Decent Place, Employees are all friendly and warm. Enjoyed the place! Went as a group of 15 people, we all had really good food. Value for money restaurant. The Hibachi chef’s have good skills. Their display while cooking is awesome!

Very friendly Chinese staff at Japanese themed restaurant. Seated quickly, orders taken within 10 mins of seating. Semi-attendant waitstaff.
Highly entertaining display, special dietary need addressed.
Sadly, one of our party had to wait 35 minutes for his Yaki Udon noodles. This simple dish-Udon, prepared quickly in its home country, Japan, takes no more than 5 mins. I say this with assurance that we've ordered it on many occasions in many different settings. You can get this dish, any truly, in minutes while standing on a train platform. We've even crafted it at home.
We obviously know we don't live in Japan any longer. Things from the back kitchen are not well done or in a swift manner (tepid soup, other dishes took 15-20 mins, iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing).
However, we went for the experience. We went early enough to avoid the rush (and it did come while we were there dining), and the manager offered a military discount.

Hibachi Chicken, Hibachi Scallops, Yaki Udon & Yaki Soba-Main
Overall, decent meal. If you're not ordering from the Hibachi menu, be prepared to wait. Fairbanks standard fare.
Food is always wonderful and great prices. You definitely get your money's worth when eating there. Soup, salad, veggies, rice, and your meat choice. Would recommend for a fun night out.

Very tasty and friendly. I usually having dinner at shogun and feel like my home. Server are friendly and take good care of me . The hibachi chef like to have fun with me . Environment are clean and food are delicious . I recommend this place to have lunch and dinner.
Love it! Surprised about the number of complaints. Friday and Sat. Get busy so expect a wait but food is always great and service friendly! Lunch is empty, I take my kids all the time. Sooooo good!
Great food. We have eaten here 4 or 5 times, lunch and dinner both. It's almost always been good. The salads are good, the scallops are my favorite. It's a bummer they don't offer sushi rolls (since they said they modeled themselves after Benihanas). I like that they have wine and beer too. Jackie is a great chef. I have never had trouble getting seated inside of 10 minutes.
Very entertaining. My husband and I went to lunch on valentine's day. We sat with two other nice couples, the server was prompt and courteous, the cook was an absolute delight to watch. I will be sure to return with my children.
It's hibachi!!! You hate a table to fill it up! Stop complaining and learn to relax! And who says you can't bring a toddler?!? My children are two and six and they LOVE shoguns! The waitstaff talks to them and the man cooking puts on a show. We love this place! Lunch time is cheaper and less busy. Great food fair prices.
Awesome food..fun and friendly staff...for those who are uncomfortable sitting with strangers don't go to a Hitachi restaurant... I'm irritated reading reviews about silly complaints...you fill up the tables if you want your own table go eat somewhere else!!!
I took my wife there for our anniversary and grand-daughter for her eighteenth birthday. Total of eight of us at this tepanyaka style resturant. Prices are reasonable to very high for some combination choices. The food was well prepared and favorable. Most choices come with Miso soup, small salad served quickly. Too quickly if you order appetizers. Both came before our appetizers. The Chef puts on a good show and cooks and serves your meal choice with vegetables and egg fried rice.
Love This Place!. I'm surprised the written reviews for this place aren't better compared to the amount of likes it has received. We went for my son's birthday last night and we had a great time. Our waitstaff was excellent and it was just overall a great night. I've never been in there and saw any grumpy customers. Everyone is smiling and laughing. My husband isn't even a big fan of Japanese food and likes to eat there. We will be really disappointed if they ever close.
I just want to add for the people complaining about open seats and still having to sit with other families, it is because they put on a show for you. If you don't want to sit around the table for the show, you have the option to sit in the quiet dining room. And we were served immediately. They didn't make us wait for more people to arrive.

Arrived at 8pm, was told the wait was 40 minutes. Didn't get seated until 9:30. Didn't leave until 10:40pm. If I knew it would take that long I would have gone somewhere else. The food was good and the chef kept kids entertained.
Enjoyable. I found Shogun enjoyable and entertaining. Prices are very reasonable and ample food served. I will eat ther again.
Great food, entertaining chefs, and a beautiful atmosphere! Esspecially fun if its someones birthday... they turn the lights into a dicso like thing and "happy birthday" plays on their loud speakers and u get a free icecream tempura :)
My group and me had Christmas eve dinner at Shogun, and it was a great experience! The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, and the service workers were cheerful.
Service was immediate and our setting was clean. The hibachi experience was fun and fiery! The food was delicious.
Overall, great experience!

I had fun at Shogun Japanese Restaurant. I went in as a solo for Hibachi lunch special at 1:30 and there was no one else here. Thankfully, a group of 12 young Army guys came to sit at the Hibachi table where I was sitting. I appreciate dining with people I don’t know. Community tables, I’m all about it. The chef made it fun but it could always be more fun and entertaining. Awesome flavors and huge portions! My steak tasted like a dream. It was yummy. The army guys pulled a prank on their fellow army person and said it was his birthday, which was a fun event at our table. For $14.95, I had a full huge meal plus endless hot green tea. I tried to catch a piece of broccoli in my mouth twice and made it once. I had fun. The after flavors of the food were good. I loved having both noodles and fried rice with my food. Fun experience, I am thankful my table was not just me. Yes, I will return, I am curious about the lamb hibachi.
My friend and I are medical traveler and Alaska in general has shown us nothing but LOVE! Shogun has just put the icing on the cake. We had a blast, the food was amazing and we enjoyed the people too!

Food tasted so good that I forgot to take a picure before chowing down (there was originally much more on that plate in the picture). As far as hibachi is concerned, this place is top notch in terms of taste and price. There is no way I could get this type of experience at this price point at home so I'm glad we went. We ordered thd chicken/steak hibachi lunch combo.

We had a great dinner and enjoyed the show while the food was being cooked. The atmosphere is really fun especially when you have friends with you. We had the chicken hibachi combo and it was delicious. There was enough food for 2 meals in one order so had great leftovers the next day!
Staff and food are amazing as usual. They actually make you feel rushed by giving you the bill early to pay but you don't have to rush. It's just their way of business. The chefs are also so funny! Great place to treat someone to their birthday because they do a whole birthday number.

Very good food and affordable prices! The hibachi shrimp was excellent as was the hibachi steak! Chef was great at both cooking and entertaining myself and my wife! Service was great and staff was very friendly and professional! We will be returning!
