Stopped in for lunch and had the beef lemongrass soup and lavender lemonade. The soup had just the right amount of heat and had good flavor. The lemonade was perfect not super sweet and the lavender added a nice touch. My order came out fairly quickly and the people working were friendly.

This crab soup special from broken rice easily makes my “top 3 best things I’ve eaten” on this trip. We went to The Pig and the Lady the day before, which is the Vietnamese restaurant everyone recommended to us and both of us loved broken rice more. The crab broth is so aromatic (I poured it in the bowl post-first photo - swipe right to see the after shot). There’s rice vermicelli noodles, fresh crab, Vietnamese ham, tofu, tomato and homemade meatballs with pork and crab 😍😍😍 I recommend getting their coconut tapioca (che) for dessert 😋😋😋

Menu is a little smaller than a standard Vietnamese restaurant but dishes were good. The noodle dishes have an interesting take on the broths. Had the pork chops but next time I think I'll do the oxtail noodle dish. Pate was also tasty. Parking available either in the metered stalls directly behind the restaurants or the lot next door (where Big City Diner and Happy Day are) is a paid lot that charges via a ticket so you don't have to feed the meters.

Yes, they’re still open. They’re a small Vietnamese restaurant with especially good rice. If you have “rice” in your name, you’d better have good rice. They do. The rice is soft and fluffy rather than sticky, but holds enough to come as a big scoop on your dish. The dishes themselves are well crafted. You can tell there’s a real chef behind the scenes who ensures the quality of the food. All in all, it’s a nice quiet spot for good food in Waialae.

We had very good broken rice with grilled pork here. And the price is super reasonable, since prices in Hawaii can get very crazy, we have got a lot of food. And the owner is very nice. Highly recommend this place!!

My experience has been consistent quality of food, flavor and presentation. My favorite is the chicken and rice plate. In comparison to what $12 gets you in the surrounding area, I would rather spend those $12 here. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Disclaimer, I'm a stickler for rice and this is one area they do well in, others in the area, not so much.

Our one of favorite places in the area. It’s ran by a lovely couple, the home style food is delicious and comforting, always fresh and hot, definitely made with love! We usually get pho and shaken tofu - which is the most flavourful tofu we’ve ever had, and we’ve tried a loooooot of tofu. We’ll keep coming back.

Very tasty rice plates. Rice was nicely moist. The chicken and pork chop nicely grilled and charred, very flavorful.

I've been here twice now. The crab soup is amazing and worth the full price. The taste is perfect, the broth is crabby and not too salty and it just feels like home if you grew up in a family that cooks. The special broken rice with pork is also divine. The shaken beef is delicious and just as good as the other 2 dishes I mentioned. But unfortunately the portion isnt worth the $18. For $12-14 would be fine, but $18 is too high. Highly recommend. Don't get me wrong, the beef is a great choice. But if you can eat a lot, this one won't fill you. Try this place!

Most flavorful and fresh dish selections with excellent value! Some folks may not appreciate the passion and drive that it takes to serve such high quality at reasonable prices... you should charge more!!! Keep true to your vision and don't be swayed by 'the fake experts' that only look for another good spot to rage on... locals know how 'tourists' believe they deserve somehow special treatment, and then wonder why locals dislike them LOL

Their rice is made so deliciously. All the veggies and tofu are sauteed with a very flavorful seasoning too. The location is nice and the owner is very friendly and welcoming :)

We got their Special Broken Rice and Shaking Beef. Both were tasty and seasoned well. Service was good as well. However, prices are high for the amount of food you get.

Broken rice wasn't bad. I was expecting worse and came out better then I thought. It's acceptable if you are in the area but not the best on this island. Service was okay they seem limited with the mom and the pop just running everything not even sure if they had a cook or if they were doing it all. Very nice people though.

Super sweet owner! Gave us some free lemonade because of the door accidentally being locked. Great food as well! Thank you!!

Best Vietnamese food I've ever had! We will be back again very soon. Spring Rolls are made fresh to order (no oily taste) so there is a little bit of a wait but worth it. Enjoy their fresh, homemade Lavendar infused lemonade. You can also bring in a bottle of wine or beer, too. Family owned, super clean, just a lovely experience.
