Man, let me tell you what!!!!! I have not had such fantastic food in a lonnnnnggggg time. When it comes to soul food, this is the best I've had in G.R. hands down!! Wayyyy better then 40 acres and Candied Yam....Everything was seasoned very well and the desserts were on point too.. The peach cobbler had a slightly burned taste, but it was still delicious. The staff is very helpful and pleasant to talk too. THIS IS A MUST VISIT RESTAURANT!!! One Love and keep the this lovely black owned business going!!!

We was looking for some good food and WOW this place is definitely that!! Everything was delicious some of the best Mac n cheese you will put in your mouth and the spaghetti was delicious.

I had the pleasure of eating here today for work. I had the meatloaf with cabbage. It was legit. The cornbread muffin was used as a sponge for the sauce. Great job. Good luck on your future success!

The food was amazing! The fried chicken was on point the gravy was something I’d never tasted before definitely made the mashed potatoes hit that much more the corn bread was perfect and the Mac and cheese is some of the best in GR! Don’t even get me started on the peach cobbler because I wouldn’t know how to tell you how good it was definitely a 10/10 in my book!

Sometimes you just want some good Ole soul food. I've been in the south a lot lately and I am shocked about how nasty and disappointing the soul food joints have been. But when I get back to West Michigan I can get some REAL soul food at Southern Smoke. I'm glad somebody is still doing it right. Chicken wonderful. Catfish on point. Real BAKED mac n cheese with actual cheese in it. It's like the south went north. You should try Southern Smoke.

just found this amazing sweet spot! got the turkey knuckles with gravy, greens, Mac and cheese and hot water cornbread. I am in ecstasy. definitely a must go to. planning on sharing my leftovers but not sure anymore if I want to

I ordered the special "Smothered Catfish Dinner", speechless.... like nothing I've ever tasted before🎯🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿. Red sauce meatballs🔥🔥🔥, greens, yams, Mac and cheese, hot water cornbread. Awesome hospitality, great music. I was greeted by both owners, humble and genuine people. Today was a first for me, I'm coming back and I'm recommending everyone I know. If you're in GR or Kent County and haven't been, you're missing out on life⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you want some good ole soul food, check this place out! I love ❤️ it. Staff was very friendly and the owner (black woman owned) came out to meet us. My new soul food spot.🥰

Food is excellent when I don’t want cook. Male heavyset server was very rude. He needed an attitude adjustment. The cashier heard him and said “I’m sorry “. It was my first time in for takeout. Thank goodness I let it roll. I don’t see the food I got listed.

Music, food and service is A++!! The owners came to greet us personally with smiles and ❤️ I ordered Mac n cheese, greens, sweet potatoes, smothered catfish 😍 hot water corn bread and pineapple upside down cake and every item was amazing!! We will most certainly be back!

Had the rib combination with collard greens, sweet yams and ribs! Pecan pie for dessert. Everything is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend. So amazing. 👍🏼😊🤩

I'm giving almost 5 Stars bcoz nothing is perfect. But the food looks delicious just from the images, but I know moist good cake when I see it. Perhaps I'm just hungry as hell.😁

I never knew this place existed. Let me just say first of all that this was some of the best customer service I have ever received. The young gentleman that rang me up was nice and polite and the young gentleman that make my food was pleasant. This black owned business is a must and I will be advertising it as much as I can. The food was amazing and they have such a variety of soul food from chicken and dumplings to liver and onion and I’m all for it. I will be returning, today in fact again.

Got 3 plates so I can have a little bit of everything. 1st plate was meatloaf, mac and spaghetti. 2nd plate was rib tips, cabbage and green beans. 3rd plate was pig feet, greens and dressing. Everthing was on point. Portions were big. Thank you for the great food. It will be my go to from now on, especially the weekend when they have pig feet and rib tips.

They have a great set up for dine-in. The food is amazing! The customer service is wonderful. The best soul/southern food I’ve had in Grand Rapids.
