Best breakfast on St. Simon! I got the biscuit and gravy with a side of bacon. I have had biscuit and gravy at many places, but Mallery Street Cafe tops them all, especially when ordering the biscuit fried. The service was excellent. Very kind and fast. We sat outside with the dog and the outside tables were comfortable and shaded.
Just look at that chicken biscuit! We hit a few breakfast places around town during our vacation, and Mallery won the effort necessary to post a review. Coming back tomorrow for the Asparagus salad with salmon.
As my wife and I continue to eat our way thru St. Simon's Island we opted for Mallrerys Street Cafe for breakfast. We were seated promply and with a smile. I ordered the European Omelette with goat cheese and a side of bacon while my wife chose the Sassy Omelette with brie. The food was fresh, tasty, and prepared well. The biscuit was fluffy and huge. All in all a good experience and we highly recommend Mallerys Street Cafe.
Great local breakfast! I had the eggs McIntosh (with crab) and corned beef hash. The hash was cooked perfectly crispy and it was all delish. I tried the omelette and it was nice and fluffy. Highly recommend this local joint!
Great place for breakfast!! We enjoyed a few breakfasts here during our annual February visit! First off they know how to cook eggs!! They know what over medium means! Next the coffee is always hot & fresh! Their bacon is AMAZING!! Nice & crispy!! And just tastes so good. Definitely not too salty, just excellent!! Their toasts are delicious, at least the wheat & white, that we had. I enjoyed a 3 egg omelet with spinach, tomato, onion & bacon. It was really good. The pancakes were very big and yummy! The breakfast potatoes are really good. Although a bit too salty. I guess my only critique is too much salt on the potatoes.
And the service was top notch! The servers worked together as a cohesive team and communicated nicely with each other. Constantly checking on each other's tables. It was nice to see that.
And the wait for your food order was minimal. I mean they are fast!
I visited the Mallery Street Cafe on the second day of my vacation to St. Simons Island based on a good review score here on Google. It's really close to all of the village shops, conveniently located, and we had no trouble finding parking. This is going to sound like hyperbole, but I had the single greatest salad I've ever had in my life. The "Black and Blue Salad", which is a NY Strip steak (I ordered mine medium rare and blackened), bleu cheese, and fried green beans over a mixed greens salad with cucumber and tomato. The steak was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY. There was just the right amount of bleu cheese, and the citrus vinaigrette was an amazing accompaniment. I'm serious in saying this would be my death row meal. Every bite of steak accompanied by one of the fried green beans was a perfect bite. The batter that they coat and fry the beans in is DELICIOUS. If you don't order this incredible salad, at the very least get a side of the beans. My family got breakfast foods and all said they loved them, too. The pancakes were big and fluffy. All of the portions were big and everything is reasonably priced. I thought about the black and bleu salad all week and had to go back again for my last day of vacation. It was my favorite meal on the island, and I was able to have it twice, and can happily report my second experience was consistent with my first. It still stands as the best salad I've ever had in my life, and it was my favorite meal on the island.
Mouth watering! Found this place by mistake which I am so grateful for. The service was impeccable. The food was incredible. Not over seasoned, cooked perfectly! Small and quaint just like the town it's in. I will definitely stop again if I'm in the area. The biscuit was so good and you know you are in the south when they bring the Honey!!!
THIS PLACE DESIRES 10 STARS! They SAVED US!
Went to SSI about a month ago for our 30th wedding anniversary trip. Stayed at a pretty nice resort on the island. Had already had a couple of less than stellar experiences in their onsite restaurant. Anyway, we opted to venture out for breakfast on our first full day. FOUND THIS FREAKIN PLACE!!! I LOVE THEM! LOVE THEM! We went there every remaining morning of our trip. The level of their food was unexpected. The service was GREAT! The atmosphere was genuine! I right now struggle writing this review in fear we won't be able to get a table in the future once y'all land pirates read this! Going to SSI again this weekend and have every intention of being their for breakfast Saturday. SAVE US A TABLE PLEASE!!!
Y'all aint listening! THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!
A very cute, family-owned café that serves up a very tasty breakfast. Enjoyed the Islander Omlet with grits and English muffins. The service is very friendly and attentive. Good place to go for breakfast. It also has a bar, so it's probably a great hangout in the evenings, as well.
We recently went here for breakfast with our kids during a summer trip to St Simons. The food was good but the service was not. Our waitress was not friendly. The other waiters and waitress that were around seemed much friendlier.
We had a great experience this morning. Fast service and delicious food!! The best breakfast potatoes, eggs Benedict with crab, and amazing French toast. The candied coffee pecans were so good!
Delicious breakfast! Coastal omelette with shrimp & scallops was FANTASTIC! Biscuits are super yummy! County Eggs Benedict was FABULOUS, while breakfast potatoes were a tad too salty, but cooked just right! The place was super busy! Highly recommend!
It's awesome!
It's clean. Though, the menus could be fixed & maintained better. It's my recommendation that you could laminate menus & place on walls of each table (perhaps surrounded by cute frames). This way, menus are handled less (& also creates less of a catalyst for destruction) & dirty hands aren't contaminating them therefore it would help reduce plastic waste & tree health which allows humans to breathe better oxygen & furthers our initiative to cleaner atmosphere & Earth.
Service is great.
Food is even better.
If you are familiar with my other reviews (see 'my contributions') you'll know I never give 5stars unless it's absolutely perfect. Perfection is hard to attain so I rarely rate that many. I also have high standards. It's my opinion the world won't change 1 iota without extreme considerations. I think reviewers rate way too easily without much thought.
The only other thing I would concern myself with, to grab that elusive 5th star, is make things less cluttered. There's an empty golf bag, coats hanging about, purses laying around, etc. These objects are employees personal items. It makes it seem clumsy & uncared for or neglectful. In which case it may, subconsciously, equate to (or make someone consider) the food or service could be (or become) neglectful. I'm observant & I consider all angles so I know that's not the case but it certainly couldn't help to clean some things up around there, either.
My thoughts while eating there today were that they should expand their business. I think they would want to stay local: service can remain the same & management can control the little details better. On the other hand, I know this great little restaurant that began the same way.
Bob Evans has expanded exponentially. They're choices were first breakfast meals. Their service standards were excellent so they could compensate for expansions. Granted, not every Bob Evans is grand but, Mallory's is the type of standard that makes for a serious consideration for growth. As long as you keep the service on fresh food, customers & community you'll go far.
The other reason for 4stars is their involvement in community. An island vibe (& island mentality) is fantastic so if you convey this throughout your relations then you could become unmatched.
Keep it up!
We made our mark on their table today because the food is so fresh! We also were able to easily watch the Veterans day parade! You can tell community is important to them. I appreciate this.
Update! We came back the next wknd. Was busy, no tables inside. We're die hard fans enough to sit outside in the cold (48°F!). Here's another 2 pics for evidence [5total]! ;)
Very busy little place. Sometime, with waiting line up to 45 min. Plenty of food omelets are large. Big fluffy biscuits.
Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish! The servers were so kind and friendly and helpful! The food was gorgeous and wonderfully delicious and came out to the table much faster than we ever expected! My family and I enjoyed it so much we wanted to just stay and chat and wait til lunch to eat there again! The classic eggs Benedict, bananas foster crepes, biscuits and gravy, French toast sticks, and eggs McIntosh were all so tasty! 10/10 stars! And if you can, sit outside. It was beautiful! And again, the servers were so friendly, offering recommendations for other restaurants and places to visit during our vacation. This is a must go to restaurant. We plan to go back at least once more before our trip comes to an end!
