The outdoor seating was nice. The food was good but not amazing. The staff were super friendly and patient. They are not knowledgeable on dietary restrictions such as gluten and dairy. The ladies thought rice had gluten and didn't know soy sauce did.
Today was my first time coming here... I was in the neighborhood and decided to drop by and try something new. I ended up getting the pork adobo, and it was soooo good and the prices were all very reasonable, especially given the portion size. I will definitely be going back!
K's drive inn has been around a very long time, long before my time. But the food is timeless. I usually get the loco loco, which in my opinion is the best in town. I highly recommend for an authentically Hilo experience.

Very simple, cheap food. Hard to go wrong when pretty much everything is in the $7-9 range and it all tastes good. Fast service and outdoor seating here. The sauteed ono could've passed for sit-down restaurant quality, so it's not all dive-y kinda food either!
What a local would have I guess. Korean Chicken and Loco Moco was good! A bit on the salty side for me though. Friendly staff and cheap! Finally.. Im not getting ripped off as a tourist.
26-May-2019 - Second visit. Still awesome.
K's is an old school Hawaiian drive in. They got all the classics. I got the Loco Moco and was not disappointed.
Classic local menu. Fair pricing. It seems like the plates are getting smaller lately but the ice cream is still on point. Best floats and double flavored twists around.
Some of my friends know me as "B-U-T-A", which means in Japanese as "PIG". Yeah, I LOVE to eat, as the saying goes, You eat to live. But I live to eat. Always have been. And K's is the kind of place I've always "HANG OUT". I LOVE the old mustard/mayonnaise yellow sauce on the hamburgers, lunchrooms, okazuyas, saimin stands and of course Drive-Inns. And as MANY people know, there has been MANY drive inns in the past, and most of them have since closed. I am ecstatic that we still have places like K's. It's nothing fancy, just good old "solid" grinds. Portions have always been good, taste has always been good, prices have always been good, and selection has always been good. Hard to beat yeah? Whooo.
Came here after a friend recommended their ice cream, while tasty it was a little too sweet for me.
Ended up also getting their Loco Moco and macaroni salad. Both were very good.
Staff is friendly and service is pretty fast. Lots of food options with great prices.
Shrimp burger was small but satisfying for a snack at 8pm!
Ask for extra crispy fries! ONO(delicious)

I love da workers they are really friendly and I cud see dat dey all get along with each other which is a good thing. If u can't work with someone it makes da atmosphere heavy nd dark, but this place is warming nd I wud definitely recommend it to ppl...
Excellent fries, crispy but soft in the middle. Pineapple twist cone had excellent flavor that was sweet and tangy. T here chicken katsu is excellent too.
KS DRIVE INN affordable delicious tasting local foods been around for years a staple in our community this plate is crunchy korean fried chicken , soaked in delicious juicy sause and all fries other option available is with rice and macaroni salad priced right at ten dollars go get some✔️
This food so good I forgot to take one picture before I started to eat! Serious good food, good prices!
Classic local style Hawaiian fast food. They'll tell you a thing or two about comfort food.
I enjoy going to "K'S" Drive Inn because their large selection of specials & local food options makes it possible to have something for all ages, large or small appetites & different budgets & dietary needs. They do sub out rice & mac salad to all toss salad for those who are diabetic or on keto restrictions. Besides their food is good. The service is friendly & cheerful. Give them a try.
Ordered their short ribs plate. It was very tasty and soft specially made for the elderly.👍
Stopped at this place on a humbug after the whole family got off the plane and Hilo and we're famished. It would have been cheaper to go to the grocery store and take food back to the BRBO and cook but hunger and a desire for local fairs persuaded us. I had the beef teriyaki it was delicious my daughter had the chicken plate it was so so we tasted this Saturday special Portuguese bean soup which actually had ham in Portuguese sausage in it it was tasty enough. The burgers and fries were good for the kids but the burgers were a little small for the adults. Met local people who are nice the staff was very good at explaining all the different options on the menu and overall it was a great experience. I love my food not so sure about everyone else it was pretty average for them but I would return.
Good drip coffee, loco local food. Been round for years. Try the Cheese and gravy burger with tomato and bacon. ;) Delicious treat. Enjoy. -- Loco Moco with side of Mac salad, under $5.
