Hands down the best restaurant in the Hackettstown area. Actually, the best restaurant I've been to. Outstanding staff, impeccable service and incredible food! If you're looking for a top shelf dining experience then this place is for you. Every single item on the menu is the best thing I've ever eaten. I recommend JOM to everyone I know! Do yourself a huge favor and book your table today because I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

This has become our favorite place to eat. It's pricy but have yet to have anything to eat there that is not outstanding. The chef has awesome specials. I had his oyster as an appetizer, over the top. The steaks are another of my favorites along with the veal chop. Reservations only.

My son and I stopped in for brunch before he returned to college. We sat at the counter, which gave us full view of prep and finished dishes. We enjoyed watching the creative and meticulous plating of each order. It was Sooooo good I wanted to lick the plate!

From Gabby our server, to the host, to Chef Bill, our experience was amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food absolutely delicious. You must try this quaint restaurant, you will not be disappointed!!

I’m a local and go here all of the time. The food is excellent, so is the friendly service. It’s so good and consistent I bring all of my friends here, too. Plan in advance and make a reservation for this awesome BYO.

So delicious! I had trouble deciding just how many amazing dishes to try! Great Brunch :) came back last night to try dinner and was SO impressed. Each bite, from the herbed butter and hummus they gave us to start, to the chicken corn chowder with CORN BREAD CROUTONS (what?! Out of this world!) then we each had one of the specials. Hands down there is NO other restaurant in the area or even surrounding area that comes close to the level of food that is delivered at James on Main. This restaurant is now our new favorite spot!! Make sure to make a reservation! We sat at the bar which was actually more fun to watch each plate being hand crafted to perfection. Thanks Bill and Staff!!

It’s always such a treat to eat here! The food is insanely delicious, of the highest quality and perfectly plated! I’ve run into the Chef/owner shopping for his daily menus at local farms - so you know it’s fresh! I also love the “open view” kitchen. Most restaurants don’t want customers to see inside the kitchen. Not only is it wonderful to see masters at their work but I imagine it is just as gratifying for Chef and the entire crew to see us, the customers, relishing each bite! Superb, always.

James On Main, what can I say about James On Main. Best food I've had. That being said this is my first venture into a more fine dining atmosphere because I never thought it would be worth the price but that just isn't true. Beginning with the starters, the burrata dish that I ordered was fantastic, best burrata I've ever had. It was creamy and the persimmon and raisins was a great addition to the burrata. My wife had the mushroom bisque which was another home run. It wasn't just mixed together, they put thought I to this bisque and layered everything throughout the cup to give you a great experience with every spoonful. I don't need to say a lot bout the second course because it will speak for it's self. The confit crispy duck that my wife has was amazing and so was so pork belly with soy that I had. Both perfectly done. If you know what those are you can just imagine. Our entrees were also not there to disappoint. I had the duck breast and my wife had the ribs. The duck breast was so tender and juicy it's something that I couldn't ever cook the way they did, and I am pretty good in the kitchen. The ribs my wife had I didn't get to try but she said we're top notch. At the end of the day would I eat there again, yes. I now have a better understanding of the more fine dining experience and will definitely say it was worth the money. The one downside I will say is they do not have any beer which seems like a missed opportunity with one of the better breweries around right across the street. Maybe a collaboration exclusive beer?

We had an excellent experience at James on Main. We did the 7 course tasting menu. The portions were the perfect size and the flavors were layered and complex. Jen our waitstaff was attentive and respectful. They even called us ahead of time to let us know they had a slight change in one of the courses which was a nice courtesy. Highly recommend!

Under Covid restrictions they have limited capacity into the restaurant and now have a $95 Prix Fix menu for a 6 course meal, 2 provided by chef and 4 that you pick from the available options. To someone who has never been here it may seem expensive but when I say it's worth it, it is 100% without a doubt worth it!! The Chef is amazing and that's an understatement. I dined at James on Main on Friday, January 1, 2021 and the meal and service were phenomenal! The pictures attached are the courses me and my dining partner had. We had clean plates after every course and couldn't wait for the next one. Each course was just as amazing as the previous with such a balanced and unique flavor profile. Each course is perfectly crafted and plated. I cannot wait to come again and try more of the Chef's fabulous meals. It is BYOB but they do have a small selection of wines for bottle purchase at reasonable prices which pair well with the courses available. This place will not disappoint and exceed all expectations!!

Had a really good dinner. Everything was really great and the service was great. Kinda wish there were a few more options on the menu. I will definitely be returning.
