Great food & the owners attitude is raw, real and the reason I'll always give them my money. He's been mean, he's been sweet, but the food has always been consistently awesome. I hope they never change.
Best sesame chicken on the planet. Everything else is the best in both hemispheres. Need it delivered for business? 25 years of great, better than on time service! Peter rocks!!
I love all the food I've ordered from there! The people are nice. The delivery is fast. The food is fresh. It's my go to place now!
Luv this place by far my fav Chinese food here in denver
Best sesame chicken in Colorado! Great fresh food!
I love Peter's Cafe - the food is delicious and the owner is an amazing, authentic human being. I have been a customer since my parents introduced me to Peter's when I was a kid, and I will continue to support this great local business until the end of time.
My kids and I loved our time eating in the small dining area! Peter, aka Tony, was most welcoming!
Norah had one bad experience and now is bitter. I have lived close for twenty five years and have ordered over all of those years. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. People should know not to order last minute and then expect a credit a few days later. Most places I know will usually give credit for same day or (rarely) next day complaints on a mistake. I have never noticed a mistake, but sometimes there are new employees and everyone makes a mistake sometime. If you ever get a wrong order (and I never have) it is all delicious so to me would just be a delicious surprise.
Peter's a savage, love the food before it even came out.
The best orange chicken. Extra spicy!!! Sooo amazing. Plus everyone that works there is just great!!! Love. Love. Love.
Great food. Eating in, it was quite entertaining watching the owner. Dinner and a show!
My love and savior for American Chinese food. Came here for the 1st time on Christmas day to satisfy and General Tao's chicken craving and it did not disappoint. This is now my go to for american-chinese quisine.
It was all around just good for for a good price. I heard a lot about this spot all over from friends and co-workers and thought it would just be another mid spot and I was just flat wrong.
Also grabbed some lo mein and crab ragoons - all were good. Not all the dishes are absolutely spactacular, but for the price it's just an amazing deal. Can't wait to come back and try some more food from here.
I hope business is well for Peter, because this would be a huge loss for the neighborhood if it didn't stick around for a loooong time.
Came to this un-huge and wonderful neighborhood gem of a restaurant serving Chinese cuisine on a Sunday early evening as a party of three. We were seated right away and greeted by none other than Peter, the owner/proprietor and namesake of the restaurant. Ordered three dishes, which came out in about ten minutes. The sesame chicken is REALLY great, especially if you like a slightly caramelized sauce on the tender chicken pieces. Singapore noodles are very flavorfully prepared, and the simple, yet very tasty green beans were delicious too. There are only a handful of tables and seats, but that just adds to the charm of this restaurant. No MSG used in the food, if you care about that kind of thing. Very very highly recommended!
Perfect little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Some of the best Asian food I’ve had in a long time. The general Tao chicken was crispy and flavorful. The gentleman at the counter was very nice as well.
Wow wow wow! I was recommended this place, and I was not disappointed! The food was phenomenal, but I think above that, it was the atmosphere. This was my first visit and I was immediately welcomed with sarcasm and warmth lol. Peter is a character and his banter just made me laugh nonstop. The way he spoke when customers, you can tell they were regulars because it just felt homie. The cafe is small so it’s mostly takeout. If you can though I highly recommend dining in. I was also able to practice my mandarin a bit so that’s a bonus for me. Overall, Peter’s Chinese Cafe was a home away from home. The food was hot, fresh, and the portions were enough to share. Conversation flowed. I entered with a smile and left with a grin. Peter now has a regular customer. Till next time!
Best Chinese in town and my go to spot. Prices are extremely reasonable and service is always friendly! The food is by far the most authentic in town and they have awesome lunch specials. I live walking distance but have heard they also have a great delivery service. Don’t waste your money anywhere else
Truly GREAT little neighborhood spot.
Food was easily some of the best Chinese food I've had in Denver (if not *the* best — editor's note: get the sesame chicken).
The owner Peter was there who was a delightful human with a great sense of humor — and had lots to say about the neighborhood and its changes over the years (and had some good stock picks 😂 )
Sad it's taken me this long to find this place. Will be back!
Peter’s is definitely the best Chinese takeout in Colorado. You have to get the sesame chicken! It is absolutely the crispiest and most flavorful I’ve ever had. Even my dad, a Colorado native of 60 years, has crowned the sesame chicken as the best he’s ever had. The happy family and broccoli beef are always delicious as well. Also, this is one of the few Chinese restaurants that offers a gluten free option for most dishes, so my wife is able to eat here. The dining room is very small, so we always pickup and go have a picnic.
Peter wants to retire and give his restaurant to his employees. He has owned and run this restaurant for nearly 4 decades and he wants to retire. Sadly for him, he is committed to keeping the place running until his cooks are ready to retire. This place is a Denver treasure. Stop in to enjoy this man's commitment to food excellence. Engage with Peter to have a laugh. He is quite the character.
Peter's has been here since mid 80s. Although I've passed by here many times, this was my first time dining here.
Food was fresh, hot and good.
I would definitely eat here again.
Peter’s Chinese is the place to go on this side of town for delicious Chinese take out. I always get the chicken teriyaki with fried rice and their egg rolls. They hook you up with plenty of food to feed you twice. Their house made teriyaki sauce is legit. They are friendly inside, but keep in mind they are super busy! Everyone there works so hard to get your food ready as fast as possible. I respect their hustle and try to tip them well when I can.
Peter’s Chinese Cafe is a reliable standby for Americanized Chinese food in Congress Park. It’s got the lunch specials, the huge menu, and the familiar character of a long-running neighborhood restaurant. It may not be the best Chinese town (except for maybe the Sesame Chicken WOW!) but it does the job respectably and consistently.
We were in the area and found a gem! The customer service by both of the front staff was outstanding. They both were answering phones and helping carry out customers. We ordered our food and it came out quick, hot and super delicious! We were sat at a window table, given water and plates; a memorable experience as we originally ordered to go. We enjoyed the food and service so much we will become regulars for Chinese food! We tipped largely after seeing the best customer service we have every experienced. The portions were large enough for 2 plates. We had Kung Pao chicken and orange chicken. Both delicious I’d go for Orange chicken again.
I attended a birthday party here recently. While the place is small, the service and food was wonderful. The staff was so incredibly attentive and had the best sense of humor. Set in a really awesome neighborhood with a convenient location. 10/10!
