Highwood has another quality place to grab a bite to eat and our favorite place is right next door!....in fact Marco and Toad made it easy to come and go between Marco's Northside and Toad's with the addition of entrance between the two!....Heads up thinking by staples of the community. Great job Marco and looking forward to spending many visits and enjoying your quality menu in the immediate future!
Marco is a great guy and the food is unbelievable. Gotta love the Black Angus burger (which has brisket ground in with the beef!) Beer selection was nice and reasonably priced. They made a good choice by letting folks order food and pass through next door to the Toadstool. Can't wait to go back! :)

Delicious neighborhood spot! I love their chicken sandwich, fried mushrooms and the lobster bisque soup is the Best I've ever had! Highly recommended.
Just what Highwood needed! Great burgers awesome wings ( I highly recommend them with his famous barbecue sauce ). And the shrimp are huge. You can dine there or go to the toad stoolpub and eat there with a great cocktail ! Marcos is a grand slam !

Amazing food! I haven't been able to get there in person yet but was lucky to have a friend bring me when I was sick. Such great soup. Can't wait to get there in person. Knowing Marco the atmosphere must be so fun!!!

This was our first time visiting this outstanding restaurant, and it won’t be the last time. Upon entering this checkerboard table clothed room, you get the feel of an old country cafe. The menu is simple but complete for many different tastes. Since it was our first time, we ordered their house Black Angus burger and French fries. They were delicious and juicy! We loved the fresh cut, skin on French fries.
Whiles waiting for our food we enjoyed a cocktail generously poured. As a treat Marco brought us a wonderful sample of their shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce and horseradish. It was a jumbo size shrimp and it was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back for their shrimp cocktail.
As we drank and ate the restaurant started to get busy, which we were happy to see.
Marco’s Northside Grill is definitely a real find, take it from a former chef and restaurant critic.
I hear that there is outside seating under a tent in the rear and some seating in the front. This little place should be put on your must try list. When you go there, tell them that Barry sent you.

I'm local and have been coming to Marco's since the beginning! Lately they've been adding specialty items like the Italian sausage (pictured). Incredibly delicious and made to order! On Sundays you can also enjoy beignets and coffee! And must have for folks that want something sweet! Please support Marco as the pandemic has really bogged them down. You won't be disappointed with your meal! This sausage was the best I've had on the North Shore and completely beats out the sausage from Sarkis.
This is an awesome place to grab a quick bite or sit and hang out and enjoy some drinks. $3 beer specials was a pleasant surprise and the service was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to us and we will be coming back again! Highly recommend!

Flew in from Dallas and needed to feed my "Flesh Prison". My son found this place. Guy's the food is great the bartender was great. I had the New Orleans Chicken Sandwich with fries. Ordered a Mutiny IPA 6.2. Get to Chicago go to Marco's!!!!!
If you were to ask me, in my opinion, Marco’s Northside Grill is a great choice when deciding on a place to eat when in Highwood, IL. Everything is cooked fresh, made to order, and tastes delicious. The fries are blanched, homemade, and the best you have ever had. I have tried a variety of their options, and have never been disappointed. The fried mushrooms are my favorite. Marco’s is one of the finest restaurants I have patronized in a long time… My only regret, is there aren’t enough Marco’s. But thank God there is as least one. Whenever in Highwood, Marco’s Northside Grill will always be my first choice. I absolutely love it.
Excellent mushroom soup and I went with the Marco burger, servered on Texas toast instead of a hamburger bun and onion rings. All was very good and friendly staff too!
Wonderful food, we got there just before close and Eileen was so nice, Marco took time to talk to us about origins of the menu. Was a great evening and will definitely come back, highly recommended.
Hands down the BEST French Onion soup I have ever had!!!! The burger was outstanding and the service impeccable. I've eaten there many times before, but never posted a review. I can assure you, however, if I had posted a review each time, they would have all expressed the same sentiment as this one. If you have not yet gone to Marco's... GO! You will not be disappointed!
The food was very delicious. The service was excellent. They give a military discount of 10%, which is always amazing. The inside has a fun and cozy feel, and the outside seating was nice. When I went it wasn't too busy and the food was out quick. From what I have heard the food quality and speed stays the same even if it does get busy. So overall a great place for any occasion or family/group.
You can’t find a better burger anywhere else. I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere and attention to detail. Always remember to order the cheese curds.
Best burgers on the north shore.They have great sandwiches and amazing shrimp bisque soup. Friendly and very cool with. Marco often comes out to talk to customers. Laid back atmosphere. Really great place all around.

I’ve been to Marco’s Northside Grill many times and it never disappoints. From sitting in his tent outside, to the live the music, to sitting at the bar and to enjoy Marco’s presence himself is a great treat. The food is phenomenal and makes my mouth water even thinking about it. Trust me you will not be disappointed! A door county delight with that new orleans touch! Grab an Abita beer (purple haze) it’s literally the only place you can get it!

Marco's is a great local spot with a great Navy story to tell. Great spot to take your recent Navy bootcamp grad! - they'll love the taste of "real" food! Make it something special after the 1st time in 10 weeks (inc 2wk Covid quarantine) of base food
Marco's Northside Grill has both excellent food and atmosphere. Beyond that, Marco himself is a great guy and a gracious host. My wife and I are foodies and this restaurant serves outstanding food, which is hard to come by especially at corporate chain restaurants, which Marco's most certainly is not. Highly recommend!!
