Came yesterday to have Brunch. The service and the food was great! I absolutely love that the server offered the homemade ketchup with my eggs . Will definitely come back again!
So I have since come back from my first brunch at 2 Dog to have had brunch 4 other times! Each time has been a wonderful experience! The food is always fabulous! I’ve recently been getting the Rosa as its to die for! Please come check them out for lunch, dinner, or brunch! You will not be disappointed!
My husband and I were camping and had to run into town for supplies. We were starving, but we had our dog, Izzy, with us. I saw the sign, and I thought surely they would let us bring Izzy and eat outside. Not only did they allow Izzy, they gave her a giant bowl filled with ice water! The food and service were amazing! I can’t wait to go back to this charming place.
A unique and quaint design inside and out. I love the fact that they buy fresh fruits and vegetables from a local farm- they also make everything homemade (except the mayonnaise) . The staff was friendly and helpful with any questions or recommendations. The food was amazing! I will be going back again! Also a great plus— anyone that has a dog 🐶 they are pet friendly and you are welcome to bring your dog 🐕 on the outside patio !!
2 Dog in Gainesville is a must try! Awesome atmosphere, great food, fresh veggies and fruits delivered daily, everything is homemade at the restaurant (except the mayo), and they allow dogs on their patio!
Our brunch on Sunday was excellent. The staff was attentive and courteous. Any time we are in town for a visit we will return. Loved the vibe and the decor. Thanks!
Okay, I hesitantly write this but only because I love this place and if y'all start coming in, I won't have a place to sit!
I go here at least 3x a week for lunch. There is nothing on the menu I have not tried and I love it all!!
Recommend the Salad Meal ...theee sides and homemade bread.
Keep in mind, the daily sides are a list of 4-5 hot sides and 5-6 cold sides...everyone DELISH!!
First of all, really cool ambiance. What caught our eye was their logo: two Boston Terriers (we have four). The walls are covered in wine corks and some recycled art. The doorway to the patio is surrounded by photographs of (drumroll) "Two Dogs". Apparently, if you bring in a framed photo of your "Two Dogs" for the to hang, you get a free lunch! On to the food: I ordered their quiche of the day (ham and onion) with two sides (creamed spinach and hopping Juan). The quiche was on point, and I am spoiled by my sister who is an avid quiche-maker. Hopping John is a traditional southern dish of black eyed peas. Two Dogs' hopping Juan is a cold, southwestern black eyed peas salad, which was about as elevated as you could hope from the humble field pea. Now the creamed spinach blew us away. This is where the local, organic vegetables really shine. My meal was completed by a house made hunk of (sourdough?) rye.
My wife ordered a half of a roasted vegetable salad and a half of a chicken quesadilla, which came with a side: Caesar pasta arugula salad. We both really enjoyed the roasted veggie salad; it tasted like it came from our garden. The chicken quesadilla was also great, it had a very unique sauce, which reminded me of a mole. The pasta salad was tasty too. My wife really liked that you could order a "half of this and a half of that." Can't wait to go back, and we are each bringing a photo of our "Two Dogs".
My family and I loved eating dinner here. We had Gouda fritters, quesadilla, Greek salad, bbq shrimp and grits, and pasta jambalaya. We all loved our food so much that we went back for brunch today! Today we had the quiche, 2 Dog Benedict, the standard, and the pimento burger; all of which were superb!
The food and staff are equally wonderful! Food is on point and delicious every time
Yesterday I had the pleasure of eating 2 Dog twice in one day, both meals were excellent! I’ve been Eating 2 Dog for 20 years & I love it more & more with every meal I have.
Nice unique atmosphere, well priced, great quality food. I like that they list on their daily specials what local farm the produce came from. Wide selection of beer and drinks. Not a ton of parking (we parked at BofA and hoped they didn't tow us LOL) but that should not deter anyone from checking out this place.
Always a fantastic meal at this local gem!!! The wine is great too ☺️☺️☺️
We've eaten here for brunch many times, and, every single time, it was delicious! Great service too. Love the atmosphere and decor. What a gem in our little city!
Wonderful as usual 😊. This was our pre-anniversary dinner so we decided to try the new entrees instead of our favorite standards. The food was well-prepared, flavorful, and beyond our expectations. Our server, and her in-training buddy, were prompt, accommodating, and courteous. We had a great time!
If i could give more than 5 stars i would. We went on Saturday night. We drove from Jefferson to eat at another reaurant. The wait was going to be too long.. so we decided to try 2 dog. We had 3 kids and four adults.. no wait.. i had the best hambuger steak ever! We will be back! Service was awesome!
Great service and great food! They also brought out a bowl of water for the dogs and a treat for them.
Great food and great atmosphere! I had the pasta jambalaya and it was to die for!
Staff was friendly and accommodating to our no gluten(celiac)/ no dairy(allergy) restrictions. Food was fresh and super yummy!
I loved this place. Great food and service. Not too pricey either. Excellent find!
Amazing and creative food! Love the artistic atmosphere and decor. The creamed spinach was amazing. Hope to be back next time I am in Gainesville.
2 Dog is the place to go when you want to experience a good atmosphere, good service, and great food!
Traveling thru and ran across when we stopped for the night. Great food!! Service was excellent. One of the best meals we have had in long time. Definitely a 5!
We had dinner at 2 Dog last night & it was great! We really liked that there were vegetarian options on the menu. I enjoyed the House Speciality with mushrooms and my husband also enjoyed the Greek Pasta. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu.
A note to fellow travelers- this spot is worth the short detour from 985 for those weary of burgers along the road. The whole family was happy with their selections, the shrimp and grits were filling without being heavy and the staff was hospitable in this quirky yet modern eatery. Back on the road, the trip back to the highway made for a quick tour of this sweet little town.
Everything was ok, no complaints but nothing real exciting. I'll go back for another try.
Great Catering. Had 2 Dog cater a family event for 10. Food delicious and plenty for all. A great value. The chocolate peanut butter pie is to die for.
Always been my favorite!. First of all, I am an employee at 2 Dog. My positive words on the place are all true and from my heart! 2 Dog has been my favorite restaurant for YEARS - even before I worked there and before their move from the square. I love the fact that so many of the same people have worked there for so many years. It speaks highly. I love eating here and working here. The beer and wine selections are always diverse and make my taste buds happy. The Gouda Fritters are a must. As a vegetarian, I always leave happy and full! I wish that I had more room to type because I could go on forever! I am and will always be a loyal 2 Dog fan! Come see us!
Longtime Local Spot. Friendly staff, great rotating menu and beer selection.
Respectable mission, good food, wide beer selection. Having recently moved to Gainesville from Tampa, a big city with exceptionally diverse and high-quality food offerings, 2 Dog immediately caught my eye for its local, farm-to-fork focus. I respect any restaurant that attempts to support sustainable, ethical farmers and suppliers and to feed its community high-quality, healthy food. Tampa's Seminole Height's restaurant The Refinery comes to mind as a shining example, and perhaps 2 Dog could get some ideas from this wildly successful spot.
For what it's worth, here are my observations after four or five meals at 2 Dog:
The service at is consistently good. Every waitress I have had has been friendly and ready with recommendations.
Their rotating sides are creative and superb; I sort of wish their entrees rotated more often as well. I think The Refinery's small plate/large plate idea might work well here too. At 2 Dog, I have wanted to try multiple entrees and sides in one meal. It would be great to be able to pair smaller portions of each in small plate combos.
Their wine and beer selection is top-notch. I wish they had a more defined bar set-up like the Refinery. As a thirty-something, 2 Dog's bar or patio seems like the perfect spot to hang out for a couple of beers.
We love that our dog is welcome on the patio. :)
I love the culture and atmosphere at this restaurant, and after two months here, I am becoming a regular customer. 2 Dog has my loyalty.
Wonderful place for a foodie. Delicious food, a creative and changing menu, and unusual beers. $50 for dinner for 2. It was a wonderful experience.
I Liked it. This was a great find in Gainesville. Told about it so I came and Ill be back
Excellent!. I had dinner at 2 Dog with out of town company and everything was fabulous! Wonderfully warm place with very friendly people. Nice by the glass wine list and the Gouda Fritters were truly amazing! Some of the best grits I have ever had. Will definately be a repeat customer.
Stopped here after reading reviews. Kids and I thought food was very good, but husband thought mediocre. I was more disappointed in service. Waitriss was nice, but not very attentive. We were actually one of only two tables(end of lunch shift).
Dinner was Wonderful. We had dinner here about a month ago and enjoyed it so much we made a special trip to come back. The salads and dressings were full of flavor and the steak I had was perfect. I wasn't sure about eating green beans that were crunchy, but they were so good. We had the lime cream pie for dessert and could totally tell it was home made. We'll be back.
Note from 2 Dog. I am so proud to read all of the wonderful posted comments on Urbanspoon. I see Tim work so hard everyday in the kitchen and am so proud of all the staff at 2 Dog. Thank you for taking the time to review. Good or bad, we take them all into consideration and are grateful that you care enough to help us make 2 Dog all she can be.
Two Dog is one of the most unique restaurants that I have ever frequented. Tim Roberts, the chef and owner, has some of the best casseroles I have ever eaten. His shrimp dishes, shrimp and grits, buffalo shrimp and shrimp salads are to "die for." I heartily recommend Two Dog Restaurant to any and all, especially if you like to try different things, however, even his hamburgers are excellent. Try it once and it's just about a "given", you will return.

"Diamond in the ruff". 2 Dog is truly one of the best places to eat in Gainesville. The food is exceptional as well as the service. You get a mixture of all different types of foods and all the ingredients are fresh and well prepared (not many restaurants can say that). It gives you a since of well being when you eat there because you know it's the kind of food that you SHOULD be getting at a restaurant. I have not had anything at 2Dog that was not good, which is a statement in itself. It's a great addition to Gainesville so GO, eat and enjoy!!!
Stellyb3265. A true treasure to the Gainesville community. I have dined at 2 Dog since they first opened. The food is always fresh & full of flavor. I love to dine at 2 Dog especially in the spring & summer when 2 Dog is receiving most of their produce from a local farmer. If you've never been you are missing out on a real treat.
2 Dog Cafe is great!. 2 Dog Cafe is the best place to eat in Gainesville hands down. Not only will you find delicious, fresh food, the atmosphere from it's friendly staff to it's sophisticated yet quaint setting make you want to never leave. I always feel at home whenever I am there. Check it out-- the Rosa is a great choice for lunch. The Peanut Butter Pie and chocolate chip cookies will be a dessert you never forget.
GREAT EXPERIENCE. 2 Dog provides the best customer service in a dimly lit environment. The whimsical artwork and cork wall create a great mood. I have never ordered anything in particular that I didn't enjoy. Kudos to the chefs, especially Alex. ;)
Always great!. Their food is consistently great, the service is top-notch, and the wine list is exceptional. It is always a treat to eat at 2 Dog. When the weather is nice, we enjoy sitting outside on thier patio.
Awesome Restaurant. This is an amazing local restaurant with amazing people as well! There is something new and different almost every day. You will never find another restaurant quite like it. Try the Beef Beast followed by some Peanut Butter Pie!
Love, love, love!. Love this restaurant, the staff is so incredible and very attentive. They are always so friendly and knowledgable of the menu. The food is always good and the presentation is superb. I have to have the peanut butter pie everytime I go there. Try this place out, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent dining!!!. Great ambiance...wonderful staff...fabulous food. A must for all who love great food!
Great Place. 2 Dog is our favorite place to eat. Each month the menu changes. Tim uses fresh local veges when available! Eating outside on the patio is the best. We take all our friends and family that come from out of town to eat there. Try it once and you will go back again and again!
Outstanding. Have eaten here several times. The menu is innovative, original and always has many items that tempt me, but i have to settle for one at each meal. The food and service have been outstanding, The food tasty, healthy, beautifully presented, and the people are welcoming and cheerful. Its always a treat and a fun experience
Where else in Gainesville but.... 2 Dog!
Traveling the world has given me the opportunity to taste some wonderful food and 2 Dog is definitely Gainesville's spot. My favorite dish changes with each visit as does their fantastic menu. I would suggest you give them a try and come back the next day for a new experience.
Eclectic & Quaint. A great little local place, with an eclectic flair from the décor to the food. The menu is quite different and every dish we ordered (5 of us) was great. Service was outstanding, and attentive, but not annoying (which I loved). For a smaller party, if the weather permits, I would definitely sit on the patio. My husband laughs at me, but the kitchen is visible on the way to the restroom and the cleanliness….made it that much better for me.
Great little place. This place has been a treat for my wife and I. I have a few food allergies, every time I eat at 2dogs the wait staff is very knowledgeable and patient with me. The food is always great, the atmosphere is charming, and the wine list makes my wife smile. The only downside are the prices which aren't sky high but high enough.
