Amazing Service. Generous portions. Clean. Friendly Staff! Seating Area with TV.
First time here, ordered take out. Ordered the Mahi Fish Tacos and the Whiting Dinner with Fries. Food was fresh, hot and shown to me before it was bagged. The two staff members I spoke with were very pleasant. Will be back.
Great service, good vibes, solid serving sizes for the price definitely a hidden gem. The ice tea was everything good about the south in a cup.
When I went to the place on a Friday they said it will be a 30min wait. I took the wait to see how how good the place was. At first I thought it was just another spot that just black people like to go to. I was mistaken, there were black, and white at this place. At that point I knew it was a good spot to eat. Then more people came through the door (10 or more) they was told that it will be a 30min wait they didn't hesitate to say that's fine and they continued to order. At that point I knew I was at a great spot to eat. When I got my food they guy said, "We don't do refunds" . I was confused until I looked at the sign by the soda machine lol. I got my food it was fresh. The collard greens filled me up with pure joy, it was so good I drank the juice. I had the fried okra bites it was surprisingly awesome because of okra slimy nature. The mac n cheese made me want to marry it. That was until I got to skrimp it was the most freshest fried food I had in a while, it was like heaven on earth. IF YOU WANT GREAT FRESH FRIED FOOD THAT MAKE YOU MELT, GO DOWN TO SKRIMP SHACK. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!! Also!!!! The Customer service they have was very comfortable they had this at home Bobby environment. THEY'RE A EXAMPLE OF HOW YOU SHOULD TREAT PEOPLE. R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Tremendous value (Hugh portions - 7 pieces of whiting on a bun), great taste (old timey cornmeal coated goodnedd) all for $7. Can't wait to try the other types of fish. Exquisite!
I've dying to try this place out since I moved here in VA. I gotta say, I am not super amazed by it, for what I've paid for.
I had the Skrimp basket, which included the shrimp , and the hush puppies . The hush puppies were dry. I was excited about it too. I love hush puppies. That's the first thing I eat , when I go to Alabama. It was such a disappointment. The shrimp tho , was good. It wasn't over cooked and it was seasoned nicely. The other thing I ordered was a crab cake. The good thing about it is, it has real crab in it. Flavor was very umami. But for the price of $10+ , I think I would have deserved a slightly bigger patty. The patty wasn't appetizing to look at too. Their po boy sauce was very good. I threw the marinara sauce ( not a fan ), and just used that bad boy for everything. Including the fried okra. I wished I have ordered the okra as my sides for the shrimp. But oh well, lesson learned.
I paid $42+. Was it worth it? I don't think so. The lesson for this order was, do not order the crab cake ( unless you are really craving for it ), and the hush puppies.
Update: owner messaged me and was very nice to explain things to me. I love great customer service . One of the reasons I go back to a restaurant is because of that.
Let me start by saying! My My My! I come from a place where all we know is seafood! This place is the true definition of seafood, spices, and a um um good expression! I give credit when it's due and this definitely deserves every bit of 5 stars! If I could give more I would. The staff is very helpful and corrects any issue. Thank you so much and I will be spreading the word about this place!
