We enjoyed the midday meal recently. We tried several dishes and they were all very delicious. They Resturant was very busy and we had a short wait to be seated and they service was good along with the very pleasant staff. The view was refreshing as we dined looking out over the inland waters. I recommend and will go back on my next trip to the area.
I planned and hosted a surprise 80th birthday party for my Mom with my brothers traveling from all over the country. From making the reservation to the wait staff, we had a phenomenal experience! Mom was so pleased with her evening and everyone was extremely happy with their meal. From the waterfront views to atmosphere, it was a great evening full of terrific memories.
The food was wonderful, the service was good, the view was amazing it was the perfect evening and the last day of our vacation it was great.we had the shrimp and ceasar salad and key lime pie to die for.can not wait to go back.
The waitress was on point with a smile and offering all the specials. The food was delicious and not a long wait to get it to the table. This restaurant has it all plus, Amazing views from every angle. I would give it a 10 star if I could.
Excellent service and excellent food. Been to Brett’s 3 of the 4
times I’ve been to the island and have never been disappointed.
Great view and great service. I was even able to get something that was no longer on the menu!! Was not disappointed and will be back!! :)
This is a very friendly restaurant with great food and drinks. We enjoyed the margaritas. I had shrimp salad in a croissant with homemade chlps and homemade chunky applesauce. My hubs had the Burbon Street Pasta and is still talking about it. The staff is great too. We will be going there again.

My husband and I had a great meal!!! The food was magnificent!!! Our table by the window was perfect!! The service was fabulous!!! We will be back!!!!
The fried chicken salad is put of this world as is the pimento and cheese. We sat outside and enjoyed the waterfront. Great service, great food, great atmosphere!
Just had great Carolina BBQ shrimp served with collard greens and grits. Delicious chiffon key lime pie for dessert. Service by Josh was very good. Chris, the bartender is the best!
Very scenic location in historic Fernandina Beach, Sliders Seaside Grill serves great food at reasonable cost! For a lunch treat, I had the catch of the day's blackened red fish. It was perfectly prepared and served on jasmine rice and sausage. Not often found in most typical restaurant, the crawfish coleslaw was an interesting and tasty side. My dinning companion enjoyed the shrimp and grits, pronouncing the grits as some of the best on the First Coast. Great informal ambiance and definitely worth the price!
Went with a large group. Great service. Better than average food. Really good shrimp dishes. The group also liked the fresh fish specials. Very good desserts.
Enjoyed dinner and a beautiful NE Florida sunset this evening while on vacation with my wife. I had read some mediocre reviews on this establishment so was hesitant to dine here, but decided to because of the location and the need for a nice sunset view dinner. My server suggested the nightly special which was Seared grouper 'Oscar' with grilled asparagus and Yukon gold roasted potatoes. The meal was excellent, perfectly pan seared, freshly caught a few hours prior flaky grouper filet! Maybe I was lucky, but they nailed it, best piece of fish I have had all summer and I've dined all over the state lately. My wife's crab cakes were tasty as well. The only drawback to this place, which seems to be a common thread is that it is 'touristy', lots of people wandering along the boardwalk and marina adjacent, but hey, you see that going in and they are not hiding that. Overall Brett's surpassed my expectations after reading the reviews.
We all had a great time. The food was fabulous and the staff were friendly and helpful
Nice view. Pretty pricey. Shrimp scampi was soooooo good though. I literally ate every last bite.
Amelia's jewel. Good food, great staff, phenomenal dessert, and probably the best view in Fernandina! After a hot and exhausting day of sightseeing and shopping on a girl’s day out, we popped in to this classy restaurant expecting to be chased out with pitchforks for being vagrants. But the staff was very welcoming and did not mind that we only came in to get dessert and cool off awhile. The desserts were picture perfect and the tastes lived up to their visual beauty. The bread pudding was the best I have E-V-E-R had! I enjoyed them so much, I went back later with my husband and daughter to try the dinner menu and watch the sunset.....and the magic continued!
Good food, good service, and decently priced. Not a huge option list on lunch menu but good enough

Great Restaurant. My husband & I ate at Brett's today & thought the food was AWESOME!!! I had
sea bass & he had fried shrimp. The service was great and the scenery was
perfect. We will definitely be back.
Outstanding!!!. Did not make a reservation, but we had a great time watching the sun set from the rockers right on the porch (best place to wait for your table). The Low Country Boil was outstanding and seriously huge! Biscuits were delicious. Would return in a heartbeat if we lived in the area.
My wife & I shared an intimate wedding dinner with family here ten years ago and I was delighted that it's as inviting today as it was then. The view of the marina is the best place to dine on the island. The seafood enchiladas were outstanding as well the crab dip gratin. Generous portions and wonderful service tops it off. A must when visiting Fernandina.
My husband and I ate there for our anniversary and enjoyed our food very much. The service was great as was the view. We would recommend although the it was a little pricey!

Pricy but worth the money!! My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and was very pleased with our food. The atmosphere is beautiful with a full view of the ocean and marina! Highly recommend the fried calamari! They were amazing!!!!
Very pricy for what you get... But the cheese grits were outstanding! A great place to have a drink and relax with an appetizer.
Delicious. Best meal eaten on the island. Even better than the ritz. Good service and great food.
Start Here. Ok, as said by others you are paying a portion of the price of your meal for the location. That is why you go here. If you are just visiting our fair town for a short while you should go here. If I have friends or family come in I always take them here. I actually think the food is pretty good, I have never had a bad meal, it is not super complex and it is about 30% above what it should cost but look out the window. My big gripe is actually the drink prices. They have a nice bar , but quite frankly my wife and I do not go to it simply because of the price. A martini is $12. I like just vodka on ice I think those were $6-$7 not totally unheard of but get this....the bar tenders actually take out a shot glass measure the vodka into it and then dump it in the glass....really? Is that how the management wants it? First of all it looks so amateurish secondly as a customer you just feel like wow these people are really cheap. I am getting screwed. Who ever is running that bar should immediately do away with that practice. If you want to chintz the drinks at least teach your bartender how to pour it freehand you won't come off looking so bad. Wine is also expensive. Moral of the story if you drink at Bretts stick with a bottle of domestic beer and enjoy the view.
Wonderful food, great service. Food is hot and fresh!
Excellent view, tasteful food. I went to Bretts for a Sunday lunch with my family in a sunny day. The view of the river, the peaceful you get in that terrace was super. The service was good, the food was of good quality. I would go again when visiting Fernandina Beach.
Great atmosphere, terrific service. Okay, we admit it...we're picky and can be hard to please. The service left nothing to be desired...nothing. We were really surprised by how well we were treated. Quite professional and warm and friendly. We arrived at sunset and at outside on the veranda. Incredible location, right on the Amelia River. Our fried green tomato appetizer was great, my husband declared it the best he'd ever eaten. I had never thought of Bearnaise and goat cheese as a tomato topper but this was delicious. We each had large salads, his with chicken and brie and mine was a large house salad. Not much in the way of vegetarian offerings. I had hoped the chef would put together a veggie plate for me, and he was willing (mashed potatoes and asparagus) but it would have cost $24, a price I found ridiculous; the salad would have been an extra $7. I declined and had salad only. I would say that was the only downside. The salad was quite good, as were the complimentary biscuits. When we were there, it began to rain and we had a lovely lightning show. Thanks, Brett's!
Cool place, great view. Just came here for drinks at the bar but wished we had come here for dinner rather than the Italian place we chose and were disappointed in.
An excellent restaurant that unfortunately is a bit over priced, but makes up in location and fresh seafood choices. The extensive wine collection is also a plus, but is also a bit expensive.
Great view, high priced, high quality foodd. Went with a large party...food was very high quality, fresh, well-prepared....the only possible complaint could be the bill, but the view, the service, and the food were exceptional....
Bretts is a good choice. In response to Jumbo complaining about the 'limited menu'. There are signs posted outside about Brett's diningroom closing at 2:30. Seems to me if you can't read then that is your problem. If you were given something to eat then you were not denied. As for the 2 empolyees eating off the regular menu, did it occur to you that maybe they put in the order before 2:30 and sat down to eat their lunch once the shift was over? The reason for the early close is to switch over to dinner. Not for the employees to take a nap.
I love Bretts. The servers are always wonderful. The food is wonderful. The location is super.
LOVES IT. Wonderful food. wonderful service. super location.
Memorable Lunch. My wife and I returned for lunch after eating here last year while on vacation. We ate outside overlooking the marina. Great atmosphere. I had the shrimp and grits, and my wife had the shrimp salad sandwich. Both of us enjoyed our meals. We watched boats leaving the marina and the rain come in. The service was great, and we especially liked their no smoking policy. We could eat outside and not worry about smelling someone else's smoke.
Great food and service. I can't find a negative thing to say. Food was amazing, service was great and the view at sunset was amazing.
Overall, our experience was fantastic & I can’t say enough good things about it.
This eatery might seem a bit out of place in the small town of Fernandina but it's quite good and should not be missed.
Brett's Waterway Cafe sets at the end of Front Street by the marina. There is ample parking in the public lot by the restaurant. There are several handicap spaces also. The restaurant has curb appeal setting next to the water. Inside was well lit and clean. It’s busy around lunch time. It’s best to get there early. We were seated in about 5 minutes. The view from the restaurant is relaxing and beautiful. The seating staff were friendly and welcoming. Our server arrived quickly and was friendly and pleasant. She checked back often to ensure we had everything we needed. My order arrived in a reasonable amount of time. It was visually appealing and a good quantity of food. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich comes with coleslaw, BBQ sauce, onion straws, and a dill pickles on a bun. The pork was tender and mostly juicy and had a good flavor. There were a couple of dry hard pieces. The BBQ sauce moistened the pork. It had a good taste and slight tangy. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. It was a very pleasant lunch.
Food was great. The service was even better. Wish we had the servers name but she was awesome and attentive. The food was filling. We had the 1/2 hamburger and meatball sub. Wouldn't hesitate to come back and eat there again.
If you’re relaxing for a relaxing waterfront restaurant with good food, then look no further and come on in.
Food: We had the crab dip (great choice), the bbq sandwich (tasty) with fries, and the French dip sandwich (what a huge portion). We all enjoyed our meals!
Atmosphere: Relaxing waterfront views with good sunsets. There was bar seating, indoor seating, and outdoor seating. Our waiter was personable and attentive! He definitely gets 5 stars for his service and personality.
Price: $$ - Everything was fairly priced for what we ordered.
Parking: There’s street parking available and I think they also had parking lot availability near the restaurant.
My family of 5 just dined here last night, and it was fabulous. We were seated directly outside on the patio and were able to watch the sunset. Our server was prompt and excellent. The food was truly amazing! The atmosphere was kid friendly, and even the kid meals were excellent. We will definitely be back! This restaurant is a true gem!
Right on the water. Eclectic menu. Highly recommend the crab dip au gratin. The blackened swordfish topped with crab meat also very good. The fried seafood was breaded and fried to perfection. Service was friendly and fast even though the whole boardwalk outside was packed. We were seated almost immediately.
Some of the best food, service, views and atmosphere you’ll find in Fernandina Beach. Alex could quite possibly be the best server we’ve ever had Anywhere and the peach bread pudding was Definitely the best dessert we’ve ever had! Stop in and eat if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it.
The water front view is spectacular and seeing all the boats 🛥️ and birds are relaxing. The food is amazing and very delicious. Started with the clam dip and toast. Super and fun with the bread crumbs on top. The little birds enjoy the crumbs. Followed by the Pimento cheese sandwich. Really yummy. Taken with a corona and lime. The server was very helpful but a tad bit distracted. Not his fault. Still a 5 star venue. The bar inside is gorgeous with lots of stained wood and glass windows. I hope I can return very soon to try the sea food. Enjoy. 😃😎
First time here, as well as Fernandina Beach. We knew the location on the water was great with the view and all, but we weren’t expecting such quality meals. We were thrilled with all aspects of this restaurant. I had the Catch of the day Mahi over rice and it was about the best I’ve ever had. The flavor of the sauce and fish cooked perfect. The side salad for extra $3 was well worth it. My wife had the Quiche, salad and fresh fruit, with the same quality, presentation and perfect taste. Our server, Max, was well versed on the menu as well as the town, very friendly, attentive and professional. Given how crowded it was, our meals arrived in a reasonable time and temperature perfect. Prices reasonable, atmosphere interesting and clean. Thank you!
Very good food and impeccable and fast service. My husband's burger was really grilled with a delicious aroma of wood. My fish and chips in a thin batter, not too crispy, just right and very juicy. No excess fat, neither in the potatoes nor in the fish. It's on the Marina, so the views are beautiful. The terrace is very comfortable, the breeze runs and it is very pleasant. We have come on Saturday and it fills up fast, it is possible that depending on what time, there may be a waiting list. 100% recommended.
Went to the beach for the morning and wanted lunch with drinks. Loved the outdoor seating, plenty of tables inside and out great view. The menu offers lots of options, both food and drinks. Food was delicious. Service was outstanding. Prices are little higher, but worth it.
