If you have never eaten Vietnamese food this is the best place to go. The owner is absolutely wonderful. Proudly explaining the wonderful food. Let's start with the ambiance of the restaurant. I looks like fine dining, but with comfort. Well lit, soft music, modern and clean.
Then there is the owner. You can see in her face the pride she takes in her establishment. And rightfully so. She brought our menus and told us what drinks they had. OMG They have fresh squeezed orange juice. It was amazing.
We got our juice, ordered, and then **key violins** our food. When one says they feast with their eyes first the chef knew this. The plates were well arranged and gorgeous. I had no idea what to do. But there is the owner asking if we had ever eaten this cuisine before. When we said no, she walked us through it. As beautiful as the plate looked, the food was even more amazing. True broken rice, with a fish sauce that had me thinking about it on the way home. Shredded pork, smoked to perfection, A shrimp cake that was in the flakiest of crusts.
Please try this place. It won't disappoint.
My mom and I went Broken Rice tonight in Gladstone off North Oak to try their hot pot. They have one option of hot pot.... seafood with octopus, shrimp, mussels, and a nonSeafood option - beef. We really enjoyed it....Had the sweet potatoes and shrimp for an app; also yummy! BUT I think the best part of all was the staff. They were very helpful and friendly. I’m just getting into eating Vietnamese food so I can’t really speak of authenticity but I enjoyed everything about our visit and will definitely be back to experience more!
Loved this place! I kindof don't want to tell you as then it might get busy! I had the chicken wings with broken rice and my husband had the combination platter - the grilled pork was fantastic - Careful though the duck sauce is spicy! We will be back!
So amazing! Friendly wait staff and owner. Adorable kids here and you can tell that it is a family place. So clean and fresh looking. Now the food.... is another level is awesome!
I am now questioning if I have ever eated Vietnamese before! The flavors in our meal were completely unique to anything else I've had. Great food, great price, great service.

Chai tea heaven! Will definitely be back. Broken rice with chicken. Simple and delicious. Our toddler loved it too.
Amazing hidden gem in Gladstone! Very nice decor and super clean. My server Jane was amazing. The food was well prepared and extremely tasty. I'll be going back for sure!
The environment is spacious and welcoming. Staffs are friendly and polite. Foods are delicious; they come in generous portion at an affordable price�

Our first visit at Broken Rice restaurant, nice & pleasant place. The foods are amazingly delicious. But most of all is the outstanding service, will be visiting again for more.
My family of 4 went visited last week and we were blown away. The service was amazing. The food was incredible!! My kiddos are begging to go back again��

Absolutely 💯 love this place!! The food is beyond fresh and amazing 👏 I will most definitely be returning to this restaurant again!!! The lavender limeade was some if the best I've ever had!! And the broken rice was tender and the beef was so succulent!!
I'm pretty picky when it comes to Vietnamese food, but it was a pleasant visit and we will be back. The pork chop was alright but the rest of the food was really good. Having different fish sauce for different type of meals is definitely a plus to me. The restaurant is clean and service is good. The homemade jackfruit ice cream is really delicious (not overly sweet). One recommend for the restaurant is that adding the price on the menu for all the extra/new items for the customer to easily view 😉
It's hard to find a traditional broken rice dishes in KC. This may be the best place to get in KC. It's very tasty and authentic. Love the bacon bits and scallions they put on their rice, it just crispy and melts in your mouth. The rice dishes comes with a soup which is pleasantly tasty and it's not bland like some other restaurants. The meat is also tender and not over powering with their season. There's so many varieties and the combination is one of my favorites.
Also, they have hot pot. It's good to eat with a group of friends or family and share. Variety of seafood with rice noodles and veggies. YUM!!!
The service was exceptional as well.
We had a delicious dinner herr! Three of us shared the sampler appetizer which is not pictured here. Reed got a sampler type of dinner, Alexis and I both got Bun, and Marian got a noodle soup which she devoured, literally eating every last noodle out of the adult-sized bowl despite the fact that she is four. The nibbling of her noodles was combined with all kinds of commentary and sounds about how delicious it was.
This restaurant is very clean, the decor looks great, the presentation of the food was great, and it was delicious! Despite having a few fried items, we left feeling like we had a very healthy and well-balanced meal.
Best broth n clear pho. Bun mees good too just need to be a bit bigger or cheaper. Pho is delicious for sure.
We really liked this Vietnamese restaurant and have been there twice now. We'd never heard of broken rice before, but I loved the texture! We went with another couple and sampled plenty of different dishes. My favorite was the broken rice w/ short rib. We were the least impressed with the appetizers. This is what we ordered:
{Spring Rolls} - good but could use more shrimp
{Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings} - on the small side w/ not much meat
{Sweet Potato Fries w/ Shrimp} - the best out of the 3 appetizers
{Broken Rice w/ Porkchop} - husband's choice; 2nd favorite
{Broken Rice w/ Charbroiled Short Rib} - my choice; favorite combo
{Rice Noodle bowl w/ Grilled Pork} - good but prefer the rice plate
{Rice Noodle bowl w/ Stir-Fried Beef, Bell Pepper, & Onion} - also good but would like this with the rice!
Really great and tasty. I had woven vermicelli with pork and egg rolls. My wife had a great Chicken Lemongrass
One of the areas hidden gems! Completely authentic and delicious I wish the pictures could express the taste. The portion sizes and prices are equally as good. Definitely worth returning.
