We stayed at Belhurst Castle on a Wednesday night. I really wanted to eat at Edgar's. I called earlier in the week, but reservations were booked. When we arrived we checked at the restaurant and they were still full. We stopped by a little later and they seated us in the bar area at a table (as they were still full). Service was great! The bartender/waiter was very attentive. The food was good, but the atmosphere was great. I thought my dinner was a little pricey - $50 for 6 jumbo scallops over white rice and a few peas on top. Wine was expensive too. $34 for the same bottle we had just purchased in their wine shop for $19. If we brought our own bottle, there was a $15 fee. Dessert was excellent. It was a nice quiet dinner.

The castle is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous, and the food was delicious. They are very short staffed (and would love to have you come in for an interview), but they took good care of us. The steaks were amazing, and gumbo was tasty with a suttle smoky flavor and a light kick. It was even better as left overs! We enjoyed ordering a few desserts and sharing. Peanut butter pie was very rich, Pistachio cheesecake was sweet and a fun and unique dessert (it is quite sweet!). The apple pie and ice cream was everything it should be.

Magnificent evening on the beautiful grounds with views of the lake. The food was absolutely delicious. You need to plan an evening here by reservation but it is worth it. The decor of the restaurant is filled with antiques reminiscent of another era. The service was excellent and we enjoyed relaxing on the lawn after to enjoy the view.

Warm, rich wood tones all around. Stunning wood mouldings make for woodworkers eye candy. The food selection is varied and the ones my party consumed are delicious! The lake views are spectacular!

Staff is courteous and competent, and the food was excellent! Very able to accommodate dietary restrictions. I eat minimal gluten and my husband is diabetic. The majority of their entrees are gluten free, they have gluten free bread, and they have a delicious gluten free chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert. We came here for my husband's birthday dinner. They normally present the birthday honoree with complimentary cake, but switched to dark chocolate covered strawberries (which are considerably more diabetic friendly). My dinner was an amazingly harmonious set of flavors. Admittedly, I'm no connoisseur, but I've never before had a pork chop that was explosively juicy (yes, it's really possible!). The apple, onion and fennel salad sounded a little strange to me, but was delicious and a perfect compliment for the pork. My husband's gumbo was spicy and flavorful. Definitely an experience we hope to repeat.

Edgar's have my wife and I and our frit one of the best nights out we've had in a very long time. Our server, Brandon, was extremely helpful and paid great attention to us through the night. We mentioned there were food allergies when we made the reservation for dairy and gluten and they had a separate laminated menu to use that called out what was safe. We were extremely impressed. This all was followed up with amazing food and drinks and dessert!

Perhaps you've had this experience: you find yourself in an idyllic setting when suddenly you find a small stone, a scruple, in your shoe. Although your surroundings are still beautiful, it is that nagging annoyance that commands your attention. Such was our dinner at Edgar's at Belhurst Castle. Let's start with the basics. Belhurst Castle is a beautiful venue, replete with beautiful views of Seneca Lake. The grounds are magnificent, as is the interior decor. If you are looking for an impressive venue, this is it. Our server was excellent. When we asked if we could be seated at a table with a better view, she was quick to accommodate us. She was ever attentive and professional throughout our meal, even remembering our anniversary with complimentary champagne. As to our meal, we started with excellent bread served with artisanal butters, followed by the Cara’s Caprese Salad, which was quite good, with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. My wife chose the Filet Mignon, served with grilled vegetables and potatoes. My wife declared her steak was cooked to perfection. I had the Pan-Seared Sea Scallops which was served with a tasty angel hair pasta. The scallops were quite good. So, with all that was so good, what fault could we find? It turns out that many items on the menu are marked "Market Price". I have worked for a fishmonger, and I completely understand the volatility of seafood pricing. I was surprised by the that so many of beef items were included in market pricing. Perhaps I am clueless as to the volitilty of beef pricing, but the claim of Market Pricing seems somewhat disingenuous to me. Even the local Chinese restaurant manages a little piece of tape with the changed price. I can't help but feel that Edgar's is trying to shield us from sticker shock. To me, that you're going to Belhurst Castle for a special occasion you've already factored in that your meal will be pricey. So just let us know. Knowing the price would not have deterred us from our choices. So, a great meal, great service, a beautiful venue, marred by what I view as a flawed policy.

We took our family, eight of us. The food and service was good. At the end, we got a quick tour and history lesson of the castle from our waiter Brandon.

wow! what an incredible architectural delight .right on the lake..beautiful dining area! Nice winery with a great wine tasting offered! all of their white wines were delicious. we had lunch at Edgars but had their $12 buffet lunch..not many selections but not horrible for 1w dollars..wait staff was excellent ...hamburgers iverdone..loaded potato soup..very nice..fresh crisp salad. One more entree selection would have been nice and an increase in price for the addition would be wwlcomed.

We went for brunch and had a lovely time! Everything was delicious and we particularly enjoyed the kale ceasar salad. They have a plethora of options to choose from and I would recommend it to anyone in the area. Special thanks to our waitress Jeanette who explained everything well to start, and kept up impeccable timing throughout our dining experience!
