The food was innovative, fresh, fantastic! Tempura corn kernels? Who knew!! Kimchi Brussels sprouts? Amazing! Duck breast? Melt in your mouth! There wasn't a single dish that I could fault. And the sake recommendations were spot on. Well worth the drive from San Francisco ... well worth the drive from ANYWHERE!

LOVE this place.. the food and it's presentation are spectacular. We ordered 8 (or was it 9?)dishes,(2 desserts) shared by 3 people and each dish was marveled and moaned over. Favorites: the black cod(OMG) and the smoked salmon w roe (double OMG) and the pork belly skewers (triple OMG). And I must mention the deliciously surprising curried spaghetti squash. The mochi dessert w cardamom ice cream was a revelation and a lovely way to end an incredible dinner.. Best to book a table or you might have quite a wait. And don't forget a warm sake.

Fabulous food! Especially the Village Roll and the kimchi brussel sprouts! I could eat those all day. Enjoyed the Soul of the Sensei sake. Service is precise and almost too fast! Very friendly and helpful. Hot food arrives pipping hot. The only negatives, the wait list system is hit or miss, you MUST sign up online at precisely 5:00 to get a table before 7:30. And there was a large group when we ate and the acoustics were atrocious. My hubby and I couldn't hear each other talk. It didn't matter too much because we mostly just stuffed our faces all night and ended with the donut holes with miso caramel sauce for dessert... This place is not to be skipped.

Great food, very fresch, tasty, original, authentic. Just a little bit noisy but I've had a great time there.

Excellent. Best sushi meal ever. Highly recommend Village Sake. Worth the wait. Plan on arriving in Fairfax and putting your name on the list. They will then text you when your table is ready.

Most definitely the best sushi in marin. Innovative, great service (thank you, Francisco!) And the freshest, most delicious fish.

Uh...DUH!!! It's ALWAYS good! My only complaint is the octopus! The menu changed from a seared tentacle (which was AWESOME)...to Croquets?!! No bueno. Nevertheless, I shall return. Good stuff...

We came too late so some of the most popular dishes had been sold out. We still had a great dinner. All dishes are tasty. The place is kind of understaff, it’s hard for us to get service after being seated in the corner.

Highly enjoyable flavors in alomost all of their dishes. The rolls, Nigiri, and such are very good but you can find that in other places. Stick with the other dishes if you want a unique flavor experience. A funky Fairfax vibe to the place, which many like, but just know this is not a high end vibe. Most tables are on the sidewalk or street. Service is pleasant and good, albeit a bit slow at times as they are always busy.

I almost don’t want to post about this place because it’s already hard to get a table here. The chef here is an absolute artist and I don’t mean it in a Michelin guide kind of way , every bite is exact and well thought. From the amazing greens salad to the most tasty appetizers and fresh sushi . Top Top notch. Great portions and friendly staff. Easily top 3 in the entire bay .

Just amazing flavors and presentation. Cant miss and the wait time was very minimal with the call-ahead system. We called right at 5:05 and got in easily, it was a Sunday night.

My group shared small plates spanning about half of the menu. Loved everything! The asparagus is served in a heavy sesame sauce and was fantastic. Sushi was fresh and prepared very well - from rolls to sashimi.

Everything was great! Will be back again. Got there five minutes before they opened on a Friday and there was already a line of ~15 people. All the tables were taken by 520-530

Fairfax scored having such a high quality sushi restaurant in town. The food is always impressive and as long as you know the trick to getting on the waitlist early, you'll be so happy you dined here. If the Ocean Trout is on the menu, I think it is a must.

Just walked and it was much better than expected. Nice to have such quality food. The fish was fresh and cut correctly on the nigiris and rice was perfection. They had lots of sake there, but I don't drink it so can't say much about that. Delicious

Amazing sushi and reasonably priced. Omasake definitely worth it. Also recommended the ahi tuna crudo. Staff are attentive and nice. Space was clean and simple. Street parking was easy to find. Highly recommend.

The Village Sake Izakaya is a highly trendy and stylish izakaya that serves real cuisine and can be located in the center of the lovely area of Fairfax. The district of Fairfax is known for its gorgeous setting. The diner can be situated along a path that receives a significant amount of foot traffic. This establishment provides every single one of the traditional Japanese appetizers in their most authentic versions. These include the octopus croquettes known as takoyaki, which have a crispy surface and a smooth inside; okonomiyaki; tataki, which is prepared with silky smoked hamachi; and coconut mochi cake, which comes replete with cardamom gelato. All of these dishes can be found at Japanese restaurants. If you really have to eat sushi, there is only a limited range of mouthwatering nigiri for you to pick from; if you have the chance, you should give some shima aji and kinmedai a go. This location has a layout that is quite similar to that of Tokyo, with tables that are packed in close proximity to one another, an assortment of wood décor (including a live-edge wood counter), and a cheerful staff that is mostly comprised of Japanese nationals. You should be prepared to spend a substantial amount of time in line, particularly on the weekends, since this is a popular destination that does not accept bookings.

Wow! Just finishing out appetizers. Best hamachi crudo I’ve ever had. Perfected cooked steak skewers. I’m a foodie and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country and this is perfect. Fast service
