Breadshop is the bakery of my dreams. 💖 We especially love the furikake flatbread and morning buns at my home, but we usually get the variety box because it's all so dang good! The kind employees are attentive to my household's ingredient allergies.
In Manhattan, the only bakeries that ~may~ be similar caliber are always spilling lines out the door. So, whenever I am in Kaimuki, I always pre-plan to have Breadshop as soon as possible.
My only complaint is that I am now mildly disappointed by other bakeries, where I used to be satisfied... Breadshop just raised the bar!
Ignore the folks who say their baked goods were "burnt", they don't seem to know what an egg wash on pastries or a well developed crust is! I will pay a premium for this quality and variety any day. If you can get a handle on the preorder, the anticipation of waiting for these goodies makes getting that box all the more sweet. I have yet to find a bakery that can incorporate local flavors with western European flair so well. Get it while it's hot!
I am currently eating the focaccia and was inspired to write a review. All of their baked goods are excellent. Unparalleled. Best on the island.
You have to order online, even at the storefront. I assume this is so 100% of resources go to the bread. Worth it.
Lured by the aroma of fresh bread we landed at this place. We had no idea about this hidden gym until we this aroma hit our nose across the street.
We ordered pineapple Brioche and Marinara flat bread. Soooo damn yumm. Crispy on the outside and super soft and fluffy on the inside 🤤
We were lucky to get this before it got sold out, unfortunately the Morning Bun was out of stock but this place is definitely worth ordering from..
Omg they have the best bread on the island. We bought their gruyere savory croissant-like bread and it was absolutely mouth watering. We also tried their nonna focaccia. The nice guy behind the counter let me pick a free mini load to try. I would recommend ordering in advance as some of the options were sold out by the time we walked in in the afternoon. Highly recommend! They have seating outside their store
Time to time, I think about Croissant and Cafe Au Lait you have it for the breakfast in Paris...
If you are in Paris and you have it everyday then you will miss Açaí bowl and fried rice..
This morning’s croissant was perfect mix of Asia and Europe..meet in the middle kind of croissant concept...lovely!
✳︎ Chocolate Croissant
✳︎ Prosciutto and Gruyere Croissant
✳︎ Taegu, Spinach, and Manchego Croissant
I was very curious to try the Taegu (seasoned Cod fish) in the croissant at first. The fish marinade tasted sweet, it blended well with the cheese and added color of spinach inside of the croissant.
Oh...
Heavenly Pineapple Brioche ..
The real pineapple texture, taste made the brioche to the next level for sure.
It was hard to secure one for weeks, but it was totally worth a wait.
パイナップルのブリオッシュ

1ヶ月以上トライし続けた甲斐があったなぁ
Best bakery on the island.
Simple breads done incredibly well.
Complicated pastries (we had sesame and sugar dark chocolate croissants!) that are simply perfect.
The sandwiches pictures I made at home, but it's all using their awesome bread!
The food is excellent, but you'll want to preorder in advance. This is not the kind of bakery you can just show up at last minute on a whim.
Try everything. I ordered the pineapple brioche, 4 piece savory and sweet boxes, and potato pie. The puff pastry was done extremely well with its flaky, crispy, and buttery (but not too buttery) texture.
In the pastry boxes were:
- Pecan Praline Snail
- Butterscotch Apple with Cinnamon Streusel Tart
- Mexican Hot Chocolate Danish
- Zucchini with Garlic Cream Cheese and Herbs
- Prosciutto and Gruyère croissant
- Taego, Spinach, and Manchego croissant
- Cookie butter and mac nut twice baked croissant
My personal favorites were the croissants (last 3 listed). The flavors were incredible.
Pineapple brioche is a massive loaf that will satisfy me for a while after freezing some slices. Potato pie was also huge and is best reheated before enjoying.
Got some bread here today. Now it is only pick up by pre-order and appointment for pick up time. There is parking lots behind the shop, so it is easier than usual. During driving back home, the smell of these bread made me very happy. Then slicing and eating them made me happier. Furikake flat bread surprised me. Kinda odd combination, but it was good! Next day I was still happier eating French toast with their brioche. They have some different bread each day. I will try others soon!
The bread is delicious... as good as bread I buy in Poland where I'm from. However last time I got 2 loaves and both were over baked, almost burnt and I didn't like that. For $9 I expect it to be perfect! You pick up your bread at their window and it is wrapped so you can't see it. Next time I will ask to see it before I take it to avoid this type of disappointment.
I got the 4 pastry box set on my last day on the island and really wished I had ordered more to take home. Hands down the best pastry I’ve had and I’ve had a lot. I highly recommend ordering online in advance for pick up as the items do sell out. Definitely worth the trip
I highly expected Rosemary Polenta sourdough bread to have more scent or more taste of rosemary since I love rosemary so much 😂 Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. Their breads are just great. Love the chewy texture and crisp. Focaccia (they called it flatbread here) is my fav! 😍 if you are a bread lover, you must stop by. ( pre-order online first 'cause they sold out fast! And then come pick it up)
This place is a 10/10! Truly great bread here and they know it. The folks who make and sell the bread know what they are doing and how to help you if your clueless or just cannot decide.
The bread is fantastic. Not just normal good fresh bread - this is like bread from bread heaven. Their rye and country sourdough are outstanding, but for a real treat try the focaccia.
The prices are high but well worth it if you appreciate good bread. Expect to wait in a short line.
Parking is free and easy just behind the store.
In the photos you'll see that we used the bread as a birthday cake because it's that good. Enjoy
What is not to love about fresh bread made well? I ordered on Tock - City loaf, baguette, and brioche. My family liked all of them. I particularly liked the moistness of the City loaf with the crispy exterior. I've tried making my own bread and it's just so hard to get the hydration right without a huge mess. Thank you Breadshop! I am so glad I live in Kaimuki. #keepitkaimuki 🙂
Fantastic artisan breads. We tried City, Seeded City, Country, Oatmeal loaves and sourdough rolls. All were excellent. Dark, crispy/chewy crust with open, flavorful crumb. Because of island humidity, had to slice and freeze remainder after a couple of days, only to enjoy perfect toast and french toast for the remainder of our stay on the island.
Also had chocolate croissants and pastry box. Wow! Chocolate croissants were absolutely delightful, and the variety of pastries was amazing. As a home artisan baker, I always like to find artisan bakers when traveling, and have found my go-to source when visiting Oahu.
Best bread and bakery in Hawaii by far! The type of bread you can soak that doesn't get soggy yet absorbs the juices. Their flatbreads and croissants are delicious too! You can easily cut and freeze the bread like I do and defrost it in the microwave or naturally when you want a piece... springs back to life nicely, crisp it up for a few mins under a broiler, yum!!!
The Furikake Focaccia is HUGE! It's interesting to try but probably won't get it again. I absolutely love their mini sugar brioche though!
