Cook your own steak or be prepared to pay an extra three dollars per steak. The prices are a bit high. Having said that, the steaks were very high quality farm to table steaks. This is not high brow aged beef but local farm to market fresh beef. I was very pleased with my steak but will be prepared next visit for the bill being on the high side. The salad bar was extensive and kept clean and stocked.
Amazing place if you know how to cook your steaks. I was in Grinnell for work and ate there twice it was so good. I would not recommend cooking the steak if you don’t have experience doing it. Pay the $3 extra and have them cook it. Will go back
An excellent steakhouse where you can grill your own steak. Ask for Shelly when they seat you; she's hilarious and the best waitress I've ever encountered!
I have eaten here several times. The steaks are fresh cut and the best quality, they must come from a local source. If you are lucky Shelly will wait on you, she is the best part of the experience. I highly recommend stopping by and grilling your own steak, what a fun time.
Love this place. Husband and I were very pleased when we went. For a steak house the portions were awesome enough for us to have to split a steak. The bar had great choices of drinks. The buffet was all fresh even the salad, quite a bit of home cooked food. Friendly staff and clean environment, will definately return again.
Good service and flexible staff, meat quality was excellent as well, but if you decide to have the kitchen cook your food, make sure you ask for seasoning or it's gonna be a bland meat dish. Excellent salad bar selection and very fresh food, if the meat menu had a listing of seasonings or marinades that would be an excellent addition. 4/5 only because of the issue that of the two grills only the smaller square one was working and it was full at the moment, requiring a 10-15m wait or have the kitchen cook it. Not so bad but the vent for that grill wasn't working very well, the front doors has to be opened to vent some of the smoke, that was clearly an issue, but otherwise not a bad experience overall.
I took my Mom there for her 86th birthday and our waitress Shelly was so good to her and brought her a slice of chocolate cake and sang happy birthday! This isn't a fancy place but it feels homey and relaxing! The steaks were good!
When we came in, it was nearly empty. For such a large, open restaurant, it was almost jarring to see no one. We sat down, ordered drinks and food, and waited. The service was fast and proper, and the steaks tasted excellent. We did not elect to cook our own, but I can't help but notice if we had, the steaks would have been under $20. The chocolate cake was also fantastic. All in all, a wonderful dining experience, even if a bit lonely.
