El Faro - Elgin - Photo album

Very friendly and welcoming employes especially the cashier. Food is best here from their other locations.
Went to the El Faro on State St. Parking wasn't easy to find, but I found a map. I will post. We both ordered the flautas, which were very good. We also started with steak nachos. Single layer nachos on cut up tostada, amazing. The service was great, we were only people in the place for about 15 min
Walked around the Cinco de Mayo fest in downtown Elgin today but the food truck lines were too long and I was too hungry to wait. A 6 minute walk later, I ended up at El Faro right past the Metra Elgin stop. This spot is open 24 hours a day and boasts of delicious, authentic, and cheap Mexican eats.
I order the Wednesday special 3 burritos for 14.65 after tax. I asked for steak with everything but lettuce and tomatoes. They gave me the wrong order and had an attitude when I returned. I informed the lady that I received the wrong order. She took the bag back with attitude and I told her again
Don't order enchiladas Rojas. They don't fry their tortillas. They heat up some quesadillas then put red chile sauce on top. That was the most expensive disappointment I have ever had.
Burritos are a bit different from El Faro in Summit but they are still good and tasty, tacos are different for me this time - they are with the steak and cilantro & onions, and quite good, though slightly subpar compared to Los Comales. Hours are great for Elgin hours as they close at 1am - certainl
Good service, food and atmosphere. Nice and laid back.
I had an extraordinary time in this restaurant. We loved the wonderful environment and the food. The staff members were very welcoming. I’m glad we ultimately decided to try this place.
