We went here during lunch as a party of 13. We were able to find some tables outside. The outdoor seating is covered so you're protected from sun and rain. The servers came right out and got us started with drinks. They were back shortly after to take food orders and the food came out quickly. Everything was delicious. If you're looking for some great New York style deli sandwiches in Hilton Head, this is the place.
Gruby's New York Deli is an authentic New York deli with delicious sandwiches. We visited twice this week. I shared two sandwiches on our first encounter: a Roast Beef sandwich with beautifully rare meat on fresh rye and a "twin towers" sandwich with paper thin corned beef and pastrami on rye with thousand Island dressing and coleslaw. This one was so good we scheduled a second trip and I ordered a "huge" twin towers that time. A huge sandwich has TWICE the meat. While it was a bit messy it was awesome. My wife had a NY Ruben (also with corned beef and pastrami) and loved it. The deli is hidden in a little shopping center between Dollar Tree and Fresh Market.
Wish we had found this Deli when we arrived on HHI. But happy we had an opportunity to enjoy a lunch before we head home. Can't understand the poor ratings. We had matzo ball soup, a hot cornbeef with swiss on rye and a combo cornbeef with chopped liver. Both sandwiches were excellent,what you would expect at a good Jewish Deli. Soup was tasty too. Service was good as well. Took a slice of cheese cake home glad we did. If you enjoy NY deli food you should give Gruby's a try.
This is the #2 specialty sandwich, it was truly amazing . It was loaded and I enjoyed every bite. My hubby got a Reuben and said it was the best one he has ever had.
We were headed to Charleston from Savannah and stopped in here. The staff is great.
Food was amazing! Got the Mardi Gras’s sandwich. Shared a huge with my bf and it was enough to feed us both. Cole slaw is usually a hit or a miss for me but theirs was really good. Also got the Latkes and they tasted super fresh . Order came out pretty fast as well.
This is a MUST EAT!!!! Everything was super fresh and delicious here. Very welcoming crew and a good looking group of guys! The bagels were the best I have had since visiting New York! You have to try this spot, it will be your new favorite !!!

Food was ok. Our waiter told us we could sit anywhere we wanted and when we chose by the window he was kinda upset with us. This was our first time here and we didn't know nor were we told that when we were done eating we needed to go up to the counter and tell our table number to pay. We kept waiting for the bill to be brought not knowing this. Also not sure how we were supposed to know we sat at table 1 🤷. There was only one server trying to take care of the entire restaurant which ended up filling up while we were there so refills and anything else you might need during your meal was a no go. Also never got the juice that was supposed to come with the kids meal we ordered and since the server never came back we had to share our drinks with the kiddo. So ya the food was pretty much the only good thing about our visit.
I loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious. I got the ham, egg, and cheese on a kaiser bun.
Omg what an amazing breakfast! I'm so glad we couldn't get into The Stack/Stacks. We would've missed the Big Bambino! The fruit on the waffle were incredibly fresh and large size. Home fries were a home run! Every bite was devine!
