This is a very surprising hole-in-the-wall place that I'm glad came up in a Yelp search as I was touring the area. I really loved that the place was unpretentious and looked like it was family-run. The service was good and the food is all laid out in trays so you can see what you'll be getting when you order. The Caribbean food here is not fancy but it's good and prices are quite reasonable for the portion size. Only thing you have to be careful about is the way they cut the bone-in chicken can lead to bone fragments in the food, so it may not be for everyone.
Unique place with great food. This place is a great alternative to all the run-of-the-mill fried chicken places in the area. The food is inexpensive, of good quality, and served quickly. I've been here several times and tried a variety of things but my favorite is the jerk chicken with red beans and rice. The mac and cheese is very good, but I get plantains when they are available. The green beans are good too and don't seem to be out of a can. If the jerk chicken isn't spicy enough for you, try dabbing on a little of Matouk's hot sauce found in a jar on the counter by the register. It's made fresh and can vary from visit to visit, but it's generally pretty darn hot. When I get an order to go, I put about a 1/2 teaspoon on the rice and mix it in. It's usually enough to make me reach for a tissue. The staff is friendly and the shop is clean with a casual atmosphere. There are also some vegetarian items on the menu now. This place offers a cuisine unlike anything else I've found on the Peninsula, so check it out if you're feeling a little adventurous.

Very friendly staff, well lit line cafe atmosphere, and the food is phenomenal.
It's as if I was invited over to their house and this is what's for dinner. The food and staff provide a warm and welcoming experience. The chicken falls off the bone. For about $20 we got two large meals (entrée and two sides). Chicken stew has great flavor depth, curry is mild yet flavorful, BBQ is sweet and spicy, and the jerk chicken was legit. Sides range from plantains, two different rice, Mac n cheese, etc.
I definitely found my luncheon watering hole.
The food here was amazing. I got oxtail and goat and my boyfriend got the bbq jerk chicken. These are big portions! We will be back! My only complaint was that the air condition was down they had the doors open and fans on but it was a very hot day.
Went there for the first time today with my fiance. Service was good. Food was excellent. Will definitely recommend this place to all those that I know in Va. Great homemade food. Doesn't feel generic. Authentic Trini food. Best I've had so far. Will go back very soon. ☺😊
I guess the restaurant now is called Lion of Judah. Anyways, everyone was very friendly. As soon as I walked in it reminded me of home. Out of all the Carribbean/West Indian retauraunts in this area this is my favorite. Food was flavorful and tender. I ended up getting curry chicken, rice and two roti skins. I was pleasantly suprised. This place was great and can't wait to go back. Great food you won't be disappointed.
South Florida native recently moved to the area and I'm very impressed! My husband and I are carribean food critics but the food and service were above our standards! This place is awesome, can't wait to try again!
Delicious! I'm definitely recommending this place. We never even knew it existed until we googled Caribbean food in hampton va. Definitely coming to this spot at least once a week.
This is an AWESOME restaurant! The owners make you feel "at home," and the food is authentic and YUMMY! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
