This place really provided a great sub sandwich with a home made sub bun after a long ride to Glen Arbor on my bike! An excellent moist bun filled with a large amount of meats and great Italian dressing. Plus they were accommodating to an allergy. I will definitely be back more often now that I’ve found this little gem of a deli and for sure will give that pizza a try!
The fastest sandwiches you’ll ever get. The long was pretty long but once you order you’ll get your food within 5 minutes!
I got the Three Brothers but pressed and my friend got the Carl Bradley and we shared half and half. It was the way to go in order to try both! Both really good.
There’s also a lot of picnic tables outside where you can hangout and eat!
No exaggeration- I ordered the Fitzgerald sac lunch combo (sandwich, chips, & drink $15) and it was the most delicious sandwich I've ever had. The pretzel bun was perfectly salted, a great big amount of turkey, the herb mayo was *chefs kiss*. The one sandwich filled me and my husband right up! I love the atmosphere and all the sandwich options. Please don't change a thing- you have perfected it! I love that it was a short walk across the street from the Empire Lakeshore Inn- where we stayed!
My husband and I ordered subs. They were nicely warmed and filled with fresh ingredients. The subs were both really filling. The place was clean and well staffed. Staff was friendly and helpful. My husband also got a cherry chocolate chip cookie, we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Not that we really had room after eating our subs, but sometimes things just look too appealing to pass up.
Bench seats inside, outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas outside. The one thing we recommend is more kid-friendly breads that’re easier to chew but man, everything tasted so FRESH! Even our 4 year old said, “this grilled cheese is AMAZING!” I loved the vegetarian sandwich, which I believe was called the Griffin. Also liked that the chips were local. 👌
Wow I was not expecting my lunch to be that tasty.
A wonderful place with quick service and one of if not the only place open within a few mile radius that was actually open in late April when I was here.
As a vegetarian normally the veggie options are normally lacking in flavor and always predictable ingredients. But nope they made a wonderful wrap with great onions and bell peppers with eggs.

Passing through here, heading to Sleeping Bear, and we LOVE to find little local places to eat. This place was busy, so we figured it had to be good! There is no indoor seating, it's all outdoors, which was perfect for us! The staff was super friendly and helpful, despite being so so busy when we arrived. Everyone was smiling and happy, and they were happy to offer suggestions of the best sandwiches to try out.
This place is just adorable! I love how it's set up, and how cute it is! We ordered our food, and got a buzzer so we would be notified when it was finished. We had our pups with us, and even got a small kids sandwich for them to share! I just love how accommodating they were to all of my questions and how friendly everyone was! I found the price to be very fair for the food we got! I want to go back just to eat here again!
We made it here for lunch. The sandwiches were really good would definitely be interested in trying out their breakfast. The service was also really good. Employees were friendly and got everything out pretty quick even though it was starting to get busy.
Every time we run the sleeping bear dune marathon we have to go to Shipwreck Cafe. They have amazing sandwiches. Service is stellar. Sandwiches came out very fast. Sandwiches are delicious and filling. Clever names for their sandwiches on the menu and they also have local branded chips. Highly recommend.
Only negative is there is not much room for dine in if it is not nice outside.
Awesome little sandwich shop, we make a point of stopping in several times during our yearly vacation in the area. The Fitzgerald sandwiches are amazing!
Good lunch stop today at Shipwreck Cafe!
The staff were working super hard to get sandwiches out quick, and were very friendly.
I loved my vegetarian sandwich - the marinated peppers and pretzel bun were amazing. Next time I’d ask for mustard on the side though, as it became a little much.
My husband said his turkey sandwich was good, but dry, and that my sandwich was more flavorful.
We sat outside, which was nice, but we wished for umbrellas on the tables. Just be prepared to sit directly in the hot sun!
Overall good, and we’ll be back when we’re in Empire again 😊
Food was very good. Cuban sandwich was super. Chocolate chip cherry cookie was dynamite! They gave us the wrong soup but it was still good. Take your meal a couple of blocks down to the lake shore. A perfect lunch stop.
What a great stop! I'm glad we stopped when passing through. This small cafe has the best sandwiches and soup. We ordered the chicken club sandwich and chicken noodle soup. The bread had sea salt on it but not too much. The bread was crisp, and the meat and toppings were fresh. There isn't much seating inside so we ate it on the road.
Great little cafe with yummy sandwiches! Lots of reading about ships that wrecked in Lake Michigan! Good service and friendly atmosphere. Seating only outside.

Great little sandwich spot in Empire! Doesn't look like much, but creative selection of tasty sandwiches- SS Nordonic and Rouse Simmons were excellent! Walk over from the Sleeping Bear Dunes Center and grab a bite before hiking the dunes.
Really enjoyed the rouse Simmons sandwich after hiking around the dunes. Was pretty good! Pretzel bread is really good, roast beef had great flavor and was not stringy or tough. All veg toppings were fresh. Everything was made quickly and perfectly. Decor is pretty cute, everything to do with shipwrecks obviously, lots of neat maps
Ordered one of their sandwiches that was on a pretzel bun, asked if it was hard? The young man said it wasn't as hard as I thought it was, fair warning it was to hard for my cousin and I to eat. I cannot give a rating on the food because I couldn't eat it. But, the service was excellent 👍
Locally family owned. Fantastic homemade sandwiches using fresh ingredients. All the various dressings used are homemade also.
The place does not look like much and you could very easily drive right past it. Make sure you don't!
They're homemade seafood chowder is some of the best I have ever had.
