Excellent authentic food and everything we had was delicious. I got the #59, Mixteca Plato (pictured) - flauta, beef enchilada and al pastor gordita. Homemade flour tortillas, everything seasoned perfectly, service was superb and we had a great meal. We would definitely go back. Mixteca set the bar high on flavor and authenticity. Great prices, truly a local hangout and nothing fancy inside, but beginning to end a great experience. Try the sopaillas!
Good breakfast food! We got a bean and cheese taco, the chorizo and egg plate, and a breakfast burrito. The chips and salsa were very good also! Flavorful but not too spicy.
Good food and an officer was on location with his own purchase! That's how we knew where to eat!!
What a charming spot! It is easy to see this is where the locals like to eat. The Mexican food is delicious, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is very inviting. Great restaurant!

Nice mexican food. Don't judge the place by how it looks from the outside. The pastor tacos had to be refilled.
La Mixteca is a wonderful place, it opens fairly early (M-S 7am | S 8am) so it a great place to stop for breakfast before work. The Carne Guisada is probably the most tender in Galveston and not very greasy. It is also much less expensive than other breakfast burrito places in the vicinity. The Huevos Rancheros are tasty as well with a Spicy sauce yet not overwhelmingly so. Lunch can be busy most days. However, the staff is very quick and friendly and you don't have to wait forever for your food. The enchiladas are good as well. Overall I feel this is definitely a great place to go. Either just passing through town or being a local such as myself.
The food was so good, and the service was quick. The burrito was a great size for a breakfast burrito and the price. The salsa is not spicy for those who might not like spicy.. I will definitely be going back
Local hangout - excellent food. Portion sizes are generous, and flavors are great. Hubby always goes with the enchilada verde as it is the best he has ever eaten. Salsa is fresh and delicious. Go with the charro beans- you won’t be disappointed. Service is prompt.
