We Ate Well Tonight...
Tonight we attended BernBaum's for a rustic Italian dinner. I learned a new term-Involtini and I will never forget it. For those of you that have never had the chance to taste an involtini, it is the most perfect roll-up of flavor, eggplant filled with mint, raisin & feta covered in a garlic tomato sauce. Heavenly. I felt the urge to talk with my hands like a true Italian after the first bite, and I’m half Italian as it is! Then came the pasta pillows that were so rich, stuffed with ricotta or lamb/pork ragu depending on your choice. Ike & I passed our portions back and forth unable to determine which was better because both were just so damn good! Finally, there was the Meyer lemon semifreddo. Tart and sweet and the quintessential ending to a satiating savory meal. BernBaum’s is so unassuming, so unpretentious. From the personal call from Amy to remind us of our reservation, the kind conversation at our table with Camille, Paul’s graciousness after congratulating him for the magic he makes in the kitchen to the welcome and thanks from Andrea as we entered the door. One can’t help but feel like we’re at their dinner table in their home having Sunday dinner because we’re friends. Oh to be friends with these people! The absolute best! Thank you for such a wonderful evening!
Everything was absolutely delicious, the bagel, salad, knish (best I've ever had), and a spectacular Turkish coffee/Cardamom brownie. Hands down one of the best lunches I've had in months. The staff was also very friendly and nice.
This lunch was amazing. First time in, and I’m just blown away by the fresh flavor bomb!
Keep it up guys, I’m definitely coming back.
From the items we shared; The lamb meatloaf sandwich, a salad, a cup of the mushroom and rutabaga, and the lox and gravlax bagel plate, not one item disappointed, and in fact was soooo delicious.
Wow this place is a hidden gem in the downtown area inside Mid Mod. I tried the heirloom tomato salad and it was out of this world extraordinary. The best salad I've ever had. Seriously. Then I tried the Matzo soup, which was something like your grandmother would make you from scratch each Sunday- - EVERY ingredient is cut and seasoned to perfection along with the best Matzo balls ever created. I also had to purchase the bagel chips, which were amazing. I will be a regular here for a long time! Thank you for bringing quality and craftsmanship back to the lunch time! Gordon Ramsey would blush! A+++
We so enjoyed the place and the people who own it and work there: genuinely warm, friendly and caring, such a refreshing experience! The food was amazing! Definitely will recommend the place to all my friends!
I adore their vegan and vegetarian options! &I'm a omnivore. I regularly get the salads as they are ever-changing with the available seasonal produce(locally sourced) and the bagels.... I cannot stop eating them and they have made me never want a store bought bagel again! Also big props to the herbed cream cheese its to die for #BagelReligion #Bernbaums4life
Love everything about this place. The food, the decor and the staff are amazing! I highly recommend.
Amazing food made by some of the nicest folks. I've loved everything I've ever tried (special mention to the chocolate babka, beet hummus, and veg plate). It's my favorite place to eat downtown!
Amazing food made by people that put their heart into every bite. Brett & Andrea have created a culinary menu you must experience!
I never turn down an opportunity to have lunch at Bernbaums. I would go every day if I could. Andrea is a stellar chef and I find her execution is on point. Love the lamb sandwich, bagels with cream cheese and salads. Soooo good!!!
Fresh, delicious food, great coffee, comfortable homie atmosphere. Along with the warm, knowledgeable service this little cafe in the heart of downtown knocks it out of the park.
This is by far the best bagels and coffee around. Highly recommend! <3 Also soups are great to take home and have the next day! :)
We had lunch there on the day of the St. Patrick's Day parade, and it was great - a bagel with beet humus and micro greens. Very delicious! So happy you decided to do this downtown, and the vibe in your shop is fun. Like a neighborhood hot spot.
I had the Lox sandwich and it was on point. Love the character of this place and I can't wait to go back
Very good food, very creative menu, and nice people working! A fun experience that I haven't had at most other places in town!
The food is fantastic, unique and affordable. I love that they are doing something really different from anything else downtown. I used to consistently recommend the Lamb Meatloaf, but I've since branched out and can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that I've tried. My only complaint about BernBaum's is that I basically crave it all day, everyday.
BernBaum's is a classy cafe in historic downtown Fargo, North Dakota. Great selection of high quality tea and good coffee. The quiche was excellent; the blintzes were good. The people of Fargo are what makes this northern tundra a warmer place; servers as well as customers were friendly and conversational.
What a brilliant array of options, meat, lox, vegetarian, vegan, and more. Bagels can come seeded or plain. The pastries and cookies are heavenly. Lots of room for dine-in. Order first, then go hunker down (with a fun place marker) at a table and await the greatness. Beer is available. Great coffee and tea options. Kombucha varieties were also splendid.
The food is amazing, service is excellent, and the prices are fantastic.
The Shakshuka is my absolute must-have brunch, and I am in love with the hummus bagel sandwich.
But seriously, I got breakfast, lunch, a charcuterie box, an extra baguette, two desserts, and coffee for under $50. How can you pass that up?
(Also, the table markers instead of numbers are adorable!! My favorite was the Pug-Bug I got one time. This time around, I had the Holiday Dino.)
Amazingly delicious food! The lox, bagels, and matzo ball soup were ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. Friendly faces and kind servers make it a great meal.
Delicious! Came on a Sunday about 11am and had about a 25 minute wait for food, but it was worth the wait! The lox bagel and the Romanian Sausage and egg my husband got were both fantastic! The coffee was more of a 4/5 but the whole experience made up for it!
I would drive the 3+ hours from the twin cities just to have the breakfast again. We had both the bacon and egg and sausage and egg sandwiches. Loved the pickles so much, we picked up 3 jars. Also the mustard was incredible. You should sell that as well!! The staff was nice enough to sell us some in a cream cheese container.
We got the Israeli hot lamb sandwich, bacon egg and cheese bagel, latkes and lox, and matzo ball soup. I make matzo ball soup regularly at home, and this was so delicious! The sandwich was delicious, but the latke and lox plate was the favorite.
Wonderful
I had the egg salad bagel and it was filled with goodness. served cold and garnished with everything a person would want, a bit messy, but it was great! I also got a generously cut slice of Banana cream pie my only negative was the crust seemed hard to cut(with a plastic fork) but it was flaky and complemented the pie well. I always recommend people go here, but rarely get to eat here myself, so it was a Treat to say the least, I will continue to recommend. 5 stars hands down.
