This place was a really nice treat after a round of golf. The pulled pork was cooked well, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. HOWEVER. The SAUCES were incredible. We will definitely be back to try more of a variety in the future!

Son in law requested an outside table due to having family from out of state with a dog. Place was busy. Name got called but girl misunderstood about dog issue. Had to wait another 20 minutes. Finally offered us the 2 picnic tables but waitress was not in a hurry to clean them. Owner came out & we requested tables on porch. Asked if we could put 2 of them together. He refused. They were regular tables & chairs. Finally got to place our order. Waitress was friendly & available. My burger came out burnt. After verifying we my party it was burnt. Requested another one in place of it. Waitress states " I don't know if we can do that." Hubby told her to bring another one out & we would pay for them both. 3 members of our party ordered turkey clubs. The sandwiches arrived without bacon & it was not from turkey they smoked, but deli turkey. Had the grit balls-- delicious!! Onion straws were delicious too.!! Oh yes did get a replacement burger that was cooked perfectly & was only charged for one. Hubby had burnt ends which were good just a bit to spicy.We went on a Sunday after picking apples, so they were busy.
Visited late afternoon on a Friday in October. Sat on the porch. Very nice waitress with long blonde hair. Wish I could remember her name as she took great care of us. She suggested the Cuban sandwich and collards and my husband loved it. I had the chopped chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was all delicious. Their own variety of BBQ sauced are also delicious. Wish I had taken pics of the food. We will be back!
Wow the BBQ was cooked perfectly tender. Brisket sandwich with burnt ends and collards were sooooo good. The platter is plenty enough for 2 people. Cheese bacon grits and Mac & cheese woah 😊
The wait was 15 min but worth it.
Put our name down as Wendy the Great and made a ton of people smile coming and going. The host even thanked us for gracing the place with our presence. BAHAHAHAHA! It's contagious 🤪
We went here for our 1st visit and will be back. I had a pizza my wife had BBQ. Also wife had strawberry pie said it was delicious. The price was reasonable and the service was excellent. The place is very clean and you can sit outside if you prefer.
Dined here for lunch today for the first time. I had the Pulled Smoked Pork Platter with Baked Smoked Beans & Sweet Potato Fries as the sides and my husband got the Piggy Mac Hot Skillet with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. Everything was delicious and decent sized portions. Though the atmosphere was a bit loud & it was very crowded, I'm sure we will be back!
Good meats and salads, decorations in the side room inspired a sense of safety. Ordered the Brussel sprout pizza and tried to make it vegan, which ended up great if you're into BBQ sauce. The vegan burger was the most expensive item on the menu, May order the wagyu burger and sub in eggplant to save money next time 😆
Had a great experience! I was passing through the area and found it via google search. Jennifer was our waitress and she was great! The food was ordered and came out promptly. The food was delicious. Possibly some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Pizza was delicious as well. I would highly recommend and if I find myself passing through the area again I will certainly be back by.
We were visiting Carl Sanburg's home and wanted to eat at a local place rather than a chain. Loved the smell of this wood fired restaurant. Loved at variety on the menu, not just standard, everybody else has this, fare. Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere. Recommended it to others as a destination even though we live an hour away. We will be going back.
Visiting the area with family for New Years Eve weekend. Pick up some take out for dinner.Good food, good portions,reasonable prices. I would recommend guving it a try and would certainly return when in the area.
Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a bar available for adult beverages should the mood strike.
It is also brightly lit. I like that. No dim lighting. You can really get a good look at what you are eating. Which is nice.
Delicious food. My husband had the Brisket with collard greens. He said both were fantastic. I had pulled pork with grits. It was yummy! Plan to come back! Lovely porch for a excellent meal.
This is the first review I've ever written, because this place was that good. Everything my wife and I got was amazing. I mentioned to our waitress that I had just had the best chili of my life, and soon after the owner/ cook pulled up a chair and chatted with us. We are from Boston, but if ever back down here we will certainly be returning
Great people, and FANTASTIC food
The Brisket burt ends platter was absolutely perfect. Succulent, tender with just the right amount of crispy 'burnt' bits. Served with 2 sides and cornbread; I promise you will not go away hungry. Cute lil place worth the stop. Coming for the pizza next time!
This place is very popular with locals and can be crowded. It's in an old building that adds charm. It's very clean and the staff is friendly. Service is good. They have a wonderful covered outdoor deck. People in Western North Carolina like their style of BBQ. We're from Texas and didn't like it. We also thought it was a bit overpriced. $13.50 for a sandwich with one side. If you like WNC-style BBQ then you'll love this place. Very easy to see - it's right on the edge of the road. Just not impressed with the food. Plenty of pulled pork, but it was fatty. $16 for platter and two sides. Boring baked beans. Cornbread is like sponge cake. Sorry. We love good BBQ but won't be back here.
Great place with tasty BBQ. The sauces were delicious. The portion sizes were large and the price of our meal was worth every penny. The Mac N Cheese needed a bit more salt but was the right amount of cheese overall.
I don’t leave many reviews, but this place was VERY good. Visiting from out of town, so bummed I won’t be able to go frequently. Everything we had was very good, the food came out so fast. And quite literally, these were the best ribs I’ve ever had in my LIFE.
Katie our server was amazing. Best brisket ever. We shared the Sampler Extreme Platter King Size and Piggy Mac Skillet with 4 cheese macaroni and cheese, pulled smoked pork, competition Sauce, crispy buttery bread crumbs, and torched cheddar cheese topper with green scallions - WOW!
We came up for the day to eat and shop. Omg the pretzel pig appetizer was amazing so delicious. And my shrimp and grits omg in a cream BBQ sauce with sausage. Omg so good.
