Hop Cat is a pretty great place for beers and bites. They have a plethora of beer options that you can’t go wrong with and they also let you try a sample just in case you aren’t sure. If you don’t want a beer, they have a full bar as well. Now this is my first Hop Cat and my second location is their Ann Arbor. Both are great. This location has wonderful staff who are very helpful, and the food is hot and ready. You must pay for parking unless otherwise stated but there is plenty of it. Occasionally, they change or add to the menu which is great for frequent goers like myself to try something new once and a while. Their pretzel nuggz with cheese and or their OG fries are crack, you can’t stop eating it. Their burgers are juicy, the grilled cheese they serve has apples and I don’t know why, but it works. Their pie is good as well, the one I’m talking about contains chocolate and peanut butter, I always forget the name, but the taste is righteous! Ohh and did I mention, they also offer beer to go, just saying. Enough said.
Great , host. service quick, I ordered Brisket Tacos, a bit overpriced for the amount of Brisket each had, I tried flour and corn tortillas. The slaw was maybe 2 teaspoons, not what I expected. I had to ask for salsa or sarza they were bland for my taste, but the waitress did bring pico de gallo. It was okay, and no spice (heat) tacos should have the option!
My sons ordered the Nashville Chicken they enjoyed their meals, a bit pricey in my experience, but they treated them!
Drinks, we're ok, nothing special
Margarita and Berry vodka drink. I did tasted 1 with berry it tasted like diet artificial sweetner, not my choice. I was hungry , and the fries and cheese sauce were tasty. Very trendy, older crowd, taking their kids out for a quick meal.
BTW, THURSDAY IS $8 Burger & Beer limited choices!
Great, to have feedback, We have been back in Royal Oak, close to home!
Ww hosted a group holiday meeting in their loft space. There was confusion when we arrived, but it was ironed out quickly when we arrived. We were seated, and orders taken quickly. Food was delicious and correct the first time for the group. Service was fast, kind and courteous. Dessert was tasty - Apple crumble! Yum! Price was right for what we wanted. Had a great time!
I recently dined at HopCat and had the pleasure of trying their Vegan Beyond Burger and Viva La Vegan Tacos. Let me just say, this place truly exceeded my expectations when it comes to vegan cuisine!
The Vegan Beyond Burger was an absolute delight. The patty was incredibly flavorful and had a satisfying texture. But what truly elevated this burger was the vegan jalapeño aioli. Its creamy and tangy combination perfectly complemented the burger, adding a delicious kick that took it to a whole new level. This burger easily ranks among the best I’ve ever had!
Moving on to the Viva La Vegan Tacos, they were a true culinary masterpiece. Packed with vibrant flavors and a perfect blend of spices, these tacos were a feast for the senses. The slight heat from the ingredients added just the right amount of kick, enhancing the overall experience without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness, leaving me wanting more.
However, I must mention that the service fell short of my expectations. While the staff members were friendly, there were some delays in getting our orders taken and receiving the food. It slightly dampened an otherwise outstanding dining experience.
Despite the service hiccups, if you’re a vegan or simply appreciate outstanding plant-based cuisine, I still recommend giving them a try. The Vegan Beyond Burger and Viva La Vegan Tacos alone are worth a visit. This place deserves commendation for their dedication to flavor and quality. I hope they can improve their service to match the excellence of their food.
Has vegan options! Offers a vegan burger and vegan taco option. The beyond burger is very flavorful. It has vegan jalapeño aioli, marinated tomatoes, pickled red onions & arugula. Served on a pretzel bun. The vegan tacos aren't as memorable. I believe the cosmik fries are vegan-friendly (going off what the server said), just skip the cheese sauce if you want to order vegan.
First experience at this restaurant a couple days ago. Nice atmosphere. Our waitress, I believe her name was Kaitlyn, was great! Since this was our first time we decided to get a lot of things to share and try. My favorites: brisket tacos, pretzel bites, grilled cheese sandwich, gouda bisque and their fries. My least favorites that I will not get again: both mac and cheeses pictured (not enough sauce and flavor was bland) and the brisket fries (the barbecue sauce was overpowering and very vinegary). I'm not a beer drinker but I decided to try one since they have a big selection, the rainbow sherbert was delicious. It was sour and sweet with a slight bitter beer aftertaste. We do plan to go again to try out the burgers and more beers!
HopCat is the most popular restaurant in Greater Lansing Area. The food is good, the staff is friendly and location is awesome as it is located right in the middle East Lansing downtown l.
Great atmosphere with TVs. Home brews with a full size bar. Our waiter Jason was amazing! He forgot our side salad but was very kind to still bring it out and took it off our bill!
Hopcat is so delicious! We enjoyed sitting upstairs just observing the scenery. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The food was also quite delicious. The fish was so good! The chili was a bit mushy (like it had been sitting a slow cooker all day) but still had good flavor. The fries were the perfect amount of saltiness.
First time there. Pretty cool place and great atmosphere. The food was really good. Had the pretzel bites and the cowboy burger to eat and a good old brown sugar old fashioned. I highly recommend it! They have food for everyone.
Visiting our daughter and wanted a quick bite. We decided upon Hopcat based upon the reviews. Being in a college town, service could be great or poor.
We were greeted immediately upon entrance and seated just a fast. It was shift change, so the guy that seated us came to our with his replacement introduced him and assured us we were in good hands.
We were well taken care and the food was delicious! The food portion was just enough to fill us up, without weighing us down. Chicken tacos, Mac and cheese with bacon, cosmik fries plus pretzel bites definitely hit the spot
You will have to park in a parking structure connected to the restaurant . It only cost us $2 to park, which was nice and the structure wasn't full. It could of been the time of day.
I highly recommend this restaurant!
Being from back west, I've never had the chance to go here until recently. Though, I've heard all about them. It's a small beer bar chain.
We visited the East Lansing location near the University and the place was packed.
They were good at getting us a table in relatively short order. The waiter, though very nice despite it being super busy, was apologetic. He kept us in the loop that the bar was backed up. So service would take longer than usual. I really appreciate that.
Hopcat has 30-45 different beers plus a kitchen. With that many choices available, it's hard not to find something. Just don't expect PBR, Miller & such.
Great atmosphere; place was thriving and electric. We had a good time despite longer than normal times. I would definitely go back.
Cool Environment! Great food Pricing.. We got the Burger and Beer Special! Awesome! Love the Tables with the 80's magazines! Nostalgic!!
Was here recently on a NCAA tourney Saturday night. Very busy but they did a great job handling the people. I had the bar zee, cosmik fries, cheese sauce, and side of red pepper Gouda bisque. It was all very good. Also got some Buffalo chicken wonton rolls to go. HopCat is an EL fave.
Solid food! Waiter was pretty attentive and the sandwich and fries were great.
Fast and pleasant service on a Saturday night.
As a fry lover, I can confirm these are indeed some of the best fries ever.
