Jang Su Jang is better than Well Bean Tofu. I used to love Well Bean, but over the years, the prices have gone up and the quality of the food has gone down.
JSJ has probably taken over as my new favorite place to get soondubu soup (soft tofu). It's delicious and it is served boiling in a stone bowl. It's so fresh and hot that they give you an egg to boil in it.
I am a huge fan of galbi (Korean ribs) and soondubu combos and I thought that at $18, it was reasonably priced. The galbi was not that good though - very disappointing, but the soup and the side dishes made up for it!
I'll definitely go back! Sorry for the crappy pics!
Ok so finally one step closer to Madang – this is by far the best Korean I’ve found so far in Atlanta. Breakers is different it’s KBBQ – this is tofu soup and basically everything comes out cooked. So anyway, saw the good reviews and rushed to try this place out. I’m finally writing this, but I’ve been here about 5 times already, and after trying it the first time, we came back the next day…
Very yummy. Nice staff and attentive service. It's a very "authentic" Korean restaurant. Only 1 staff person spoke broken english. Luckily I had reviewed the restaurant and took screenshots of meals that looked good. I had the kimchi jjige which was a chicken and kimchi tofu soup that was somewhat spicy (chili paste). This was ok. Good but not my favorite. My
Favorite was the Japchae noodle dish. I added chili sauce to it and loved it. They serve the meal with a lot of sides. You can eat as sides or include in your meal (or so I gathered from other eaters). Luckily, while I was eating and face booking (as we do when we are eating alone), one of my fb friends shared these valuable Korean sayings. I promise they are accurate....enjoy!
Point 👆 *dough chew say yoh* = more of what ever you point at..
*mek jew doh chew say yoh* = more beer please
*go chew Jung ee soy yoh* = do you have chilli sauce
*cum sum knee dah* = thank you ko
Great Traditional Korean Food. Awesome place to bring non Koreans to try some korean food. Friendly staff and clean restaurant.
I had dolsot bibimbap and my husband had yook gae jang for the noodle experience. Awesome on both counts. The ban chan was 8 wonderful little dishes. Excellent!
Pricey, but Delicious. Jang Su Jang is a rather popular Korean restaurant here in Duluth. While they're primarily known for the tofu soup, I'd recommend stepping outside of that line and trying their other soups/stews off of their extensive menu-particularly the kalbi tang and yook gae jang. The seafood/beef soondubu is pretty good, but I'd stick with the soup rather than paying an additional $8 for the combo that comes with kalbi (majority of fat). Other than that though, service and decor are pretty up there-servers speak both English and Korean, are attentive and friendly. In terms of the decor, everything is larger than life-walls stacked with 100+ bowls on each side, large figurines as you enter the restaurant and hanging from the ceilings and more. It's clean and open-if you're new to Korean cuisine, I'd recommend checking out Jang Su Jang.
Best soon dubu I had in the Gwinnett area
Loved the food.. Outstanding and quick service!
The best ever. Words cannot describe how much i love this place. Everything is good! I wish i lived in Atlanta so i could come here weekly.
Do Yourself a Favor: Order the Mandoo. Trust Chloe and Jennifer Z: One thing that's for damn certain is the mandoo. It's fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious. The filling is well seasoned and they don't skimp - the dumpling is huge. The dough, carrier of flavor - which I feel is often overlooked in comparison to the filling- is juicy, just the right thickness and delicious. Lost in translation and don't know what to order? Hell, just order the dumplings. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
The soondubu is consistent and well made. They did change owners recently and the last time I went, I felt that it lost a little bit of magic but it was still tasty. The egg - which you should definitely add - enriches the jigae and creates a memorable experience.
Borrowing from Chloe, the other dishes are so-so. I'd stick with the soondubu and the mandoo unless you're feeling adventurous.
Banchan is well made and not reused which is always good to know (always make sure they're not being reused - it's becoming a common trend in some Atlanta Korean restaurants)
Yummy. Great Staff, Lovely Interiors, and Awsome Food!
Jang Su Jang has been in Duluth for quite some time now and is no longer considered to be "new," we've been coming here since they first opened in 2008-09. Since I don't recall my past dining experiences here as well as I should, when my family decided to celebrate a birthday here recently, I was able to snap as many pics as I could and write up this little review for you all. After many years, I decided to come back. What a pleasant surprise they have improved.

This slightly hidden Korean restaurant in Duluth (kind of like a Korea town north of Atlanta) is known for their ssam, or wraps. Bossam is a type of ssam in Korean cuisine in which steamed or roasted pork is wrapped in a leaf vegetable such as red lettuce or sesame leaf, often accompanied by condiments known as ssamjang or gochujang. It can even be wrapped in a kimchi leaf. It is usually topped with raw or cooked garlic, onion, freshly made kimchi, saeujeot (pickled fermented shrimp), or other pickles. There is a lot of food that comes with this dish and it is fun to make your own wraps and share with your mates.
Jang Su Jang is not a place to try during peak hours, because you’ll wait. Koreans know the place cold, are the bulk of the customers here, and keep coming back. I don’t blame them. The building is well and strongly built, with thick wooden frames that evoke an almost medieval sense of solidity. The tools used here, the stone bowls, plates for stone bowls, are again, solidly constructed, and show signs of heavy heavy use. People eat here, and they eat here a lot. In the beginning, water and barley tea. Banchan? As fresh as their reputation. Soon dubu, a rich and thick version of this dish. Bowls used lack the shine of new ones being sold at Super H, and show signs of heavy use. Bibimbap construction kit. Toss this over the rice (in a stone bowl, not shown). Other reviewers (e.g. Sean, of Take Thou Food and Chloe, of Chow Down Atlanta ) have remarked that the mandoo is exceptional here, the soon dubu (silky tofu soup) is quite good, and the other dishes are okay. Sean noted the freshnes
Quality Korean dining, in our case for lunch. There is an extensive menu split into rice, noodles, soups etc (70+ items) in English and Korean with pictures for some items. Pickles are served family style and there is a choice of white or purple rice. The dishes are served piping hot and although the tables are quite small, we had enough space for the dishes. Highly recommended is the seafood pancake (a thick, crispy fried batter with seafood and dipping sauce) and spicy beef dumpling soup (large bowl with red broth and big dumplings). Efficient service, plenty of parking.
If you are craving for perfectly executed Korean food, this restaurant guarantees that you will be satisfied. High quality protein, marvelously executed dishes and great service make this restaurant one of its own kind. I definitely recommend it.
The braised beef was so extremely tender and fall off the bone. Tofu soup is delicious and super hearty. Side dishes were tasty. Both soups were perfect for the cold weather! Service was amazing and fast, love the authentic Korean vibe!
Love the staff. Always very polite. Food is always very consistent as far as flavors. I always get the combo with galbi and tofu soup. Really really like the galbi seasoning here. Super flavorful to me. I can't eat meat that tastes like meat so the meat always needs to be marinated well. We also got this bowl of glass noodles but we didn't really like it that much. The broth wasn't spicy or flavorful as it looked. Forgot the name of the dish but it wasn't my kind of food. Bibimbap was good.
Very cute little Korean restaurant. Food great! I got the Ramen Soon Tofu and it was really good with lots of flavor. Bathrooms were clean. The service was spot on and friendly. We also got the Kimchi Jjigae, fried dumplings, and Bulgolgi which were all flavorful and well made. Definitely my new favorite Korean spot!
Good food and friendly service. Liked all the dishes we ordered and the side dishes were plenty and delicious. Seating was a bit odd but looks like they are still careful due to covid and Asians are very cautious. Grilled Mackerel was the best dish I had but the cold noodle (nengmeun) was not good.
Good Korean restaurant
Food was very good and good service.
Service is number 1
All side dish was good
Strong recommend it for family
Only one thing 5 people more tip charge 20% no matter what
I’m surprised how many times I have pass by this fantastic restaurant for the last 2 years and not knowing this is the best korean restaurant I’ve tried since I got here. The king beef rib stew is a must try guys. The tenderness of each bite is beyond satisfaction. We also ordered spicy squid, it’s really delicious too. Plus purple rice is one of my favorite part of this meal too. I definitely will go there again and again until I tried all of their dishes. A little expensive but worth I think
