Tofu Brain - Savory and salty broth covering wood ear mushrooms and silky smooth tofu. Slight hint of fermentedness like stinky tofu and broth itself is quite salty, but the tofu just goes down super smoothly into your mouth.
Red Bean Mochi Roll - chewy and sticky mochi dough rolled with thick red bean paste that isn't too sweet but still fragrant with red bean aromas.

Came here based on a recommendation. Food was very unique as it’s not the type of dishes you can easily find elsewhere. The tofu soup was really good. Tasted hot and fresh and surprisingly spicy. The pancake alone lacked some sauce as it tasted dry with the dough stick, but heavenly when paired with and dipped in the tofu soup. One of the downsides was the staff’s inability to communicate in English or Cantonese, only in Mandarin. The menus were all written in Chinese and the employees behind the counter were a tad rude. We ordered by pointing at what other patrons were eating.
My favorite Tianjin breakfast place. Even as ghetto as you can get, it carries the best tofu soup, egg crepe, Guo Ba Cai, etc. super authentic! And quite cheap.
Great northern Chinese breakfast spot. The soft tofu was excellent. Especially topped w their homemade Smokey chilli oil.
This old Northern Chinese food court looks like a literal hole in the wall, nothing fancy, cheaper than dirt, faster than fast food, but a daily staple for locals. Not a good place for social outing, but rather a place for one to eat by their lonesome when they don't want anything fancy, just sustenance and some taste.
There are 2 major stores in here, 1) is the fish ball and noodle place, 2) the other is a breakfast place.
Fish ball place and noodle served on disposable trays, fast (5 minutes), cheap (<$10), savory, with all kinds of fish ball and meat. The quality here is a little lower than food court food under jmart.
Breakfast place offers a number of plus sized pastries on the top shelf windows, pre-heated buns in trays underneath, popular breakfast drinks like tofu flower in the back, and whatever it is featuring at the moment right next to cashier. They sell buns with no filling that are the size of your face for a few quarters, too.
An all time popular breakfast item is the tofu flower (northern name is 豆腐脑 dou fu nao), it's soupy, savory ,and warm comfort food. Cashier will ask if you want hot sauce with that, take your pick. A few others are also good, so try them out.
It's best that you can read Chinese and order from the menu on the wall. Otherwise, cashier might lose patience because she usually serves super fast.
NOT ALL FOOD here is good. If other customers aren't getting it, you should not either. If you did order something others wouldn't order out of curiosity, you won't get sick, but you probably won't like what you eat (that moon cake is shockingly weird). These are usually the dry cold pastries in the acrylic glass display window; some of these might taste better if you take it home and steam it up.
Their fish products are very fresh and unique. We always buy the fish balls including pork staffed and non staffed. These are delicious for soups. Will try other varieties.
4 star is a good score here. What doesn't do this place justice is the lack of a picture of the Tianjin wontons on google reviews. I can't post a picture of it because it was only $2.50 and my wife and I finished the whole bowl of wontons within seconds. Steamily yummy authentic Tianjin food here.
Best Tianjin breakfast in NYC. come get the douhua and try the Tianjin-style jianbing. you'll love it.
