Great food and neat atmosphere but service is always awful!! With the large selection of restaurants around the area I'll stick to this place for a beer and other places for food.
Best chicken sandwich in town. I order daves kickin chicken sandwich every time I go.
And they have pool tables and sell gnarly barely Korova milk porters.

Cute place, excellent service, great food. House margarita is just ok though. Fried catfish & white bean special excellent, blackened shrimp salad was good, just a little weird having canned mushrooms on it. Blue cheese dressing is house made and awesome! Would've tried the black and blue burger with fries but like so many other places, the fries come from frozen and its just not worth the risk the of wheat and preservatives that usually accompany frozen fries.

We stopped in this cute place and were quickly greeted, our server was very polite and made sure we had everything. The food was superb! If we ever go through Hammond again we will defiantly stop again.
One of the Best In Town!!. I have been going to The Mariner's Inn since the 80's...and I have always loved the relaxing atmosphere, great service and their fantastic appetizers, burgers and huge baked potatoes with all the trimmings. I love taking friends and family here to be able to chill out and eat hearty. This has always been and will always be one of my favorite restaurants in town! :D
Everything was fabulous. All fresh. Ranch dressing is awesome, delicious baked potatoes. Blackened tuna was like heaven as well as the blackened shrimp alfredo pasta! No complaints. Seat yourself with good service. It's a relaxed atmostphere so sit order and chill for a bit while you wait. Definitely coming back!!
Great food, great atmosphere. This has been a consistently great place for lunch or dinner for the past 12 years I've lived in the area. It's where we bring friends from out of town and where my family goes for special occasions or just a relaxing night out. It has a laid back, relaxing atmosphere indoors or out on the patio. The staff is always friendly and the food is always great tasting and a great value. Try it and you’ll become a regular.
I love mariners, but the past couple times we have gone service is terrible. I expect my server to smile dangit, not look ticked off that I sat down (knowing that we are over tippers). I wait tables and fake a smile/personality EVERY shift! If I can do it you can to ;)
Excellent casual dining.. You can't beat $8 for a steak meal on Wednesdays. Charlotte is the best waitress in Hammond, and the entire wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food is always consistent and delicious. Sometimes the service can be a tad slow, but it's worth the wait if you are not pressed for time. Mariner's has character - and characters - that you can't get anywhere else in this college town.
Tyler was our server... He has a great attitude, knowledgeable and the food is great. Eat at Mariners you won't regret it! Great prices... Cold beer and good food!
I just love it! I've been a patron since high school and it's my favorite place to go. Sure it's got some great nights and not so great nights but after 30+ years I've been there enough to see it all. Definitely more great than not so great. Whether in a tux or shorts I always feel welcome. Mushroom burger medium with fries and cold Heineken!!!!!
Mariners is the best in Hammond to relax and hang out. EXCEPT from 7-11 on Friday nites when that band plays.
Good place where the locals eat a burger. Mariners is a great place to stop by and get a burger. The kickin chicken sandwich is good as well and they have great hot wings. The steak special "mate" for 9.99 is a good deal but dont expect it to be the "best steak in town". It is decent and a good deal for the price. If you are picky about your steak and expect a Ruth Chris quality for $9, try the burger. A nice atmosphere with entertainment occasionaly. A great place to stop and grab a bite to eat for those who just think life is too short to eat fast food.
In response to the "a mothers worst nightmare" review.. I was there that night, and NONE of those girls even had payment on them. After the police came, they ALL had to return to their cars to get money. I felt bad for the poor waitress for the way they treated her!!
Going downhill!. Mariners is one of my favorite restaurants, but lately the service has been terrible! every time i order an appetizer we end up getting it within minutes of our entree. the burgers and wings are the best!
Best casual atmosphere in Hammon. This will become your favorite dive. Freindly service that makes you feel at home. Great Food and Prices. Best Atmosphere in town- indoors or on the outdoor covered patio. Relaxing place to meet freinds or bring the family. Daily lunch specials are always creative and satisfying without being pretentious. Well established privately owned place which is a welcome change from the cookie cutter chain restuarants.
Good Food. Bisques are one of my favorite types of soup and I wish more restaurants would have them. Mariner's has one and it's wonderful. I got some sort of seafood pasta here - either shrimp or crawfish - and it was excellent too. I've been here a couple of times and while I did have slow service once, I never encountered anything terrible.
UPDATE: My most recent visit was disappointing, even though I ordered something I'd ordered before. I guess consistency is iffy: it can be great, or meh.
Kickin' Chicken. Lived in Hammond for almost 10 years and I frequented Mariner's almost once a week. Great chicken sandwich (Kickin Chicken) and the burgers/baked potato combo would fill two people up.
Nice atmosphere and bar. Pool tables and music almost nightly.
It a great hang-out place for a smaller town like Hammond. It compares to Port O Call in New Orleans.
Great burger and cheese fries. Service was great, my drink never went below half empty. The waitresses were very nice. The only knock on the place was that the food took a bit to arrive, but in their defense, the place was packed.
Lucky. We have happened to stop at Mariner 3 times in 10 years. All by chance. The 2nd and 3rd times thinking "Didn't we stop here before?" I won't forget again. Good burgers, cold beer, and awesome onion rings.
The Best Northshore Buffalo Wings. Drink some beer and eat the best wings around. Hands down authentic Buffalo wings. Inexpensive, served hot and fresh, Service is great. People are friendly. Go now.

It'll Do the Trick. Great place to stop for lunch! I stopped into Mariner's on a beautiful day and sat outside. The inside is a bit dark and dive-ish. Casual attire is fine! The service is prompt and the menu is diverse. I had a shrimp po-boy and liked the shrimp... the bread was a bit small and it only came with lettuce, onion and pickles. The fries are great! My husband recommends the burger- they top their burgers with shredded cheese. Yum!
Wings. Mariner's Inn is a great place to sit back, talk and have the number one service be handed to you. Their Buffalo wings are out of this world, my mom and I have a tradition to go eat their wings every time she comes to town.

A really good experience. Outdoor meal with a live band. The food was fresh and hot, the servers were nice and helpful. Especially Amanda! Eating at the restaurant is 100x better than getting it to go. I had the crawfish meat pies, and a softshell crab po-boy. 10/10. I also got to try the Thai Tuna, and the flavor from the sauce makes it worth every dollar.
This has been a long standing establishment that I took way too long to try out. It's not very fancy, but cozy and unique. The important part is the food seems to be VERY consistent...something often overlooked in reviews. The wings might be the best in town, get them "extra crispy". Best cheese fries around town as well. Small outdoor patio with a band from time to time.

I had the shrimp platter with house salad and fries. Everything I had was delicious perfectly cooked and seasoned. Drinks were good and strong at not a bad price. Only thing that kinda bothered me was lack of being checked on. Kinda like my regular drink not to be empty too long but that's just my opinion.
Charming place
I stopped in to get a burger to go @ around 11 pm...and had a beer while I waited. Ordered and paid 25 bucks( tip included) for a cheeseburger with sauteed onions and mushroom, cooked medium, and Sweet potatoes fries... when I got home, found well done cheese burger w/ nothing on it
I had the Blackened Grilled Chicken entree and it was AMAZING! Their house salad is the best house salad I’ve ever had.
My husband had the Hot Strips (appetizer) tossed in Buffalo Sauce and he loved it!
Our daughter ate more fries from this restaurant than any other we’ve been to! Definitely will go again!! We have lived in Hammond for 4 years and have never been to it. Can’t believe we’ve waited so long! Definitely our new favorite restaurant!
Also, the honey mustard was amazing!
