From the outside, this place doesn't look like much, but the folks working in there are making magic.
I had 12 wings and a side of Mac and cheese. The wings were good sized, the honey hot sauce was tasty and plenty used. The Mac and cheese, it was out of this world. One of the guys I was with said he wanted to go back and give whoever made it a kiss, it was that good.
Man this felt like being back home down in the Mid-South. The staff reminded me of my family. The waitress was running with her head cut off with a smile! I will be back! The Oxtails were perfect!
This is the best food that I had when I was in Denver. Hands down the best soul food in the area If I am guessing. You have to give this place a try. The oxtails, cornbread, fried okra, rice and gravy and sweet tea were all on point. I will be going back here If I am ever in the Denver area again. The customer service was awesome as well.
Visited from out of state and happened upon this place in search of soulfood, had so many people tell us there were no soulfood restaurants in the Denver/Aurora Area. WRONG!!! This place is The Bomb... everything cooked to order, flavored and seasoned just right, wished we found the spot earlier cause they would've got all our money. Just don't be super hungry or in a rush cause it takes a second or two to get your food, BUT the taste is definitely worth the wait.
I Didn’t Get The Best Pictures Of My Food, HOWEVER This Is Hands Down The BEST SOULFOOD In Colorado! When I Tell You I’ve Eaten At Lots Of Southern Styled Restaurants But Blazin Chicken Shack Takes The Cake! The Service Was Wonderful It’s Black Opened With Black Cooks The Food Tastes Home Cooked If You’re Looking For GOOD Soul Food Don’t Hesitate To Stop By And Show This Family Some Love 🙌🏾
WOW.
When I opened these wings I KNEW I was in for something special.
Very unassuming exterior houses what’s gotta be some of the best wings I’ve ever had in CO.
Mango Hab wings weren’t too hot, but you could tell the sauce was quality and made in house.
The lemon pepper wings were SMACKING. Great flavor and cooked to perfection.
I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu because this place did NOT disappoint and I can only imagine what other gems they’ve got.
The food here is very good. Probably the best I’ve had in Denver. Nice, chill, relaxing atmosphere. The location is small but they don’t rush you. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back for seconds.
I must say they have some Beautiful black women working here, providing A+ service. Atmosphere was great with good 🎶 music good drinks 🍸 and great food
Probably the best soul food I ever had! Everything was so juicy and tender. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu. Their wings and catfish were incredible!
Delicious! Haven’t had such tasty soul food since Montgomery, Alabama. Rave reviews of Catfish and fried okra. Black eyed peas cooked perfectly! Leftovers were delicious as well
Oxtails are amazing , the chicken is huge with the perfect amount of crispiness and juiciness the greens here are better then I’ve had from anywhere else in colorado and piled high, I didn’t get any of the catfish but oh my it smelled and looked so good my mouth couldn’t stop watering. can’t forget about the cornbread absolutely the best cornbread I’ve ever had in my life all around this place is a 10 out of 10 . Boy I wish they would have sent me home with some more cornbread . Thanks for the amazing food me the wife and son will definitely be coming back.. Go eat here you won’t be disappointed
This is the best soul food in Denver. And the vibe is always great. Love the oxtails. That gravy is so flavorful. The catfish and shrimp dinner is a winner too. Our go to spot when I don’t feel like cooking because I know it’s about to be delicious. It’s like going to your favorite Aunty house.
Loved the oxtail rice dinner, I actually ordered an extra to-go. The chicken, catfish, and sides were all good. Staff were friendly and I was amazed to have just stumbled into this place.
The food was amazing. We had fried chicken, catfish, gumbo, okra, collards, yams, black eyed peas, and cornbread. I think it was the best okra I've had. It was a small place and only one other customer was there, but they got several phone orders. Our server was polite but not friendly.
This is some of the best soul food I've ever had! The atmosphere feels like you just stepped into a little jazz café in New Orleans. None of the staff are in a hurry, and you will have to wait a minute to have your order taken and made. This is a good thing! You know it's gonna be great. This place will force you to slow down and take a second to just exist, which is good for your spirit. Then, once you're slowed down, you'll actually taste the excellent food and maybe you'll come to a solution for that problem you've been dealing with; the food brings clarity of mind and spirit. This place has soul-warming food and environment. Definitely recommended!
Loved it! I grew up in Mississippi - this felt like 1963 small town MS in a good way. Ambience, staff, flavors, menu selection took me home. I'll be back!
Fried chicken, okra, red beans/rice and peach cobbler. Mmmmmmmm
Some of the little hole-in-the-wall places are the tastiest. These ladies have a whole lot of flavor coming out of there with that catfish dinner. Both the shrimp and catfish were season 2 perfection. I won't speak on the macaroni and cheese because I still haven't found anybody that can beat Jim's and Nick's barbecues macaroni and cheese. I did sample the peach cobbler and it also was delicious. The ladies working here are very down-to-earth, friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this location.
I’m from Kansas City, looking for some soul food like my home town favorite. Some real fried chicken served here by real people who care. A great dinner spot for Mac and cheese, fried okra, wings, fries, it’s all good. There’s a vending machine here, too. Wednesday’s $1.50 a wing, 3 minimum. Hot honey and lemon pepper are the bombbbb
It's very easy to drive by this little unassuming place without ever noticing it! A friend told me about it so I decided to drop by. I'm always looking for real Soul Food, and I wasn't disappointed! Of course I had fried chicken! 😋 I ordered the wings and got 3 of them perfectly seasoned and fried! I got 2 sides, an abundance of wonderful fried okra and potato salad. I couldn't eat all of my meal, so generous were the portions! All for around $15! I sampled my lunch partners greens and her sweet potatoes, mmmmm good! 😜 Can't wait to go back. They have PEACH COBBLER ! 🤩
