A fave spot for us, great location, fresh seafood, great staff, but the best is the live music! The combo playing Saturday 6/23 was top notch!
Nico’s is located at the Honolulu Fish Market, opposite the Nimitz Centre. It’s easy to reach from Waikiki, by catching the #19 or #20 bus. As you’d expect, the fish is super fresh ... and the cooking is pretty good to. There’s a big selection on the menu. You choose what you want, and pay, and they give you a beeoer toalert you when the food is ready. Then you find a table, inside or out, and wait till the beeper goes off. Meanwhile, soft drinks are available, with a bottomless cup deal. Prices are reasonable. I found the food good. Nico’s is worth the trip.
Nico’s was amazing and recommended by many of the local Uber and Lyft drivers. It did not disappoint. My wife and I say it is one of the best meals we have had on our honeymoon. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service impeccable.
Cannot come to Honolulu without stopping here. EVERY meal I had here has been a masterpiece. It’s not unusual for my husband and me to eat here multiple times a day. It’s really that good. Whatever the Catch of the Day is, get it! You will love it. They truly never disappoint.
Great place the food is very good service was great.. I went two days in a row just to get a different meal..
The food was incredible and just delicious. Fast super fast service and cheap. Beautiful view of merchants at dock. Friendly service a absolute MUST!!! You won’t be disappointed

Loved it. Good food and fast service Would recommend it to everyone.
1st place I hit when back in the 808 & last place I hit when I leave! Awesome food, service, setting!
Food was very good. Great presentation, tasty drinks and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it!
Always perfect for our ohana of commercial fishermen who are choosy about where we order fish... been happy with Nico's for many years,
Mahalo! ><(())*>
Great food, casual fun atmosphere with plenty of seating! A nice outdoor atmosphere with much better than Waikiki prices! Fish is always fresh and well prepared!
I went to Nico's Pier 38 to try the poke that everyone talks about. I went to the Fish Market because I needed Poke to go. Lots of choices for Poke. I had the Ultimate Poke over Brown Rice and it didn't disappoint. Fresh with lots of flavor. Try it, very delicious.
Beautiful location and amazing service!
Highlights:
My group was seated outside as the sun was setting, making for beautiful views.
I did not think I would find a location with crab cakes that rivaled those found at Chart House, but Nico's Crab Cake Burger proved me wrong! Definitely worth it!
One thing I would say needs improvement is the chairs used for the outdoor seating. They're too large/deep, but adding cushions may make them more comfortable and not as awkward to sit in.
Overall a great experience; I will be back again!
Great affordable food and live music with friendly service. Can even leave with a souvenir t-shirt! It looks to me that it is built into a fish 🐟 market so seafood is fresh fresh fresh!!!
Oh my, this restaurant well worth the stop. Food was awesome. Drinks were strange but we tried most of them. Parking a little tricky but it is there if you look. They don’t start the dinner menu till 5pm but they have appetizers and drinks prior to that. So eat drink and be merry!! The server was top notch. He was very friendly and very helpful. We had the Marlin.
Great food. Highly recommend the Fisherman’s Stew and Grilled Peppercorn Swordfish.
Portions are generous.
Reasonable price.
Great service.
Good ambience with live music.
Found out about Nico's Pier 38 from a local after a swimming with the turtles excursion. Probably one of the best Poke I've ever eaten.. So fresh. We ended returning on our last day to eat again. The toppings are fantastic. Would highly recommend. We heard Tamishiro market gets their fish from here. After you buy your Poke, you can go into the dining area to eat. You can also order drinks from the bar.
5 stars 🌟
Can’t get any fresher than Nico’s, situated right at the pier where the boats come in with their catches! They offer an extensive menu to sample their local take on fresh catches of the day - don’t miss the dessert selection either in their chill case!
There’s lots of parking, with the prime spots along the road in front of the restaurant. There’s also an unpaved parking lot next to the road, although it can get full depending on how many tourists are on island.
After parking, you pick up a menu then go to the register to order and pay. You’ll be given a buzzer that tells you that order is ready, then you can seat yourselves at the table of your choice. It can get pretty crowded at lunch, so be prepared to wait if you’re. Ok’ing at peak hours.
We joined great local friends last night at Nico's Pier 38. They chose the restaurant and as it turns out, I believe that this is the same restaurant that I saw years ago on a Places to eat show on the Good Network or Travel Channel or something like that. When it first opened it was a very casual restaurant serving food in styrofoam containers. Today, it looks more upscale casual and open air. Last night there was live entertainment, a Grammy award winning singer George Kuo and he was outstanding. Beautiful guitar player and singer with a brilliant and colorful Hawaiian sound.
For dinner we shared calamari ($16), Poke Sampler ($23.50) as appetizers. We ordered Grilled Peppercorn Swordfish-Green peppercorn and five herb marinated grilled swordfish topped with sauce vierge. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and house vegetables ($26) and Furikake Pan-Seared Ahi - Fresh tuna ahi steak coated with Japanese dried seaweed and sesame seeds. Served with your choice of rice and house vegetables with our famous ginger garlic cilantro dip ($26). I had never had Swordfish before and this was a very tasty and flaky culinary creation. The calamari was prepared well and perfect. The Poke Sampler was really really good and large enough to share or to just have as a meal. The Ahi was also very tasty and prepared nicely.
For dessert we ordered a very tasty and light cheesecake....so very good. They have a case of desserts that you can pick up to go also that I passed on the way to the restroom and I think I would love to try several more desserts.
Service was as attentive as we wanted and needed, the restaurant is dog friendly as there were several families with dogs dining around us. This is a nice restaurant and nice casual attire is very welcomed. We highly recommend Nico's Pier 38. Mahalo to our wonderful friends who treated us to this amazing food and drink experience.
Im known on google for my honest reviews and here is another one. The food was very fresh and the fish was juicy and great. This place gets pretty busy so be prepared. Definitely worth going and trying and this place gets my approval. I will rate 4/5 for this place only because of 1 thing I really disliked. From maybe more than 10 thousand restaurants I've been to this place was the only place that charges 50cent extra for fountain drink refills. I don't think its a good business practice and most people don't drink more than 1 anyway but I really disliked this and have not seen even 1 restaurant in 10 thousand that I've been doing this. Otherwise Definitely recommend this place.
Saturday evening was decently crowded. We had a wait of 20 mins. We were then quickly seated at the outdoor tables.
The service was alright. For appetizers, we had the fish bites and it felt like a mixed batch of fresh and frozen/older fish pieces were served on our plate. Not impressed. The lomi tomatoes were quite tasty though.
We also had the crab cake burger with fries and it was delicious! The fries were hot 'n enjoyable!
Delightful! All of the poke and other dishes I've tried from here were amazing. Definitely go for the poke if anything. Fresh, affordable, soft, delicious :) GET GARLIC FLAKES WITH UNAGI SAUCE!! It makes the poke 100x more YUMMY
edit: decided to do dine in around 4pm since poke section was closed that day. still had a great time, best oyster shooters!
Ate as a family on our last evening in Honolulu. We sat outside and watched the boats and ships come and go or get unloaded.
The Kids got virgin drinks, we got a bloody Mary and lava flow. As appetizers we ordered fish bites and the orange chicken.
For the meal, fish & chips, grilled swordfish, spicy crab burger, shrimp scampi and a cheeseburger were ordered. We did not have to wait too long for them all to come out.
Everyone enjoyed their meal, some more than others but there were no complaints.
The food was prepared and presented well and the server was attentive.
Dope vibes for this place! I loved every minute of being in here and the food came super fast! The drinks were good too. We’ll def be back
This is my first time here on the island 🏝️ and suggested from the tour driver Shelley! The food was wonderful. First time here you're visiting from the mainland. I had the peppercorn swordfish that was made too perfection and fish bites. I will come here again when I visit if it's still available. Live music!
The food was awesome, the wait staff we super polite and personable, never felt rushed and they were happy to advise. The fisherman 's stew was well seasoned with nice sized seafood chunks. The fish bites were enough for a meal! Amazing flavors and the fish was delish (not breadedl)
With a view of the Fishing boats in the Harbor, we sat at a pretty busy cool open air bar, enjoyed good drinks and eats, bought an over-priced $8 shot glass and a $25 under-priced tee. The fresh fish and cooked take-out food bar was steady, it was mid-day, no entertainment. wam-bam thank you maim. Like to see it at on a weekend night. A bit out of the way but worth the trip.
Great food tried the poke sampler loved them all. Really enjoyed the spicy poke made with chili oil. Entrees we’re Panko encrusted swordfish with creamy crab sauce veggies and rice very good great portion.
Great place to get lunch. Plenty car park. Nice vibes with live music. Order and pay first. You will get a buzzer that will tell you when food is ready for pick up at the counter.
We tried the Pier 38 Fish burger with french fries ($15.25)and the Furikake Ahi with brown rice and green salad ($17.50). Both were very good and satisfying.
Restroom is located just across the entrance of the restaurant.
Nico's catch of the day was a well prepared and fresh tasting tombo covered in a lobster bisque. Overall, though, there wasn't much to set it apart flavorwise from the many other ahi dishes. Specialty drinks were OK, and it was unusual that they had run out of raw pineapple for the drinks. Overall, the service was fantastic and I would eat here again even though it can become quite loud.
