If Star BBQ were to close their doors tomorrow, people would miss out on the opportunity to experience authentic Korean barbecue in a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience that is not easily found in Garden Grove, and its closure would leave a void in the local culinary scene. Those who have dined at Star BBQ know that it is not just about the food, but also the experience of grilling your own meat and sharing delicious banchan with friends and family.
When it comes to KBBQ my family only goes here because my mother likes the coffee ice cream! We don't eat KBBQ too often but when we do it's here. There is always a wait during dinner rush. As of March 2022 only the front dining room is open.
Service is usually good, everyone is always nice and helpful. If they're backed up then it can be a tad slow, but it's not the servers fault. You always see them trying their best with each table. The food is good. I'm not an expert on meat cuts and all so I wouldn't be able to go into detail but I enjoyed everything I ate and I ate everything.
We've been coming here for years. Be it friends or family. When we mention KBBQ somehow Star always comes up. We always leave full and happy. It's a tradition that won't be broken any time soon.
Phenomenal place to have an affordable birthday for a close friend. Come here enjoy the food, ice cold drinks and laughs you share while cooking. They have a promo with Cass so buy one get one free it’s a steal!
The meat choices were plenty and delicious. The service was excellent. I didn't have to track down the server ever time to order more items. He was very attentive. Be prepared to be on a wait list of you're dining during dinner time on the weekends
My experience with this place was so awesome! I came to my table and was sitting right next to a tv with k-pop on and I love k-pop so I was dancing the whole time. The food was delicious and juicy and the people we sat next to were really nice and the service was really good too. I would love to come here again.
Kind of a KBBQ noob, but the food was great, price was cheaper than the other 3 places I have gone to in the local area, and the selection was great.
Celebrated my gf's bday with her family here and we all had a great time. + bonus points for the ice cream you can grab on your way out.

One of my favorite KBBQ spots around. The meat quality and sides are always on point and it’s affordable! If you are going to drink take advantage of their drink deals!
The food is good here, so is the service. The service was super fast and we were able to sit down fast. This place has changed over the years, but the price has gone up. A real good place for a good experience, but I couldn't afford coming here all the time. I enjoyed everything from all the various types of food you can order. The ice cream at the end was delicious.
Truly the best BBQ in the world, by far! Quality meat, well-fermented kimchi, fresh salad and other side dishes, reasonable price, and the best frozen yogurt! The best part about the yogurt is that it's FREE! I come all the way from LA Korea Town, and this is as good as it gets! The servers try, although they are quite busy. This place is happening, for a reason. I love the porrage, dwenjang jjigae, and soju! Simply the best... It's even better now that it has been renovated!
I have never been to a BBQ style restaurant like this but I LOVED IT!!!! I really enjoyed myself and this is a place I recommend every go to atleast once in thier life.. It was absolutely outstanding and I can't wait to experience this again...
The others lie! The price was awesome and the food was so good I didn't even stop when I got the meat-sweats. I kept on going because quitting is for quitters. Pain in my chest? Pff...I walked it off over to the self-serve ice cream. The staff, which was awesome and friendly, brought anything I wanted without stalling. Personal fave: bulgogi. Anyway, bring your A-game for this place.

First family kbbq in over a year. Wow!! So glad we picked Star. The meat was delicious and tender. The sides are tasty. Service was awesome. We love our servers. Everything was super efficient. One small drawback is the octopus. It wasn’t the one we usually had and didn’t tasted as good. But the other meats make up for it. Ohh and because of covid, no more free ice cream.
Tips: we had to wait an hour because we didn’t anticipate the wait. So call ahead of time to put your name down.
Great meat choices and good cuts.they as well have great happy hour, get a beer and second one for 1 cent. They dont offer any seafood, however they have really good choices of beef and pork;plus great side orders, from fried rice to steam egg.
