The next Panera's. Had a great salad and sandwich last week. Was impressed by the unity of the atmosphere/decor/theme as well as the enthusiastic and friendly staff. After eating I spoke to the manager and the owner who said he still has a "few kinks to work out" before considering franchising.
We came for the stone oven pizza and agreed that the crust (traditional) was outstanding. Scrape off the toppings, give us only the crust, we'd still enjoy the meal. Sausage for her, margherita for me. None of that excessive salt laden stuff. These were fresh made and fresh tasting.
Salads excellent (chopped and Greek).
Nice selection of soft drinks for us non-alcoholic types (S. Pellegrino, etc).
We liked the large room, furnished with solid tables and chairs, lots of windows.
Excellent Food at a Nice Lunch Spot. This is a great lunch or casual dinner spot. The pizza and sandwiches are excellent. It isn't full "sit-down service", you order at a counter and then they bring the food out to you.
It's slightly more expensive than other lunch places, but the food is also significantly better.
Great food, great atmosphere, great value.... We really appreciate having a place like Gus' on the N.E. side of GR. Great experience all the way around each time we visit. Will recommend Gus' to many, many others. Love this place...
Had fish ladder and must say look like the fish was shredded for 8.00 bicks would of loved to see a nice pice of fish. Food was ok got charged a lot for a chesse pizza that did not have four cheeses tasted like mozz with parm on the top.
Great new restaurant. Pizza crust is outstanding! Margarita pizza isn't to be missed.
YUM!. Along with wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff, the food at Gus's Original is outstanding! On my first visit there I had the "Strawberry Patch" salad, in the mikro size. It was a very generous portion. Chock full of fresh romaine blend lettuce, strawberries, dried cherries, mandarin oranges, apples, gorgonzola cheese, and pecans (which I skipped) served with an unbelievable homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It was so good that when I had family over for a cook out for the 4th of July, I went out of my way to pick up two of the larger size to serve everyone! As a treat, I also tried some of the Mooville ice cream - the caramel sea salt flavor. That was to DIE for! You owe it to yourself to try this place. Great food, excellent service and very reasonable prices. Good for Gus!
Pretty Darn Good. Don't mess around, get the Gus's Original. A chili dog pizza. Incredible. Top everything off with some of their ice cream. Oh yea.
Gus's IS original. Tasting is believing! when I bit into the Hawaiian style pizza with bits of mango and pineapple, cheddar and mozzarella on this crispy-on-the-outside/tender-on-the-inside crust I became a believer in this new pizzeria in Grand Rapids. In addition to the great crusts and toppings, they serve Sprecher's root beer on tap (now all they need is the pitchers to serve it in). And love the vintage photos of GR tastefully posted around the spartan brick interior. I am going back to try the appealing assortment of pizzas, regular or thin crust, plus oven-baked sandwiches and salads.
Yummy food, great price.. I had one of the grilled sandwiches. Loved the bread. Crusty on the outside, soft and somewhat dense on the inside. Toppings were clearly fresh as it gets. They serve a delicious root beer on draught. The rest of the menu looked amazing and I can't wait to try it all. Delicious looking ice cream options including Sea Salted Caramel. Try it.

The son of the original proprietor of Red Hot Inn, Matt Koukios, honored his father by naming the restaurant after him, and opened the restaurant on property already owned, adjacent to Red Hot Inn. (We dislike the additional “s” after the apostrophe but it falls within appropriate grammar rules :) We walked in, disappointed when we discovered it was counter service. And this restaurant is a little more confusing than most. Enter through a long hall, with a hard-to-read menu taped on the wall and an arrow pointing you to the order counter. We gave up on reading the hall menu and headed for the order counter, where we were met by an unfriendly, impatient employee. Sorry - we need a minute to read the over-hanging menu and no one is waiting behind us, so chill. Our order placed, we attempted to pay but were shushed down the way to another station, attendant needing to be called by the aforementioned employee to take our money. Pick up your silverware, fill your beverage, find a seat, and
The pizza quality and choices were fantastic. So were the prices since we were there on Tuesday where there is a buy one get one free special for medium pizzas. the dining room was cozy and warm on a cold, snowy winter day.
Service was okay, not bad but the person who took our order looked like she would much rather be somewhere else. We figured out for ourselves where the plates were and that you need to bus your own table when you're finished.
A fun little joint, with great pizza and other offerings too. I always go for the pizza, but will have to try the wings out sometime. Staff is nice, helpful, and efficient. I like the decor on the inside and the drinks and ice cream you can also get there. I would consider this a (somewhat) hidden gem.
We ordered food from here for our daughter's first birthday party. We are happy beyond words. Guests were asking about the food it was that good. Specially the owner - Matt is very helpful and suggests honestly on the quantity & options. Highly recommend it and we will come back for sure.
Just went here to eat. The pizza was very good the wings were very good the chips were very good the sandwiches were very good. But wasn't great was the speed of service it was very slow. They did look like they were hit with a ton of people all at once so maybe they were just super busy but it just seemed very slow. Given places like Pieology are right down the road it's hard to understand how they could go slow during that busy moment. But like I said the pizza was very good.
This was my first time here, and it was the night before Thanksgiving, so it seemed understaffed. Other than that, I liked what I saw. It had a long and varied menu, based on Mediterranean/ Greek food, and American . It wasn't expensive, and it was family oriented. They had big tv's and an area with a fireplace and lending library. I felt comfortable eating slowly and chatting with my companion, in no hurry to move on. You get your own beverages, so the self service helps keep the cost down, but there's an attractive young staff there, usually within shouting distance, if necessary. I liked my food, and plan to return again one day to try more.
Great pizza (see photo), sandwiches and salads. And mooville ice cream to boot.
Great pizza. Great family atmosphere on the Sunday night that we stopped in for ice cream. Had a perfect espresso (in a real cup). Just discovered this place and am thrilled that it is on my way home from work so I can drop by again to grab a pizza or have a quick coffee.
The pizza and cheese bread was the best, seriously the best. And they have coffee AND ice cream! I went because of a coupon, we didn't get all the things we intended to because we were so full from the delicious pizza, but will definitely have to stop back for coffee and ice cream.
First time visiting. Excellent pizza the flavor from the brick oven really shined through. parmesan puff were disappointing, they lacked any real flavor to set them apart. Will definitely return to try a gourmet sandwich.
Great pizza. Took 15m from ordering to eating! Perfect place to get a quick dinner that tastes great. Also, my wife said the peanut butter cup cookie was "the best cookie I've ever eaten"
Perfect for a one on one with my nephew. He had a small meat pizza, original crust, great for him, growing boy. I had half of the Ionia sandwich on white with chips. Only thing bad was my pickle was very small and I love their pickles 😋😢
I ordered their Zorba cheesy bread. It's a Greek take on cheesy bread with lots of cheese, spinach, olives with a very yummy herbal seasoning. I ordered over the phone and was able to pick it up within 15 minutes. The service was friendly and the food is great! Not your run of the mill cheesy bread. I would post a picture of it but got swarmed by my co-workers who helped me eat it all up!
A nice place to dine for the whole family. The food was delicious. I had the Bourbon Street Pizza and it was fantastic!
We had a great experience with excellent service. Highly recommend!!

This place has some great food! When I went they we're very short staffed and another customer was upset and inside the my order was their order so to prevent more issues I worked with staff and they did everything they could to make it right! Over all it was great food and I will go back! Great job team! : Table 25 ^_^
They have some unique pizzas, buy manage to avoid being pretentious. I've only had the Gus's original, but will definitely be back for more. Great pizza place!
I love this place!
The pizzas are super delicious, the taste and texture of the dough are excellent, the service very good, my favorite one is the Bora Bora that has pineapple, mango, cheddar cheese, motzarella, ham and bacon, I add chicken. The pizzas are cooked in a brick oven.
Recomendada 100%
Las pizzas son super deliciosas, el sabor y la textura de la masa son excelentes, el servicio muy bueno, mi preferida es la bora bora que tiene piña, mango, queso cheddar, motzarella, jamon y tocineta, yo le agregué pollo.
