I trust Yelp this time and surely this place live up to their reputation on Yelp.
Don't get the name fools you. I was craving for Stone Crabs, and I know it's in season as if April 2018, I got lucky.
I didn't want a fancy place where I pay $40 for a jumbo claw. I realized this place is out of the way for us from Fort Lauderdale Beach but after viewing the photos and menu. I knew I must come here.
I called in first to see if I can get a reservation. The gentleman on the phone was kind and professional to take my babe down. He said it would save me Table by the time I get there. It was Mr. Dewey I later found out.
It was a Tuesday night. The place was still packed when we arrived at 8pm. Look like a diner in a movie on Route 66, guests seem happy, and everyone was laughing.
The hostess was quickly seated us. Our server Josey (Josie) was wonderful. She knew we were first timers.
$19 for a Jumbo claw stone crab only - as big as my hand
$74 for 8 large claw stone crab - 2 lbs
$35 for 4 clusters snow crab - 2 lbs
$21 for 7 oz lobster tail
Each entrรฉe comes with 2 sides, we got Mac & Cheese, grit, green collard, corn, 2 coleslaw, and Free hush puppies too.
A bottle of St Francis Sonoma Coast Chardonnay for $26, we were full and happy.
We came for stone crab and mission accomplished!
We also met Mr. Dewey, he was humbled and so kind to have a photo with me.
If you want straight up stone crab, snow crab, lobster and Southern foods, come here, as fresh as you can get for as little as compare to a fancy restaurants in Miami.

We've been looking for a place like this since we arrived in Delray Beach on vacation.
This is excellent seafood.

The food was great and service as well. We had a party of 5 and no one was disappointed. The catfish is great and fresh. My sister had shrimp and grits and those grits were heaven. Will definitely be back when I visit again.
The all you can eat crab legs were sensational! So tender and came right out of the shell. Big, meaty pieces of crab leg. The fried catfish is excellent. Immediately when we sat down we were served cole slaw and hush puppies. Our waitress, Diane, was great! We were stuffed when we left, but in a good way. ๐ I would go there in a heartbeat again but weโre leaving town tomorrow. Truly delicious food in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Food was awesome! Drinks were on point and our waitress was marvelous. Definitely will be going back the next time we go to Florida!
They never disappoint us or anyone we send there...we were Old Florida Seafood House patrons for years...this is now our go to place when we are in town!

Best Mahi in Fort Lauderdale. The only problem I have with Catfish Dewey's is choosing my meal as i eat 90% of the items on the menu.

Came with a big group and they were able to accommodate everyone in a timely manner !! Waitress did a great job at ensuring everything came out fresh and with whatever condiments that were needed. She also suggested favorites and most popular dishes without being prompted.
They have great specials that you should definitely take advantage of.
The catfish, shrimp and scallops were cooked really well.
From the outside looking in it does not seem to hold a big crowd but it is possible.
Everyone was friendly and welcoming. There is also a bar area if you do not want to sit at a table.
The restrooms were clean and fully stocked.
Would visit again.
1st timers on vacation and did not disappoint! Server was attentive and very informative. Hush puppies and cole slaw for everyone was so good. All you can eat catfish was on point with greens, my girls loves the crab legs and huge side salad and i thoroughly enjoyed my fried shrimp and grits.
I canโt say enough good things about this place. The food was amazing. Hush puppies are great. The shrimp are out of this world! Paid about $150 for 3 people including alcohol, really not bad for the area. We walked right in and felt so at home, the staff was so nice. Definitely will be back! Thank yโall!
The Mrs found this place & Wow what an awesome spot. I had the tuesday shrimp special-all you can eat-with the catfish, the Mrs had the stone crab. The stone crab is seasonal, so be sure to check before you go!! If you get any of the specials make sure you get the grits, they are the best I have ever had, anywhere, hands down. Parking is limited but they have an attendant to help you find a spot, if needed. Put this on your list folks, you won't regret it.

The service received from Marta was remarkable. She was attentive and professional. She anticipated our familyโs dining needs and questions. It was a truly fantastic experience due to her passion for service.
The food was also delicious! The crab legs were a hit and endless on Thursday. Others ordered chicken tenders that were crispy and delicious. The homemade sides were so good. Greens, Mac and cheese, and fries - all tasted just like home. We will definitely be back!
Catfish, Frog Legs, Hushpuppies, Collard Greens, and Slaw, whew doggies! Thas some good eats!! Everything was great - nice find....
I really enjoyed my dining experience at Catfish Dewey's restaurant last night. The food was delicious & my server (Joy) was awesome! Only issues I had that parking was very congested & also management should acknowledge military veterans just like active service members with meal discounts too.
Great dinner tonight at Catfish Dewey's in Fort Lauderdale. It's the end of Stone Crab season, so we went there to enjoy that, and also Snow Crab Legs.
Jessica was our server. She was very busy, yet super organized and efficient. As soon as we sat down, she brought us our drinks, along with complimentary hush puppies and coleslaw. All dinners come with a side, so we had french fries and macaroni and cheese.
Got to meet the owner, Dewey, and told him how much we enjoyed the food and the place. We are looking forward to going back again soon.

The food is excellent at Cat Fish Dewey's. Everyone there is mostly locals.
Every night, there is an option for all you can eat, snow-crab, ribs, etc. You can not beat the prices for the amount of food some people can eat!
The staff are always pleasant and attentive.
The atmosphere is "old school", which is fine. We don't mind at all. It reminds me of Best Western meets Howard Johnsons. (Paneling on walls, indoor/outdoor carpeting on the floor, and a big wagon wheel/seahorse lighting in the middle of the room. But honestly, it really doesn't matter because the food is delicious and who needs modern flare to enjoy a good meal. We come for the food.
The catfish is REAL southern catfish! If you ever had it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You will not be disappointed!
First time here. The hype is real. BEST cole slaw I've ever had! Catfish buttety soft and seasoned to perfection. Warm and friendly ambiance. A trip back to the 80s with the decor that hasn't changed, but still feels cozy. Can't recommend this place enough! 5 stars all around!

Service was excellent. Had the all you can eat snow crabs. Very good and I didn't have to keep asking for more. Waitress was spot on. Crabs were hot and delicious. But they are expensive.
Made another visit here last night and had the catfish and scrimp combination platter. It was very good and plentiful.

This is the place for excellent family and special occasion dining for seafood lovers and not to leave out steak and chicken tenders lovers. The food arrives at your table hot and fresh. I loved the all you can eat catfish, others the crab legs and another had a steak cooked to perfection. I wanted to take the grandma in the kitchen home to be my personal chef! The atmosphere is very lively and relaxed. All staff members ensure you and your guests leave with a smile on your face and a memorable time at Catfish Deweyโs!
This restaurant is a national treasure. From the hostesses to the service, Ms. Carrie was wonderful and the food was absolutely wonderful. When we come back, we will stop by!! I appreciate this place being here for me and my brother in our home of mourning, we honored our mother with her favorite dish, all we could eat crab legs!!
Waited too long to go to Catfish Deweys. Excellent crab all you can eat on Sunday. $50, but we ate our money's worth. The place is a bit old but it's been there a long time. Service was really good, the waitress kept the crab coming! Hushpuppies are great. Recommend!
Loved it! They brought out coleslaw and hush puppies before we even ordered! Catfish was amazing! Can't wait to bring my dad here, he will love it. Parking is a bit hectic. A few spots in front and on the side but it looked like people were parking in the gas station next to it too. It smelled a little fishy in there (if it wasn't obvious) I know my mom isn't a fan of fish but that catfish was amazing. I'd like to come back and try other things. I took pics of everyone's food at our table
The food here was delicious and the service was excellent!! A friend of mine recommended and we both truly enjoyed ourselves. The shrimp, fish, everything we ate was mouth watering. They even had sweet tea. ๐

The conch fritters were outstanding, very meaty and perfectly seasoned. The key lime pie was exceptional. I was expecting the food to be good but it was phenomenal. Our waitress was WONDERFUL and so attentive to our needs. She was one step ahead of everything and extra considerate. Our cups were never below half full. This was a great dining experience.
