If it was possible, I would give this restaurant 10 out of 5 stars! This restaurant is truly a gem in Helen, GA and a MUST DO!! The service was wonderful, our waiter Elliot gave us wonderful recommendations and made sure we had a great experience. Truly everyone at this establishment was fantastic. And don’t even get me started on the food! You can tell there is a lot of time and effort put into every dish. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! The owner/Master Chef of the restaurant was very kind and is passionate about what he does. Also the music was so fun and light-hearted. Daniel was playing that evening and he added a little bit of magic to the already wonderful atmosphere. All in all, this restaurant will hold a special place in our hearts and if you are in Helen, you HAVE to come here! :)
Good food. Pretzel served with cold beer cheese, but was good. Had the German sampler for two, which was fair. Nothing to rave about, but it was good. We did not eat the two slabs of beef, but the schnitzel and smoked pork chops were above the rest.
Service was fast and great, especially for a busy Saturday night.
Very nice server. Outside and inside seating. Many tables outside, covered. Food was pretty good overall for this town. Juicy sausage. Beef w/ horseradish sauce was great. Fries were great. Great beer!
This is a real deal, small town, family owned, authentic German restaurant with one of the best French Onion soups I’ve ever tasted!
We came in with a party of 15 with no notice and the owner opened up the second dining room for us instead of having us wait. She took our drink order and turned on some music for us. We were also helped by multiple other staff members in addition to our server. The food was delicious!
After the meal the owner gave all the kids in our party a little surprise and insisted a few of us adults have an after meal toast.
This was the best hospitality experience I’ve had in many years.
You’re doing yourself a disservice if you visit Helen and don’t eat here.
Brought the family down to Helen for Christmas lights and shopping. The first 2 store owners I asked about food recommendations said “Bodensee!”, so we had to give it a shot. When we got there the line was out the door. Good sign number 1. Despite short staffing, which has become commonplace, the staff is very efficient in moving food and customers. I had the house sampler (I think it was called. 2 sausages and smoked pork chop with potato salad and sauerkraut.) The wife had goulash and the shrimp scampi. All the food was amazing! Customer service was perfect. A few ladies on staff even gave my son a toy and some candy, which made his and our night. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat!
You know when you have a meal that takes you back to your childhood and makes you want to cry? This is the most authentic German food in Helen and reminds me of when my late Omi used to cook. I come here every visit and it’s always delicious with great service. Our server James P was exceptional tonight. Highly recommend!
This place is outstanding. The meat is very rich, and you'll want to share the sampler plate rather than have one yourself. The potato pancakes are super well done, with a nice crisp but creamy middle.
Chose to eat here because it seemed to have the best reviews of all German diners in Helen. The staff was very friendly and the decor is nice and fits the theme well. The food is good but not great, I’ve had better jaegerschnitzel elsewhere so I was expecting a little better. However, it’s a fun place and probably worth a visit if you’re looking for a wide variety of German food options.
