We just attended the "farm to table five course meal" sponsored by Providence CSA farm. I have to tell you this was one of the best meals by far we have had in a long time. The food was elegantly prepared and every single course was delicious! The wait staff was wonderful and very attentive! We first had drinks, and then shortly after we had a charcuterie platter that was so good. Our next course was soup, then two different salads. The main course was so delicious! For the main course we had the pan seared John Cross trout and Honey maple and cider glazed pork loin. I love the way they prepared them with the sauces. Providence farm veggies were very flavorable including Kale, Brussel sprouts, carrots, cabbage and green cherry tomatoes. I loved the way they prepared them all! It was definitely a treat for us.
I now know that this is the way to enjoy a fine gourmet meal, as we spent 2-3 hours enjoying this great meal and meeting and visiting with such nice couples. If Providence farm has another one of these meals we will definitely sign for one. Thank you Ginny for such a great meal along with Providence Farm. Your staff did an excellent job!
The meal at Saturday's celebration was incredible. The salad was refreshing and so tasty with tiny shreds is apple and a dressing that leaves you wanting more. The beef tips were melt in your mouth delicious. The homemade noodles were cooked to perfection with shreds of zucchini and summer squash that were tender and flavorful. The chicken breast was tender and juicy! The food was plated picture perfect for every guest. A Matter of Taste will not disappoint you!
So glad we had our wedding at A Matter of Taste- The food was great, but the property and atmosphere can't be beat! Thanks Ginny and Greg for helping with our special day!
We used Ginny for our food and drinks. Everything was absolutely amazing. We did plated foods and all our guests raved about how delicious it was. Ginny even uses fresh local Michigan veggies. We even were able to do a late night snack. All of our guests loved our signature drinks they helped create. Ginny was absolutely great to work with. She takes great pride in her business and it definitely shows. I could not have imagined our wedding day without her company being a part of it. We did not have our wedding at her venue but we did get to look at it and it's an absolutely beautiful place on the water.

What an amazing way to spend Thanksgiving! Thank you so much for opening your doors for our family/rehearsal dinner. The food was delicious, the staff was very gracious, and the location was beautiful.
What an absolutely beautiful venue and an even more amazing crew! We held our wedding here this weekend and had the most fun we have ever had! The food was incredible and the staff was so very accommodating with our event and sometimes rowdy bunch. So much love to Ginny and Greg!! Thank you. A million times, thank you!

We not only had our wedding catered by Ginny and Gregg, but also had our wedding at their venue. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, just like Ginny told me it would be. We did tapas during pictures, and they were absolutely amazing. They say a bride doesn't eat on her wedding day, well my husband made sure I got a plate of everything :). Next we had food stations with their amazing whitefish, mashed potato bar and many more! It was amazing! Everyone raved about the food, atmosphere and memories that all of us get to cherish forever. It was beautiful and unique...the best day of my life. Thank you so much Ginny and Gregg!!!
GET MARRIED HERE! I cannot say enough good things about this place and the owners. We got married here in August, and it was absolutely magical. Tapawingo is such a special place, and Gregg and Ginny are the most genuine, wonderful people. We felt taken care of from the get-go. The food was SO GOOD, especially the brisket and the Michigan salad. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Any couple would be fortunate to have their special day here.

A Matter of Taste was the wedding venue of my dreams for my July 2022 wedding! You cannot beat the beauty of the grounds at Tapawingo. Ginny and Gregg were nothing short of kind and hardworking when it came to our wedding day. Through two postponements, they always went out of their way to make us feel welcome at their venue. We love how they show off local flavors in their food and work so hard to make the wedding food and drinks reflect the location and the couple. It was refreshing how thrilled they were to purchase our favorite wines for the bar and incorporate my husband's English heritage by setting up a hot tea station for the guests. They even found a way to successfully serve my favorite ice cream at the reception. I wish we could relive our day at tapawingo over and over, but I know we will be back. Thank you again!
Ginny and Gregg are incredible people! From day one they treated my Fiancé and I like family. The venue, staff, food, etc, was absolutely incredible. The both of them went above and beyond for us and all of our guests! Thank you both so much for all you did! It was truly the best day of our life and we are so happy to of had it in Ellsworth with the both of you!!

Where should I begin! When we originally scheduled our wedding for 10/10/2020 prior to the unforeseen Covid-19 pandemic, we were quite at ease with the plans laid out for our wedding. Throughout the uncertainty of whether or not we would get to have our wedding at all, Ginny & Greg (the owners) were in constant communication with us throughout the entire process, going out of their way on several occasions to make arrangements for us that best suited our needs and made us feel assured that we would still get to have the wedding day we had been planning for over a year. When it came time for our wedding day, they delivered with tremendous service and even better food. We could not have asked for a better wedding day, or a more pristine venue to have all of our friends and family at! It truly was the best day of our lives and a large part of that was because of Matter of Taste. Thank you Greg and Ginny again for everything you did for us, and we look forward to coming back to visit for years to come.

Wedding Catering: Gregg & Ginny over delivered on so many levels! First we visited them to possibly have our wedding on site but ended up going with another location (it was a tough choice between the two, their Location is BEAUTIFUL!-Right on the lake!!) Regardless, we enjoyed Gregg & Ginny's company so much that we just had to have them involved in our wedding in one way or the other! So, we finally decided to have them cater our wedding and I am so glad we did! My husband and I lived out of state so we were unable to do a tasting before the wedding. We were slightly worried about this BUT we were put at ease when we sat down to eat. The food tasted AMAZING (the presentation was beautiful as well)! Greg & Ginnys team was able to roll with some last minute changes as well like adding fruits and veggies as appetizers & platting the bride, groom, best man and maid of honors food! When we get back to Michigan we will definitely be paying Gregg & Ginny a visit and trying some of their other delicious food! Also, check out the other activities they offer on location! Such a fun place with wonderful owners!
Absolutely beautiful "up north" venue! The owners were very gracious & they and their property impressed us so much that my daughter booked her summer 2024 wedding here! We can't wait!

My husband and I booked "A Matter of Taste" for our wedding at the Boathouse in East Jordan and Gregg and Ginny delivered. Our wedding meal was just as good as our meal during the food tasting, not to mention that it was plated beautifully as well. We had the Lake Michigan salad served with Chicken Chardonnay, Beef Brisket, Bucatini Pasta, and Seasoned Vegetables. Every part of the meal was extraordinary. Everyone raved about their meals and we couldn't agree more! We were especially blown away with the Beef Brisket. Our guests have still been reaching out to us regarding their dinners and commenting about it being "the best wedding meal that they have ever had".
Some of our guests requested a vegetarian or vegan option. Without hesitation, Gregg mentioned a way to accommodate those guests. Not only were they extremely pleased with their meal, but they were blown away! We really appreciated their ability to accommodate ALL of our guests, even with last-minute changes. Their staff's professionalism and friendliness were noticed by all!
I would not hesitate to reach out to Gregg or Ginny about your catering needs. They were wonderful to work with and exceeded our expectations.

Ginny and Gregg are incredible. They are kind, engaging, and so so talented at what they do. We utilized them for a reception venue as well as our caterer and everything was insanely perfect. They are very relaxed and laid back and you can certainly see why. They know their property, this business, and the ins and outs of every little detail. They are so experienced that it literally took away all of the stress of the wedding. Not to mention the food is incredible! Everything is locally sourced and fresh and you can certainly tell. Also, the property alone is stunning!!! This is such a gem and I had so many people ask how we found it! Do not let this place pass you by, I would work with Ginny and Gregg over and over again!
If you're looking for a wedding caterer in Northern Michigan look no further. Ginny and her team catered our Hotel Walloon wedding last month and we are so pleased with everything. The service was efficient, the food was warm and delicious and the staff did a phenomenal job overall. We were able to get a tasting prior to making the commitment which I found to be very comforting. I would 100% recommend Matter of Taste at Tapawingo to anyone in the search of the perfect northern Michigan caterer. Thank you Ginny and team!
We used A Matter of Taste for the catering for our wedding and the food was SO amazing, everyone was very pleased. However throughout the process the communication with them was difficult. I would get no response to emails or it would take a long time. However, I tried to remember that they are running a restaurant and a catering company so they were extremely busy. Although it was a bit frustrating, I do not regret using them. They were excellent the night of the wedding, the service was great and the food was delicious.
The food was very good. Not awesome, but very good. The setting is beautiful. My reason for only 4 stars is portion size. Only 2 small pieces of sushi for the first course. The salmon entree contained a very nicely cooked piece of salmon and fresh veggies but it was probably only about 2oz of salmon. For the price there should have been another piece of sushi and at least 4 oz of salmon.

While planning our wedding in Traverse City, my husband and I considered a handful of caterers. We were drawn to A Matter of Taste because of their focus on seasonal, local ingredients, and their willingness to work in Traverse City. We opted for family style service with a plated salad; all of our guests loved the food. Ginny was helpful during the planning process, going through place setting options and table setup.
**Note: we found that the phone was the best way to reach A Matter of Taste.
Even though it's a cloudy day this is beautiful.
Had a wedding there and it was just great, down to earth staff they were very professional and courteous. Would recommend for anybody wanting to do a wedding upnorth.
