Went to the banks this last winter and it was awful. We decided to give it another try this summer and have been very impressed. The new food and our waitresses have been great. There Mac and cheese pizza is our favorite. If you haven't been there in a while, give it another try.
Fish Tacos - nice treat for lunch. Halibut in lightly-crisped flour tortillas served with avocado slices. Great flavors, nicely put together. I went mid-week for lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found the place airy, bright, and with friendly staff. The food was delicious and service prompt. I have to say with all the negative votes here, I may have been lucky, but I plan to give Banks another trial.

Ok experience. So we went in on a Saturday around 5pm, was seated right away. Nice atmosphere, ordered drinks right away, a margarita and a glass of chardonnay, the margarita was ok and there was only 2 kinds of chardonnay and not popular brands.
We ordered the calamari for the appetizer (just had a bad experience the night before ordering calamari from Fukushima, where the octopus was labeled as calamari and was super rubbery) was very surprised it was almost as good as the calamari at Chena Hot springs. The mac and cheese was very good, very cheesy and pretty rich. I would recommend it as a side instead of the main meal. My boyfriend had the elk burger and it was medium done and the sweet potato fries were cold and to soft. We did have to ask for them to bring us water. But the waitress Kelsey was very nice and made sure to check to see if we needed anything.
I read several reviews regarding The Banks Alehouse before going and was was not expecting much, but the person I was taking out to dinner wanted to give it a try. Our party of three arrived around 6:30 to find a large number of people waiting to be seated even though there were quite a few booths that were empty. We were told it would be about 25 minutes to be seated. By the way, they don't take reservations. We decided to go into the bar area to wait. That area was packed, but we were able to find the last table available and settled in. It turned out that we could order off the same menu as the dining area, so that is where we stayed. Our server was quickly available and was very friendly and polite. We each ordered a beer from their extensive selection and those arrived quickly. After reading a review that did not put a positive spin on their elk burger, I decided to question our server about it. It turns out all the meats used in the burgers and sausages comes from Indian Valley Meats near Anchorage. This is a quality company known throughout Alaska. So I ordered the Green Chile Elk Burger with coleslaw. It was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful elk flavor. I was not disappointed in the least. The only problem I had was that it was served on a very large plate that affected the perceived value of the meal. Even though there was plenty of food on the plate, it didn't seem that way. A bit smaller plate use with this combination would do a lot to help the customer feel they were getting value for their dollar. Anyway, I was more than satisfied with the taste of the food, portion size, and hospitality of the staff. I would have non problem recommending this establishment to friends.
Went there soon after the opening and expected slow service and wrong orders. However, we were delightfully surprised with both. Food was excellent and service was spot on and expedient. The only discrepancy was it took 30 minutes to be seated on a slow afternoon. I highly recommend this place especially for a Fairbanks restaraunt!
1st night opening. Overall impressed with the food. Understanding its a new concept with new staff, today is a good what I will call a "stress test". Once staff gets more comfortable it will be great. Having a bit of patience will allow for a great experience.

Big space. Ordered the French Onion soup. Had gotten a pizza to go here before, but it wasn’t memorable in a good way. Maybe I custom ordered the wrong combo. Soup was yummy. Great service. WARM in here.
Good burgers and great drinks. Seated promptly and the server paid attention to make sure our drinks were never empty.
We decided to give this place a try as it was one of the only places still open at 8 pm. Despite the previous reviews we actually had a pleasant experience. The food was all delicious and the draught beer was super fresh. Totally recommend a burger and the aroma dome ipa from the local brewery in Fairbanks.
Only place we could catch the Stanley Cup Finals and have a cold beer before our flight back to Tampa. Good atmosphere, nice staff. The apple cinnamon desert is everything!
For Fairbanks, this is one of the top restaurants. It's a modern, comfortable atmosphere. Bar side with many tvs for sports, and a traditional side without tvs.
The menu offers typical American food options, but with Alaskan twist with gamey meats. Decently priced.
My experience here was good. Service was prompt and food was was delicious. I would go back!
