Dining at Duc’s Bistro in Honolulu’s Chinatown is an unforgettable experience in casual elegance, delicious food, and warm hospitality... Let’s start with that hospitality, because that is what stands out above all else at Duc’s. Enter the front door, and the atmosphere is clean, modern and inviting, highlighted with tasteful pink ambient lighting and crisp white table clothes. Once seated, you will likely be greeted by Duc himself, who will make you feel so welcome that it is almost as if he has been waiting a very long time to meet you.
Love, love, love Duc's Bistro...Duc is a gracious host and the food is divine!
Thank you Monsieur Duc!. I have eaten at this fantastic restaurant several times and never took the time to review it. Now that I have moved off the island, it's time to pay back. This is my favorite restarant on the island and the food, atmosphere and welcome that we get from Monsieur Duc has been one of my favorite experiences. The food: Shrimp Curry, Lamb and all of the Duck, is amazing. The drinks are refreshing and delicious. I have, and will continue to recommend this restaurant to everyone who asks me that question: "Where should I eat in Honolulu?" Thanks for everything, particularly for always remembering us and always making us feel welcome. -Sean
Wonderful staff. Owner is incredibly nice and attentive. We had the experience and food of a lifetime here.
A great find. This Bistro has really accomplished something...a great atmosphere contrasting pastels and black and white photos of rice fields in Vietnam. Amazing food--the shredded green papaya salad is truly memorable, the lamb chops, the tofu...all of it, from start to finish was fantastic. If you're in a big group, let Duc order for you family-style (let him know how many vegetarians), and the meal just happens. You will be impressed with the food, so happy with the bill, and will love Hawaii even more when you leave...
Duc’s has been around since the early 90’s. It’s an upscale viet/French bistro and everything on menu is great. This little China town joint has survived the test of time. You can expect the namesake, Duc, to greet you at the table most nights. He’s a nice guy with great food. Definitely a great spot for a nice dinner.
You can not ask for better service. Duc makes you feel like you're eating in his home for dinner. Small menu and everything was cooked and presented to perfection. Nice mix of vietnamese and french that is hard to find this good. Great recommendation for the eggplant side, probably the best I've had. It's more of a family style sharing, so you can order a bunch of dishes and share.
My boyfriend and I had dinner here last night for the first time and it was great! I liked the decor and ambiance, service was amazing, and the food was delicious!
Started with the escargot and a ginger martini, both of which I would recommend! For dinner the fish (opakapaka) and lamb were recommended and that's what we had. Delicious! And although quite full, we got the tapioca and there wasn't a trace of it left when we were done.
I've lived here my whole life, no clue why its taken me so long to eat here, but very glad I finally did!
What a wonderful evening--from the simple and elegant interior, to the authentic delicious cuisine, Duc's Bistro delivers. Don't miss your opportunity...you must have reservations so call ahead as it may take a few days. They book up fast. The steamed fish of the day with fresh ginger was sublime. Fresh and perfectly cooked. Again reflecting the simple and elegant theme.
I grew up in hawaii but have had the chance to travel the world including spending a lot of time in France. Duc’s is as good as they come — perfectly executed French and Vietnamese food with a local home feel. 10/10 would recommend!
VERY IMPRESSED!!!🥰😊
We ordered 12+ dishes here and not even egatratinh slightly, impressed with every single one of them.
Not only the taste/flavor and quality of food is 5 star, also the service and the presentation is 5 star!
Lobster Bisque:
I am not easily impressed with lobster bisque but this one is subtle, light, and the chunks of lobster are perfect~!
The Vietnamese Coffee here is amazing! I would highly recommend the iced version
Must Try ALL 3 of these delightful desserts;
1. Affogato ( rich, fresh espresso over mildly flavored, perfectly paired gelato)
2. Creme Brulee (salted, caramelized top !)
3. Coconut & banana tapioca pudding (beautiful combination)
I was introduced to this restaurant by my friend Toan and I am so thankful he recommended it
Really looking forward to coming back to Ducks Bistro again~!
Duc’s is a family owned restaurant of 29 years. My fiancé and I had the pleasure of meeting and being served by the entire family during our dine in experience for my fiancés birthday. The family is just wonderful and the French-Vietnamese cuisine truly cannot be beat. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. We will absolutely be returning in the future!
Very nice French Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown Honolulu. Owned by a friendly and efficient couple. I had the lobster bisque, the steak Saigon and house Pinot Noir, all of which were very good. If you need a good place to escape Waikiki, this is a great choice.
Incredible food. Super personalized service. This is a hidden gem in an already packed food scene in Honolulu. Lovely staff who treated my large group to a divine culinary experience. Highly recommend!
Great meal/great service! An absolute treasure In Chinatown. Amazing food, incredible service, and a quaint setting.
The duck and lamb were sheer perfection!! And the desserts were super yummy.
Duc’s Bistro is incredible and I’ll keep coming back.
A co-worker and I resumed our quarterly splurge lunches … we returned to Duc’s Bistro for a quiet and peaceful lunch. Duc’s hasn’t changed and that’s welcome to us. It remains an oasis of quiet in busy Chinatown.
I started with a Hendricks gin & tonic and ordered Foie Gras, Escargot and Wagyu Beef Tartare. The foie gras came with slices of papaya and a berry compote. The escargot was served with mini loaves of warm bread and the tartare came with slices of toasted baguette. The tartare needed a touch more seasoning to me; I would have liked whole grain mustard and olive oil and/or a raw egg. The foie gras was perfectly cooked; I do not care for ripe papaya but my co-worker scarfed it up. The escargot was very good.
We ordered the duck two ways, Duck Saigon and Duck Grand Marnier. In retrospect, we should have ordered another entrée as it was too one note for me. The duck could have been slightly rarer (is that a word?); the sauces were fine but I had expected more of a difference, based upon the ingredients. The duck was served with a bowl of saffron rice; a nice counterpoint to the slices of duck. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon with my duck; perhaps a Merlot would have been a better choice.
I ended with a cup of coffee … delicious! Final thoughts … Duc’s Bistro hasn’t changed and to me that’s good. The food is very good, the prices reasonable (for what you get) and I have no issues with the service. Recommended!
Absolutely a must restaurant to go to. Food is fabulous and staff is top notch! Cozy atmosphere but yet sophisticated! One of our favorite places!
Our favorite dining when in Honolulu. French Vietnamese, family style. Fabulous wine list, many French wines. Full bar. Best escargot ever! Love green papaya salad, lobster bisque, Mekong basa fish, beef Saigon, crab cakes, lamb, and duck with Grand Marnier.
After leaving Piggy Smalls because they don’t serve Vietnamese food on the menu, mr.Duc himself greeted us out front. He runs the entire operation and him and his wife run a fabulous restaurant. Mention you park across the street and you get free parking! He’s served Hawaii for 40 years and his food and service will bring us back!!! The steak was incredible and the baguette was amazing!
Escargot and the fresh duck liver pate were out of this world. The pork belly and curry scallops bon Appétit. I will go back, nice ambiance and fantastic service.
The only thing better than the service (Duc was the highlight of a very attentive staff) is the food! Eggplant, spring rolls, green beans, chicken, and fish were all great hits.
Quality blend of vietnamese ingredients and french cooking techniques. The Basa (white fish) was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Their cocktail selection is also very good. The restaurant is on the pricy side for Chinatown.
Duck's Bistro is a quaint little restaurant in China town that serves the most delicious dishes. The service is awesome and they make you feel at home. Everything was amazing as you can see we couldn't wait to try the escargots. I would highly recommend this place.
Was here for my Sister In-laws birthday party. Foods are delicious. Love their spring rolls and salad. Onaga fish can't beat the flavor. Warm and friendly environment. Service is excellent. Deffinitely going back some other time.
