added at the end. Espresso coffee was nice. In the Italian restaurant, limoncello is offered in the end, as a way of saying thank you to the costumer. Atmosphere was very nice, like in South of Italy restaurants. Service was very nice and very kind waiter and very professional. Thank you for having us here.

We had dinner with family here last night and it was delightful. The food was delicious. Our server was great. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The only thing I wasn’t absolutely perfect was the building is a bit noisy. Other than that this place is perfect. For the food and service you get here, the prices are actually quite reasonable. We had 4 people. Two appetizers, 4 main dishes, desserts and 2 rounds of cocktails came out to about $50 a person. I will definitely keep this place at front of mind when picking places to go for special occasions.

wonderful location, casual but nice atmosphere. the service was on point, the food came out quick, and the food exceeded expectations again. The chef is particular hell of a team that complements her reputation. I must go to view in Denver particularly if you’re east of Colwell Boulevard.

I stopped in solo on a Saturday night, Chris was on the grill and he was friendly, personable, and didn’t make me feel weird about eating alone. I had the Calamari for starters, Steak and a glass of Pinot Noir. Everything was delicious. The Calamari was crispy outside and soft inside not chewy. The steak was cooked medium to my liking and I didn’t think I would finish it all, but it was so good I had to! Unfortunately I’m only able to share a pic of the calamari because I forgot to take a pic of the steak.

What a great spot! Everything was super delicious and the environment was top notch. The open kitchen concept is super cool, especially sitting at the bar to get the full experience. We watched them cook the whole time! We had the buffalo burratta to start, then had the butternut squash gnocchi and the Trenette for entrees. Need to try the pizza next time!

The food at Cattivella's is incredible. We came at happy hour so we could try lots of things and nothing disappointed. The rabbit gnocchi was my absolute favorite. Michelle was our server, and she was great. We sat at the chefs bar. It was fun to watch the magic happen.

The best Italian restaurant in Colorado, hands down. The food is incredible (highly recommend the salumi pizza, the pasticcio pasta, and the tiramisu!), the service is outstanding (Vitali is amazing, seriously!), and the atmosphere is fantastic. All of their wines are from Italy, and they are incredible across the board. An absolute must visit restaurant if you're looking for great Italian soul food. Book a reservation in advance if you can, because they can be busy (which won't come as a surprise once you've experienced how incredible they are)!

My favorite restaurant in Denver. While in Denver for work, I eat here at least once a week although this last time was twice! No matter what dish I’ve tried, it’s delicious. The service is also fantastic. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. The Happy Hour portions are a plus, too! I eat here with a person who has celiac and he’s not had any issues with gluten contamination.

Such amazing food, and Kim was wonderful, BOTH NIGHTS! We loved Cattivella so much that we came both nights of our 2 day stay in Denver. Happy hour from 4-6 gave us a great opportunity to try many of the beautiful dishes and we loved all of them. Lovely warm weather and very professional staff rounded out the exquisite experience. Thank you to Cattivella:)
