The food is great here. It is a bit of a hole in the wall. Street parking only. The food is fresh and served hot. I recommend this place for dim sum to everyone I know. The occasional serve from a cart when it is busy.
Spicy drunken clam, shumai, and I forget the last dish but all were super tasty. Never had a Chinese cold clam dish before but clams were so fresh and juicy and I liked that it wasn’t too salty. Just right amount of greens on top with fresh clams. Hands down the best food we had while we were in Oahu other than Poke places! The staffs were friendly and the place was very clean. Very satisfied.
Wow, loved this place. The dish that had taro was so good. They have soup dumplings too. 🥟 Definitely come here when you get a chance. Staff was friendly and nearby ready to serve more dishes. Come hungry and bring your friends and family.
Friendly employees were quick to acknowledge our presence after entering their restaurant. Wait help wear masks and the table we sat on had a sanitizer spray bottle! Dim sum were quickly served. Their manapua (bau) fillings are generous! Char siu bau, custard bau, steamed or baked are delish! They have many varieties of dim sum, beef balls, pork hash, shrimp dumplings, shrimp & vegetable half moons, mochi rice balls, chicken mochi wrapped in banana leaves so moist and tasty, chicken feet puffy and tasty, beef brisket & tendon, egg tarts and more. They don't, however, have certain dim sum such as tripe or cow's stomach. There are metered street parking payable by credit card. Across from the restaurant is a parking lot. I'm not sure how much they charge. There's also the Smith - Beretania Municipal parking garage that is only a few minutes walk away and wheelchair accessible from Ginger & Garlic. The restaurant is open from 10am to 9pm. Dim sum is usually served until 2pm. They accept credit cards. We have eaten dim sum here several times and they do not disappoint.
The taste is good, service is relatively fast, and the interior is decent but from a value perspective the portions aren’t quite worth the price. For a $20+ entree containing fish, chicken, and eggplant it was primarily 95% eggplant, and the meat dishes are enough so that you’re not hungry, but no more than that. I hear great things about the dim sum though, so would recommend you come here for that instead which may be a better value.
A great place in Chinatown Honolulu to have dim sum. The staff was friendly and quite attentive. It is almost a hole-in-the-wall restaurant compared to other prominent hall-type places where they roll out the carts. The dim sum dishes are readily available, but ordering from the menu for stirred fried noodles, etc., can be of a wait as there were many online/takeout phone orders during lunch hours.
Ginger and Garlic is one of the nice places for friends to get together over a table of good food in the convenience of Chinatown. The picture of Chinese calligraphy, the Chinese landscape paintings hanging on the walls, and the ancient Chinese styled screens on the windows, all combined together create a classical and elegant atmosphere.
Went for Dim sum. They didn't follow the State Covid regulations. They didn't ask for IDs or proof of Vaccinations or temp checks. No glass partrician at check out or 6ft spacing. The servers were wearing masks though.
That being said the food was hot and delicious. The service was fast and responsive to our needs. The prices were also very reasonable.
Pro moves @ Ginger & Garlic is clean & clean restaurant & restroom!

Honey shrimp walnut is yummy
Gong Hei Fat Choy! Came on New Years and the takeout line was super long. The shiitake dim sum was really good, shrimp dumpling and green onion pancake.
Dinner at Ginger Garlic was delicious. Ordered onion pancake and Shanghai buns as starters. Ordered a special order wintermelon with diced meat and diced Shitake Mushroom.
Tried this place since a co-worker brought some dim sum at work. It was so good. Price is just about right. Restaurant location is near public parking - so not a problem accessing the place. Price is just about right. Food very tasty. The staff was so nice to hand me a menu with picture to make sure I am ordering what I really wanted. Try it and you wont be disappointed.
Very clean place! But busy! But surprisingly got served in 15 minutes! Best tasting dim sum to eat on the city side of Honolulu! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
great dim sum and pretty much original chinese kitchen. basic chinese seating. super friendly, fast, great pricing as well.
Great service, love the atmosphere (felt very authentic) food was good, the congee was a tad bit bland but besides that everything else was delicious.
Just a little gem in Chinatown. If you're looking for a great dim sum experience, this would be one of them. Highly recommend their Malaysian Sponge Cake and Steamed Chicken Feet.
