Absolutely a exciting piece of Detroit history operating as a bar for over 100 years. If you're looking for a quality casual dinning experience that captures the pulse of the city, head to Vivio's in the Eastern Market.
The menu is casual but extensive. The restaurant is an intimate local tavern style building with a bar, booths, and tables. Outstanding service by Ronda fast funny greatness. We started with Bowl of French Onion Soup and Chicken topped Salad both spot on delicious. She had a Double Chicken Sandwich and me the Famous Bacon Cheese Lobster Melt OMG totally off the charts great. Place packed at noon lunch Friday we going back on a slower day to photograph much of the interesting interior with Detroit history on display.
If you're looking for a fancy dinner with a white table cloth and snooty waiter, this is the wrong spot. Eastern Market Staple. Saturday morning, before hitting the market, wait in line, get a table and a bloody mary then have one of the best breakfasts you'll ever have. We discovered Vivio's last year and never miss the chance to visit. Just another reason to love The D.
Can't be beat... .. for price, location and value. This is the classic Saturday-afternoon-after-shopping-at-the-Eastern-Market-watering hole.. I'm there almost every Saturday afternoon. Where else in Michigan can you get a whole bucket of mussels for $7.95? Friendly, great service, perfectly located and great bar food.
That’s why I liked Vivio’s so much. They didn’t judge me by my clothes, my speaking style, what car I drove, or who I was with. It was just good people who love what they do and that they can do it in Detroit.
