A great place for all sushi and poke lovers! The food was fresh and made quick. They have a lot of options and everything tasted great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The prices aren’t too high for the amount of food you get. I highly recommend this especially on a day in Denver! I will definitely be returning!
Casual quick food stop. Menu can be daunting if you aren’t sure what you’re looking for but they have lots of great options. Built our own plates and the price was still reasonable. Try the poke seasoned salmon or tuna!
Fast, fresh and friendly.
Was in town for a military meeting and came in for lunch. The staff was friendly and my bowl was awesome. I also appreciate the military discount they gave automatically.
They are just a few steps off 16th st mall. I'll come back.
Super fresh and yummy. Huge portions, especially if you opt for the bowl instead of the burrito. Poke pieces are a little on the small side but taste fresh. Nice service and lots of seating. We were in town for a conference and went back a couple times.
As a sushi guy. I'm am not 100% sold on a sushi burrito. I still like the traditional bit size sushi. On the flip side. Their soy wrap option opposed to seaweed paper was the bomb. Not to mention their taro chips are to die for. Great stop altogether.
Great place for something a lil different , 3.5 oz of protein for $17 ?! Little over priced but taste good, the outdoor patio in the sun is beautiful
Enjoyed the sushi bowl. It can get very expensive if you build your own bowl. And they give you alot of rice. I would have asked to half the rice next time. But, the food was good.
Very fresh ingredients, tastes great, and reasonable price! The make your own option is a lot of fun.
Unfortunately when they get busy, the wraps can become kind of fragile and fall apart. However! The wraps are still great when they fall apart ^^
Although “Poke Bowl” has become very popular all over the world I have never tried this Hawaiian cuisine before. As there are many Poke Bowl fast food restaurants in Denver I decided to try one of them during my visit in December 2018.
The “Motomaki” is situated in the 16th Street Mall inside the shopping area “Pavillions”. The “Motomaki” interior presents itself in a kind of a Japanese design. They offer sufficient seating inside and outside. Everything seemed clean and tidy. The staff welcomes customers very friendly when you enter the restaurant.
Customers can choose from 14 set dishes (approximately $8,00 - $12,00) or build their own bowl or roll. So Poke (which I didn’t know) can be eaten in a roll (similar to a burrito) or traditionally in a bowl. You preorder your food and wait around 5 minutes until your food is freshly prepared.
I tried the “mochiko chicken” in a bowl with a (free) side of ginger and wasabi. I found it plainly superb! The next day I chose “mean green” with extra chicken as a take out. Again I was delighted! (see fotos).
They offer a happy hour (Thursdays through Sundays / 3 - 5 pm) with $2,00 - $3,00 off bowls and cheaper drinks which is in my mind a really good deal.
My conclusion:
• excellent freshly prepared Poke Bowl food in many variations
• good value for your money
• friendly staff
• environment friendly (they recycle, use ceramic dishes in-house and cardboard bowls for take away)
I would give the “Motomaki” 5 out of 5 Stars!
My new favorite lunch spot downtown! This gem is hidden in the corner of the shops, below Express and across from Claire's/Forever21. It's better then the average poke place not only because they have so many options but also because they have SUSHI BURRITOS! Yes, sushi burritos!! The staff was incredibly helpful explaining the menu, bringing us samples of sauces to try and were just wonderfully friendly all around. You order up front and can either build your own burrito/bowl or order one of their menu burrito/bowls. For the build your own, there are little checklists where you can just tally everything you want (seaweed or nori paper, white or brown rice, mixed greens, protein from salmon to shredded beef, and so many toppings). I counted about 20 proteins alone!! The set menu combinations all looked amazing as well, I wanted to try every single one (but especially the Hawaiian one). We all did build your own and loved every bite! Standouts: how fresh everything was, the sauces (even the curry sauce was delicious, not what we expected). The ambiance is relaxing and feels clean, they also have a patio which I hope to enjoy their HH at many times this summer ($3 off bowls/burritos, $2 taro chips, $3 edamame and $3-$5 sake/wine/beer. Awesome spot, will definitely be going back!
Also, make sure you sign up for their rewards if you plan on frequenting! Free bowl/burrito on your birthday and for every 100 points, plus, you get 50 points just for signing up. Win win!
I love sushi and burritos. This is the first place I’ve had a sushi burrito and it was amazing! Employees were friendly. They have a big menu and ordering was easy. The food was prepared fast and fresh. Really clean dining area. I will absolutely be back.
Sushi bowls and burrito’s. We’ve all had them but this place is excellent. The quality of the ingredients alone had us wanting to go back. I had the salmon that was the perfect texture. Veggies were perfect in consistency as well. The wasabi was creamy and very SPICY which is the way I prefer it. A perfect stop after walking around the mall or even to kick your day off on a healthy start.
Fantastic rice bowl. Great portion size. Wonderful taste. Can't wait to come back and try something else.
I thought about this sushi burrito for hours after I visited. Been looking for such a place for more than a year. Scope of menu should cater to just about every taste in the quick sushi/poke world. Vegetarian and beef/chicken options are a gateway drug to diners experimenting with Japanese quick casual cuisine. The mochi freezer is strategically placed to be irresistible while you're in line....
Sorry for the camera work, but I really loved it. The staff was very nice and reasonably priced. My burrito was the number 7 at about 13 dollars. But the rice is not sticky like normal sushi rice. But besides that not bad
These giant sushi rolls are amazing! Some may say an abomination, I say, the perfect amount of sushi for any American palette. Lol I had the shrimp tempura. It was perfection 😊
I've never had, nor heard of, a sushi burrito before this place. Just the thought of one sounds ridiculous. But let me tell you what, just look at the picture. This was absolutely delicious, and left a pleasant "full" feel afterwards, even though I felt like I ate a lot. I will definitely return and gorge myself again.
Now it’s my favorite fast food restaurant. It’s always delicious, I know 2 location of those maybe someone knows where else , except mall on 16 and golden , also have in boulder I guess , but they have to grow , friendly and fast guys , helpful and always positive. And if u was in Japan once in ur life atleast , u know , here’s food very close to them (not to close, but closer then another restaurants). Thx. Good job .
