My first time at this restaurant, I have to say the portion of the food is tiny for someone who's on a diet 😂 Usually Spanish (Latin) restaurants serve good sizes portions . So my recommendation is, if you like big portion sizes of food ,this place is not for you. Also is very expensive.

We went here for the very first time on a Saturday afternoon. There was a live performance and a really chill atmosphere. The food was phenomenal, and the drinks were too!

First of all, if you want Authentic, Fresh and mouth watering latin cuisine, look no further. Matiz is the place to go. I have been here several times during lunch and dinner and the food, ambiance and staff continue to impress me and every single person who I've come with. I've been to a TON of latin cusine restaurants and this one surpasses even the most expensive ones in Manhattan and beyond. The staff (especially Pablo and Paula, who never stop moving and are always smiling) and the amazing owner take their jobs VERY seriously and go over and beyond to keep this establishment as perfect as it is. Now on to the delicious food! Absolutely the BEST shrimp quesidilla I ever had, this is NOT a normal quesidilla! It comes with delicious guac, pico de gallo and a special sauce on the side, and its huge with fresh Large seasoned shrimp on the inside and a perfectly crispy tortilla shell! The steak fajitas were made perfectly, so juicy and the veggies were insanely fresh and perfectly seasoned. You MUST try the Cameron Mayas, its a shrimp dish in a light Chipotle sauce with green rice, its absolutely refreshing and leaves you feeling like you just lived life! The Portobello entree was also excellent, perfect for vegetarians, it was three HUGE portobello mushrooms, seasoned like I've never tasted before and tasted like a beautiful explosion of herbs and LIFE, also presented beautifully. We were so pleased. On other occasions I've had the Pollo Matiz, comes with a melted manchego (1st time I've tasted melted manchego) and it was heavenly. We also had the Fish tacos and guacamole, both also EXTREMELY fresh and light and completely different than the standard latin cuisine I've had in the past. This place goes over and beyond to be different, fresher, cleaner and unique in every single dish. Mark my words. The drinks and the bartenders are simply wonderful. Try their sangria, it's above the rest put there, its fresh and so is the fruit. Their margaritas are also light but give you a BIG PUNCH. We also asked for special drinks and they once again went over and beyond to impress and delight our palates in every way. The desserts are out of this world ! I never had tres leches like that, I had to get more because its soo light, comes with a PASSION FRUIT dollop that's caramel like on top and is presented like a piece of art. When we tasted the flan, we also couldn't believe how DIFFERENT and delectable it was! I'm a huge flan fan, but this is by far my favorite. Get these 2 desserts..PLEASE, and add their delicious coffee with it. You will be so satisfied and so astonished and how this restaurant is so different from all the others. Lastly, you will love the scenery inside, truly welcoming and pretty with beautiful art and an amazing staff. This is me and my friends new favorite restaurant by far!!

One of the best restaurants i have ever been at. I arrived on a Thursday without a reservation, and even though place was completely full, General Manager Julio, managed to find a table for us. They had flamenco night, music was phenomenal. The drinks were extremely good and the food delicious. They even had a special treat for the ladies. They give a flower so each woman, can wear it as a hair piece. It’s definitely a cozy little thoughtful environment. I would definitely go back. Thank you to the entire staff for this level of customer service. I was impressed!

I have been here twice. The food is delicious, tastes like your Latina grandmother made it. The carimañolas were mouth watering, we could eat those all day, especially with the dipping sauce provided. Not sure what sauce they use in the fish tacos, but it’s addictive. El pescado Veracruzano was full of flavor and fish fillet was perfectly cooked. They have various vegetarian options. The cocktails are incredible, I suggest La Jungla Prohibida, the Bramble and just about any of their cocktails on their menu. Can we just say the Latin music that plays while you’re eating or drinking makes you want to get up and dance. Wonderful place to get great Latin food and delicious cocktails, will try to come here OFTEN!

Love this restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and lends to a perfect girls night out. Great music, the service is prompt and friendly. Diana, our server was amazing and so sweet. She was fun about recommending new drinks for us. I wish I had made note of the specific names. There was a mango one with chipotle, then one with blackberry, I believe, and then the other we tried I think was a flavored mojito. Literally, each drink was perfect. They were all on point. We had the surf n turf dinner, the vegetarian paella, yucca croquettes filled with cheese, spinach cheese and beef empanadas and guacamole. Delicious. My second time here and coming back for more.

I've only tried the paella which is really good and reminds me of my trip to Spain. It's pricy at 30+ but it does feed two people so not a terrible price. The amount of seafood is pretty generous so I'd recommend that dish even for that price

I didn't know what to expect. Latin influenced cuisine from all over the world. Authentic dishes, so delicious and so fresh! The staff was extremely accommodated to us. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area

I rarely write a review...but I feel I must after all these years. I am probably the very 1st few customers who started going to this place. Just want to say that this place is beyond expectations and probably the best places to eat...hangout...or date... Excellent Tacos...Arepitas... Tamalito are to die for...and my favorite is the Salmon El Tropical (Heart and gut health) Everything is from scratch...and the staff is very friendly...you can tell when you see the same staff over the years...they are happy and take good care of everyone. GO FOR IT!!!

Very good food. But I feel like the appetizers were pretty small for the amount you pay for them. The drinks were great and waiters are friendly too.
