Very cozy place. The food is great, and the owner is a sister and brother. They are so sweet and very friendly. Everything is homemade.
Family stopped by after visiting Goose Island State Park for the solar eclipse. My wife and I shared the 16oz chicken fried steak, and my kids ate one of their many burgers. I can say that the chicken fried steak was one of the best I have ever eaten. I followed my delicious meal with deep fried bacon with a side of maple syrup and deep fried nutter butters. All though both were amazing, the homemade peach cobbler will have me stopping by Emil's the next time I'm passing through.
Have been here a couple of times and very impressed with their food and service. Had seen an announcement about their having pork schnitzel and went the first day they served this. In fact, my sister and I were the first ones to order this dish. Came with their 'secret' mustard cream sauce, which we ordered on the side but ate every bit of it! was delicious, very tender, and the side orders were great as well. Schnitzel made with ground pork and bratwurst. Talked with several members of their staff, and all were very friendly and enthusiastic about their restaurant and so appreciative of their customers. Intend to try their home made sauerkraurt on next visit.
Best burger in town! Nice, friendly service. Prices very reasonable. Good milk shakes too.
OMG!!! Had heard GREAT things about Emil's but one never knows how accurate these stories were. Well LET ME ASSURE YOU no matter how glowing words cannot express JUST HOW DELISH their food is!!! I had a Gouda Burger with waffle fries and hubby had their Chicken fried chicken which comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. I haven't had REALLY GOOD burger in quite some time and this one was like COMING HOME!!! The only thing that hasn't been mentioned (and I personally think it should be) is that the exterior of the place isn't much to look at, but the moment you walk thru the door, you KNOW you've arrived!!! A DEFINITE MUST TRY!!!
This is a legit hamburger stop it’s been here since the 30s and there’s a reason that survive this long. There has to be at least 30 different kinds of hamburgers you can order all of which are extremely good.
this place may not suit all folks with it's full of memories and nostalgia atmosphere. yup, it is old and has some quirks, don't we all. i am 6'5" and have been here enough times to know to watch out for that one low beam. that's just the way it is. i would say emil's is comfortable and serves comfort food in ways you might not have considered. (lots to choose from). i have fallen into a rut. i look at the many choices but keep falling for my favorite and order the ruben. a ruben done the way a ruben should be done. anyway, the store is comfortable, the service easy going, and the folks the work there are warm and talkative. if you want to know something just ask. like a moth to a light, i will swope in for another ruben, maybe some other tasty order because i can. thanks to all at Emil's. til next time.
Burger was delicious, customer service great, calm peaceful place to eat and enjoy a delicious meal.
This place has longevity for a very good reason. Just drop in and see for yourself! Amazing burgers
Nice little mom and pop's type of restaurant. Nice small town feel to it.
Good food and it was quick!
