This is the absolute best place to get a variety of fast foods. Their chili sauce is an amazing compliment to the hot dogs with a snap, hot sausages and cheeseburgers. The staff is courteous and attentive. Definitely my favorite of the River City.

Great food! Great folks! We're here at least once a week, and never had anything we didn't like. Hot dogs are wonderful, and you won't believe the chef salad! Tiffany and her folks do a top notch job!
Fries are fantastic! Chili is to die for and the burgers are excellent. It's worth visiting just to see Lynette!
Visited Famous Franks while in Elizabeth City. Great atmosphere, great staff, impressively clean cooking and food area. The food was wonderful. We came hungry and left well fed and satisfied. FAMOUS FRANKS is a "must go to spot" anytime your in Elizabeth City.
Awesome food! Great people! I've been coming here, ever since the first owner, opened it!!
The food is awesome! Enjoyed the friendly service. Most important to me the coffee was fresh, with refills while we ate.
Last year I was down in Elizabeth City doing some photo work across the street from Famous Franks and made a mental note to visit next time I was in the area. Well, last Saturday was that day. Saturday May 2nd was absolutely beautiful outside and a perfect day for a drive. I hopped in the car, drove down through the bypass, hung a right a Powell's Roadside Market and proceeded to Elizabeth City. Once I crossed the bridge it was only another 5-6 minutes to Famous Franks which is located on old route 17.
I knew ahead of time I was taking a chance on them being open due to the current circumstances however upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised to see the parking lot was mostly full. As I walked up there people eating a makeshift tables setup outside and a sign on the door to wait there, someone would come out. Perfect. A moment later a lady came out and handed me a menu and said she would be right back.
When she returned I ordered a couple of beef dogs w/ mustard and onions and fries with a Coca Cola and handed her a $20. About 10 minutes another lady came outside and handed me my plate. The hotdogs were gigantic! I should have looked at the menu closer. The beef hotdogs were 1/4lb dogs. Sliced in half and grilled. No problem, challenge accepted!
I took a seat and enjoyed my meal, the perfect weather and some conversation with one of the locals. All in all a delicious meal, and after looking at the menu I think I'll probably be giving them another go in the future. They have a full breakfast menu and their burgers look delicious as well. Service was excellent from both staff members I encountered. This was an easy 5 star experience.
Great food! Awesome burger and dogs. Skip the Cookout, buy local.
Went there for the first time today. I have not gone before this because I am not really a hot dog lover and I didn't know they sold other items. I was pleasantly surprised that they also sold other items such as chicken and tuna salad sandwiches, club sandwich and burgers. Certainly enough variety to please everyone in your group. I had a very juicy and flavorful cheeseburger.
I was also surprised to learn that they have an extensive breakfast menu. I will certainly be coming back for more!
Excellent burgers! Love the home fries! Service was polite and quick. I'm not much of a hotdog fan so I had never thought of trying this place but you can tell they use the finest cut of beef and their rolls were fresh. Their breakfast menu also looks like something I'd like to try!
Great place with a family friendly atmosphere, yummy food and good prices.my kids love the mini corndogs, hotdogs and chicken tenders. I love the juicy burgers. The servers are personable and attentive. I want to try a smoked sausage but the burgers keep tempting me. Last time I was there they gave me a discount because she said my kid's meals should have come with drinks. I appreciate that.
Just left Famous Franks. This was my first visit. Two young ladies greeted us. They were very friendly. Ordered homestyle fries and corn beef sandwich, fixed the way I ordered. Food was soooooo good! Never had mac n cheese wedges. Awesome! The lady cooking was on point. I couldn't find anyone that had good tasting food in this town. Definitely will be back to try other items. THANK YOU!
Frank's is my favorite place to stop for lunch when I am in a hurry. Everybody is so friendly and for those that say the service is slow maybe you're used to fast food or something because that has not been my experience. I walk in order food and I get it in 10-15 minutes. Never had to wait.
Hotdogs are the best and you can't beat the brownie sundae anywhere for what they charge. It's huge!
I love little local small places and will always support them before a chain restaurant!
We have been here several times since it opened years ago. We usually go once a month. When the previous owner was in charge it was friendlier than it is now. The food is still great but staff just isn't as friendly/chatty, it's like it is more of a job for them and the previous staff had the happy look of 'this is more than just a job to us'. The atmosphere is great with TVs on (sports - one TV is quite large while the other is very small), they also have old pinball machines, a touch screen mini computer (on the bar with multiple games on it) and the classic stand up arcades. The restroom is decent and clean. They have regular seating (tables/chairs and booths) and they have a bar as well. We have only been there for breakfast once and they have not been serving breakfast for that long. I'm not sure if it is a trial basis or not. We got the pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and a bacon/cheese biscuit. The breakfast was just average. Nothing was special. The bacon was a bit overcooked. For the lunch/dinner menu we have ordered several different items. Our usual order is: 1/4 all beef hot dog, crinkle cheese fries, corn dog nuggets, and a 1/4 Angus beef hamburger. These are very tasty and we love them. They have great hamburgers and hot dogs. We have also tried their mac and cheese wedges, fried mushrooms, sweet corn nuggets, sweet potato fries, spicy buffalo chicken bites, Parmesan garlic fries and chicken wings. Everything was yummy and tasty except the buffalo chicken bites. We were not a fan of those and that is the only thing we would not order again from the lunch/dinner menu. BTW, their sweet tea is awesome. Make sure you get it if you like sweet tea! The reason for the 4 star review is the service (not as friendly as it used to be) and breakfast was a bit disappointing compared to the lunch/dinner food. 4.5 stars was not available!
Breakfast was very good. Real sausage is a plus and I will be back
This is our go-to chow stop when my cycling fellowship is doing ride-events in the area. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and the food is always awesome! Great burgers, brats and knockwurst as well as Carolina style pork barbecue. The brownie ice cream dessert is always a part of our chow experience!
