The food and atmosphere was lovely! We were greeted by the chef. My husband had ostrich just to say he had it and was not disappointed! I had bison and tortellini that was out of this world! It's a very small venue and intimate. The music is on point. Hands down would visit again!

High end pricing but high end product. You'll be hard pressed to find a better meal in Durango. Everything we ordered was creative and exceeded expectations. Chef John escaped the Michelin grind of Denver to create this masterpiece in the mountains. We were so blown away by the food he came out to chat for a bit and go over some of what we just enjoyed. Great for the last meal of a trip if you are looking to hang an exclamation point on the end. I went with the Colorado Lamb Chops with Bison Demi, I still dream about them regularly.

We happened across this restaurant by luck while exploring the shops of Main St. I’m so glad we stopped! This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The pork belly appetizer was incredible. Lobster bisque was outstanding. Tortellini was cooked to perfection. Brussel sprouts were good. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. This is a must stop if you’re in the area. The tasty ice cream next door is a nice bonus too.

Over the top! Incredible menu that leaves you wanting to order multiple entrees because everything sounds so good! The cocktails, the salad, the desert… all were AMAZING!! Megan was the perfect server! She made the experience even more memorable, so be sure to ask for her!

The only thing better than the food were the owners! We had such an amazing time! The drinks were fabulous (Dark and Stormy & Old Fashion) the food was great (Tamahawk Steak & Scallops)

Wow! Everything from the staff to the food was 5 stars. I was celebrating my 40th birthday and the staff made sure to get us the best table. I ordered the bison tomahawk and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. So rich and flavorful! The Brussels sprouts are a must as a side dish. The goat cheese is a must as an appetizer.

What an amazing food quality. First time in this establishment but definitely not the last one. Lamb was amazing. So tasty and flavorful. We eat lamb very often. This one was as good as one we had in New Zealand. Ostrich was also delicious. Waitress recommended medium rare and she was right. Great texture and so lean. Don’t forget a bison tartare as appetitive. Great start with a bottle of red wine. The only thing I’ll change is a wine list. I’ll add a few bottles of red from Spain, Italy and Rhone Valley. See you soon.

Terrific food but an uninspiring dining experience. Some restaurants offer decent food but the service and ambiance elevate the experience to something special. My impression of Primus was just the reverse. The food (such as it was) was delicious, the service was competent, but the overall experience was lackluster. Perhaps it was our seat in what felt like a hallway. Or perhaps it was the uninspiring braggadocio of the owner/chef but I was left feeling as though we might have had a better experience for our not insubstantial spend. At the waiter's recommendation, we ordered the Wagyu tomahawk, described as "serves two" on the menu, with the the assurance that it would provide enough food for the five of us, especially since we ordered three appetizers. Having never dined there before, we trusted the server's expertise and followed his recommendation. The tomahawk was accompanied by a choice of 4 sides. When it arrived at the table the sides were served on a single plate, with just enough for each person to have a taste. Considering the dish was $300, and the waiter indicated it would serve 4+ people, I expected larger portions of the sides. Both the Bleu Bacon Brussel Sprouts and Harissa Cauliflower were excellent, I just wish there'd been enough for more than a bite. The beef was well prepared and we each had a small but reasonable portion. There was a disappointing fissure of gristle but that's always a risk with a large piece of bone in beef. We had a bottle of wine and several of us opted for cocktails. We shared several desserts, the flourless chocolate peanut butter torte being my favorite. All of this ran about $730 including the tip. The food was uniformly excellent, well prepared, and delicious, but as we spilled out into the street afterwards I couldn't help but feel as if $120/pp might have earned us a better experience elsewhere. When you try Primus, I recommend you request a table upstairs and do so as a couple.
