Very cool spot in the basement of a Hindu temple. The menu is hard to understand with no descriptions or pictures except the flashing menu items on the TVs which only stay for 5 seconds before switching to another item. Not enough time to analyze and decide. Thankfully a very nice patron advised us
Great cafeteria in temple premises. Please look for a cafeteria sign and you should be able to find the stairs/elevator to go downstairs. Temple cafeteria have varieties of South Indian food and appetizers. Also you can get some packaged snacks too. Because of street parking finding a parking is lit
Saw the food in a video online and immediately ran out to get some.. so amazing! Everything was very flavorful, variety of delicious spices.. so many options too. Arrived too late to try some of the weekend specials, go by early in the afternoon for that. Clean well kept tables, huge seating area. T
I stopped by to try the dosas and vadas; I’ve never had such a balanced dosa, the sauces are pure perfection with enough heat to satisfy someone who thinks nothing is spicy lol. I would recommend the pondicherry dosa if you’re vegan specifically, they said just make sure you ask for no ghee on items
This is easily one of the best dosas I’ve ever had, and it is part of a temple! Especially for very reasonable prices, these are so crispy and flavorful, and the little side dishes you get with them are so good. I highly recommend getting some coffee or tea here as well.
They also sell a variety of
Located at a basement of the Temple, efficient service and was not crowded for a weekday and working hour I assume. But hands down the best Uthappam I’ve had since India. Will be back to try the Dosa.
Great, delicious South Indian food at low prices! Service was good. Atmosphere could have been a little better with more fans and/or lower volume over speakers.
Hidden gem! Lovely and friendly service. Run by a few south Indian folks from Kerala. Truly was a pleasure waiting for my food and chatting with the aunty at the register. Quality food and delicious. The menu can be overwhelming at first but at theses prices you can try several different items over
Took my parents to this temple and as people who grew up in India they were thrilled to find such authentic and affordable food. The paper dosa was fantastic and vada was perfectly light and crispy. Coconut chutney was also standout. Definitely deserving of all the hype and such a great vegan option
For a simple Hindu temple cafe that’s constantly rated high and even getting featured among the best restaurants in the NY state, this place needs no intro.
This cafe is attached to the famous Ganesha temple (first Hindu temple to be built in the US and 50 yrs old) and predominantly serves traditio
This restaurant in NYC serves some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The flavors are incredible. However, be prepared for less-than-friendly service from the cashier. Also, keep in mind that it gets extremely busy on weekends, so plan accordingly for potential wait times.
Excellent food, especially Indian flavour. Don’t miss the food when you visit temple. Even you can plan the lunch or dinner when you want to have good food. Great idea of canteen providing the quality food in Temples.
amazing vibe. walk through the main entrance, along the skylit walkway lined with little ganeshas, down into the basement and suddenly.. delightful chaos!!! bring your walking shoes. uttappam is a MUST, also vada and of course dosa! we had poori chole, a sunday special- divine. finish with masala te
Hidden away underneath a great Hindu temple is my favorite frequent visit for a quick and delicious South Indian meal. Listen for your number though! They want to keep you moving when it's especially busy!
