Real Ga. BBQ. I've been eating Old Clinton BBQ ever since they opened in 1958.
I was 8 years old and my mom and dad stopped
On the way to the lake (Sinclair) most weekends.
Love their pork, love their sauce! I remember watching
the lady chop up the meat behind the counter.
Their BBQ is my favorite, always has been and
always will be. We bought 2 pounds to have with
our Thanksgiving dinner this year. So happy they are in
Milledgeville now!!!
Best wishes for your continued success,
Joan and Rick Bunge

Real GA BBQ. I absolutely do not understand the low rating of Old Clinton. I've posted about a few other BBQ joints in GA, since I really, really like BBQ. It has long been said that the Fresh Air BBQ in Jackson is the best in GA. That's debatable, of course (it's darned close), but if it is, Old Clinton comes in a close second for at least the northern half of GA. My wife is a shameless BBQ snob from SC and holds a dim view of GA BBQ and her vote is that this is indeed he best in GA. (I still have a lot of places to take her, though.)

Having grown up in Middle Georgia, I have eaten at Old Clinton for years. I'll still make twice yearly pilgrimage from Atlanta too the Old Clinton Community (it isn't really in Gray) to eat there. Yes, it's that good. Old Clinton has not stayed in business for 53 years selling bad BBQ to a local population that loves BBQ.

The pulled pork is moist, slow cooked and perfectly smoked. It is served with their own excellent sauce. The side dishes are so-so, but then they usually are in most good BBQ joints. The focus is on the pork. Their desserts - cakes and pies - are home made and delicious.

Don't go to the Old Clinton looking for style. It's a small family run place and is simple. I like that they still have wooden benches on top of saw dust outside for those who want to eat outdoors. The staff is always friendly and usually on first name terms with the regulars. It makes them very happy when people come all the way from Atlanta to eat there.

Great pulled pork sandwiches and a $5.00 lunch special through the week. (sandwich, chips, and drink). Friendly folks, takes debit cards and quick enough to stop in on the way somewhere.

Located between Macon and Gray, Georgia on U.S. 129, Old Clinton BBQ claims to be the best in Georgia. We stopped there on our way up to Athens for lunch. The outside is classic bbq, run down and ramshackle with some picnic tables in front under a small overhang. The welcome mat is saw dust on the floor and the inside consist of brown tables and a concrete floor. It looks like it has not been updated since the mid-70′s. I loved it. Upon entering the dining room was filled with an assortment of bikers and fellow college football fans who were all appeared to be enjoying their food. I was hungry but was instructed by a fellow traveler to avoid the Brunswick stew who said it was not very good. Since I do not really like Bruswick stew it was no loss to me. I then went up to the counter an ordered the pork plate with fries, slaw, a slice of 14 layer cake and a coke. The service was fast and friendly and in no time I had my 1970′s style cafeteria tray full of food. I fou

I enjoyed the experience of eating here as much or more than the food itself. It's definitely a must visit for anyone interested in the history of Georgia barbecue. I can't agree that it's the best in Georgia though. In my limited forays into the Peach State I have already been fortunate enough to eat at a few places that give them some stiff competition for that title, but having said that, they are definitely close to the top of the list.

The ribs were spare ribs which had been slow smoked in hickory with the membrane still on. They had good overall flavor and had neither been overcooked nor steamed to the point where the meat effortlessly fell off the bone

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid and now my own kids love it as well. The BBQ is one of a kind! The prices are fair. The staff is always friendly and remembers my order! The ribs, sausage, chicken, desserts, brunskwick stew, potato salad, and baked beans are all amazing. The lemonade is so good too. Definitely come here!

Had the Rib plate. Excellent, the bake beans were some of the best I've ever had. Definitely must stop if you're in the area. Pecan pie 🥧🥧 was excellent also.

Sandwiches very small but it was crazyAnd I asked for coleslaw on it but I didn't get that that's why you get four stars cuz I love BBQ with coleslaw did not have it you know I asked for it. The Brunswick stew is pretty good but the side orders are kind of missing I don't think anything is homemade the pool with BBQ. Brunswick stew kind of like pre-made store-bought stuff they don't make their own macaroni and cheese. The pecan pie and all the desert not homemade either. But the people working there were friendly. Need to clean up around the iced tea and lemonade I couldn't even put my cup down it was so gross how's my first time there I have kind of high expectations I expect that orders to kind of be homemade something I don't think anything was

I was outside doing some woodworking outside for a few hours and decided to stop by here for a meal on my break. I ordered a half chicken, ribs, and Brunswick stew. Everything was good but the ribs were GREAT! Huge hulking pieces of pork! Delicious Smokey flavor all the way through! Meat started falling off the bone as soon as I unwrapped it and started eating. I gave it a splash of the pretty tart vinegar based sauce. The smokey flavor still came through with every bite. Since moving to Georgia I've had barbecue at almost 50 places atleast. These were the best pork ribs I've ever had at a restaurant. Five Stars!!!

I always stop here for a pulled pork sammich on rye when traveling between Charlotte & South Georgia. Quality is almost always spot on and iced tea good. Love their spicy vinegar sauce. Closest to Carolina style bbq outside of the Carolinas. Also love the natural mulch picnic area out front.

It's so nice to go into a restaurant and be greeted cheerfully by a nice young lady. It's rare in today's world. She acted like she was glad to see me. This alone will bring me back, as well as great food!

3 LETTERS ......O...M...G!!! It's your boy The RIBOLOGIST. First off, vinegar bar b que is my least favorite. But I appreciate and respect ALL bbq. This place is what it is. A TRUE throw back to a time before dry rubs, high end smokers and flavor creativity. It is by far the best ribs & pork sandwich of the vinegar style of bbq. Ribs were meaty, tender & flavorful. ( Tastes of grill, wood and smoke) The pork sandwich was good for vinegar based.👍🏾 I will return to try more from the menu. IF YOU LIKE VINEGAR BBQ....... THIS IS THE BEST IN GA! Your boy The RIBOLOGIST IS OUT ✌🏾!!! P.S. The service was fast and pleasant as well. ( 3 VERY Nice young ladies )
