đź Great experience at La Playa Maya on Sunset Drive in Fort Worth - enjoyed a wide selection of Mexican food from traditional dishes to more contemporary options in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere!
Food:
As soon as we were seated, we were given chips and salsa. My sister ordered their queso concoction (I wish I had a better term for it) and it was alright. The dishes were where the flavors shined. I ordered their fish tacos - crispy breading and delicious sauce, but a little too much red cabbage. My sister ordered their fajitas - the fajita meat was tender and flavorful. My wife ordered the cowboy enchiladas - definitely a lot of queso, but whoâs complaining. And our boys split a chicken quesadilla. To top it off, we ordered their flan for desert. Overall, great food!
Service:
Our server was kind and checked on us frequently. She gave the suggestion for the fish tacos over the carne asada that I was debating over, and Iâm glad she made the suggestion. Every one was friendly and made the experience that much better!
My girlfriend has been coming here for years with her family, so she took me for lunch.
First off, this place is clean. Even the HVAC registers don't have dust on them. Tables were spotless and so were the floors. So that's a great sign of good things to come.
Our waitress was very friendly and prompt.
I started off with a margarita on the rocks. It was on point. There was actually tequila in it.
Chips and salsa were plentiful and good.
The food came and it was very good. Pretty large portions. I'll be coming back to try something different on the menu.

This was my first here because a friend referred me and told me I should not have to wait too long for a table. So, I discovered that he was totally right.  My crew and I showed up very hungry right after church on Sunday, we walked in and got a seat right away. I was also pleasantly surprised how the wait for the food was not long at all. The decor was festive, very clean, and the food was great.
Our waitress was great, tending to the pack of us while we enjoyed each other. I loved the giant windows close to our table, and also the outside patio eating area looked like a pleasant place for a date in the future. La Playa Maya is just walking distance from Ridglea Theater which is a Live music venue in a restored 1947 cinema with terrazzo floors & balcony stadium seating. Also next door to Sprouts Farmers Market and nearby Tom Thumb, Starbucks Coffee, and Champions School of Real Estate. I would recommend WITHOUT hesitation.
My family & I have been coming here for years! The staff is always awesome! Music is Latin đ Their agua de horchata is one of my favorites!
We travel around the country, and it is always a challenge to find actually good Mexican food. While this place isn't one of the best that we've been to, it is far from the worst. The food was tasty, not overly spicy, and overall pretty good. It is definitely one of the better ones that we have found in this area.
La Playa is a Fort Worth Staple! Excellent service and food is always great quality. Great price for seafood and great lunches to choose from.
Great Service, Atmosphere and food was very good. Would recommend to any one and will go back. Cinammon ice cream, was the best!
One of our favorite places, good food, many menu items, always great service.
We enjoy the Camp Bowie location, less than 30 minute or less wait on a busy Friday night.
Top notch Mexican fare. I had beef enchiladas as I do at every new mex restaurant I go to. Nice soft enchiladas rich with flavor. Rice was perfect, beans were on point. I can't wait to go back.
Popped in for a little something after a shopping and errands day. Staff was okay. Setting okay. Food okay. Salsa very good. Guac decent and not brown - yay!
However, the staff was not attentive. They seemed dreamy and lost. Multiple guests had to remind them of their requests, including us. The place needs a good cleaning also, mainly the floors. I know those kinds of tiles don't come clean with a mop so it's tough, but somewhere there's a steam cleaner that can help.
Otherwise this is a good, quiet place tucked away off the main road, with plenty of parking out front. The food is pretty good, they have some fun drinks (including one with fire!), and they even make a decent shrimp cocktail. Would I return? Actually I would. Next time I will try a busier night when the energy is hopping. I bet it will not be just okay: it will be Great!
Today was the first time in a long time that we visited the restaurant, itâs been overdue. The food was delicious đ the chicken chimichangas are delicious and so was the carne asada. The piña colada with rum đč were amazing đ€© our server was great đđ»
Not a 5 star but a solid 4 star TexMex restaurant. Tasty salsa. Wish they'd drained a little more grease off the ground beef on the nachos, though.
The food comes out fast and is priced pretty good I enjoyed the food very much
The food is always delicious! The service and staff are wonderful and the ceviche is absolutely delicious!
Update after many years of dining here:
This is one of the best hidden gems in town. Ceviche is top notch. Soups are great. Cocktails are handmade. Friendly service every single time. Thank you to all who make this restaurant an amazing place!
